The applicability of burcucumber (Sicyos angulatus L.) as a substitute for nitrogen fertilizer (가시박의 질소비료 대체재로써의 이용 가능성)

  • BACKGROUND: Burcucumber(Sicyos angulatus L.) is an invasive plant species and disturbs ecosystems in Korea. The main method for prevention of burcucumber is cutting or pulling out. However, the studies accounting for the use of the by-product of burcucumber after cutting remain incomplete. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the applicability of burcucumber as a substitute for nitrogen fertilizer.METHODS AND RESULTS: Burcucmber plants only including stem, leaves, and petiole were collected from the Sky Park in Seoul and divided in to three categories based on the length of stem of burcucumber; 10-30 cm, 30-100 cm, and 100-200 cm. And they were input into soil with 20 kg-N/10 a. After 4 weeks aging, chemical properties of treated soils and the productivity of lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.) were examined. Both the inorganic nitrogen contents in soils and the growth of lettuce were increased with the decreases in length of burcucumber standing for young plant. And the inorganic nitrogen content and the productivity of lettuce were positively correlated(r= 0.9409).CONCLUSION: The C/N ratio of burcucumber was low, indicating fast decomposition and nitrogen supplying rate, resulting in the increase in lettuce growth. Burcucumber could be a good substitute for nitrogen organic fertilizer.

Extractive Nitrogenous Constituents and Their Monthly Variation of Fresh Laver Porphyra dentata (잇바디돌김의 함질소 엑스성분조성 및 월별변동)

  • In order to investigate the composition and monthly variation of extractive nitrogenous components in the laver Porphyra dentata cultured at the south coast of Korea, the fresh laver was analyzed separately for the amounts of free amino acids, combined amino acids, ATP and its related compounds, and quaternary ammonium basis in fresh laver were measured. The extractive nitrogen contents of fresh laver extracts were 760~870 mg/100g (dry basis). Twenty-seven to thirty-one kinds of free amino acids were detected in the laver extracts and their total amounts were 2,404~3,966 mg/100g (on dry basis). The laver extracts showed rich in free amino acids such as alanine, taurine, glutamic acid, glutamine and aspartic acid. Sixteen to twenty-three kinds of combined amino acids were detected in the extracts and their total amounts were 1,429~2,692 mg/100g (on dry basis). Proline, glutamic acid, glycine, phosphoserine, serine were the amin combined amino acids in the extracts. The amounts of ATP and related compounds were 73.3~94.4 mg/100 g (2.04~4.43 $\mu$mol/g, on dry basis). Homarine and trigonelline were detected in all specimens but $\beta$-alaninebetaine, ${\gamma}$-butyrobetaine were found in some. Small amounts of trimethylamine were detected in all samples. Free and combined amino acids were occupying almost 90% of extractive nitrogen. Most of free and combined amino acids showed a marked monthly variation with a maximum in January and March, and a minimum in February and April. The fresh laver P. dentata did not differ much from the fresh laver P. yezoensis in qualitative com-position of extractive components, but their contents were generally low level.

Estimation of Optimum Application Rate of Nitrogen Fertilizer Based on Soil Nitrate Concentration for Tomato Cultivation in Plastic Film House (토양의 질산태 질소 검정에 의한 시설재배 방울토마토의 질소 적정시비량 추정)

  • This study was conducted to estimate the optimum application rate of fertilizer N based on $NO_3-N$ concentration in soils for tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) cultivation in plastic film house. Tomato plants were cultivated with and without fertilizer in twelve soils which have different concentrations of $NO_3-N$ ranging from 46 to $344mg\;kg^{-1}$. Dry weight (DW) of above-ground part of tomato with no fertilizer ranged from 28.9 to $112.5g\;plant^{-1}$, depending on N-supplying capability of soils. The soil $NO_3-N$ was positively correlated with DW ($r=0.83^{**}$) and N uptake ($r=0.78^{**}$) by tomatoes in no fertilizer treatment, and negatively correlated with fertilizer effciencies resulted from the differences of DW and N uptake between fertilized and non-fertilized plot. The relationships between soil $NO_3-N$ concentration and DW, N uptake, and fertilizer efficiency were analyzed to determine the critical levels of soil $NO_3-N$ for tomato cultivation. The limit critical levels of soil $NO_3-N$ were estimated to be more than $280mg\;kg^{-1}$ for no application of fertilizer N and to be less than $50mg\;kg^{-1}$ for recommended application of fertilizer N. These critical levels of soil $NO_3-N$ were nearly the same as those calculated from regression equation between electrical conductivity(EC) and soil nitrate for critical levels of EC in recommendation equation of fertilizer N for tomato under the plastic film house by NationaI Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology. Consequently, the optimal application rate of ferdilizer N for tomato cultivation in the soils containing $NO_3-N$ concentration between $280mg\;kg^{-1}$ and $50mg\;kg^{-1}$ was estimated by the equation Y = -0.4348X+121.74, where Y is the percent(%) to the recommended application rate of N fertilizer and X is the soil $NO_3-N$ concentration ($mg\;kg^{-1}$).

Feasibility Study of On-site Analysis on Ammonium ion (암모늄이온의 현장 분석 방법 개발에 관한 기초 연구)

  • Because ammonia in water body can cause water pollution as a result of generating ammonium ion, it is of importance in the management of water quality. This work performed to analyze the ammonium ion by measuring the color band length on the basis of modifying the indophenol method. When 1-naphthol was employed as a coloring agent, the maximum absorbance was shown near 720nm, where the proper injection was in the range of 0.5-1.5ml. About 80% of absorbance was observed after the color development was made within the 20 minutes. In the manufacturing of coloring agent, the proper concentration of NaOH was 1.5-2.5M, and the effect of pH on the color development is negligible. In addition, the color development was effectively in the region of room temperature.

  • A surfatron-type microwave induced plasma (MIP) cavity has been constructed, which can be easily interfaced with a gas chromatograph. Various plasma gases such as He, Ar and N2 were used to generate the MIP and small amounts of CO2 gases were injected through the MIP to obtain characteristic spectrum of each plasma gas and to study feasibility of the MIP as a soft ionization source. Since He and Ar plasmas have high metastable state energy, it was not possible to detect sample gas in molecular state. With N2 plasma, however, a strong emission of molecular ions could be detected owing to its low metastable state energy.

나노트로볼로지를 이용한 질화 텅스텐 박막의 열적 안정성 연구

  • 반도체 집적도의 비약적인 발전으로 각 박막 층간의 두께는 더욱 줄어들었고 이는 각 박막 층간의 확산에 대한 문제를 간과할 수 없게 하였다. 따라서 각 층간의 확산을 방지하기 위하여 두께가 수십 nm size의 확산방지막의 연구에 대한 관심도는 증가하게 되었다. 본 연구에서 분석을 위하여 사용된 Nano-indentation은 박막 표면에 다이아몬드 팁을 이용하여 압입을 실시하여 이때 시표의 반응에 의한 팁의 위치(Z-축)를 in-situ로 측정하여 인가력과 팁의 위치에 대한 연속 압입곡선을 측정하게 된다. 이를 통하여 박막의 hardness와 elastic modulus를 측정하게 되고, 연속 압입곡선 분석을 통하여 박막의 표면응력 변화를 측정한다. 이 논문에서는 반도체의 기판으로 사용되는 Si기판과 금속배선 물질인 Cu와의 확산을 효과적으로 방지하기 위한 W-C-N 확산 방지막을 제시하였고, 시료 증착을 위하여 RF-magnetron sputter를 사용하여 동일한 증착조건에서 질소(N)의 비율을 다르게 하여 박막 내 질소비율에 따른 확산방지막을 제작하였다. 이후 시료의 열적 안정성 측정을 위하여 상온, $600^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$로 각각 질소 분위기에서 30분간 열처리 과정을 실시하여 열적 손상을 인가하였다. 고온에서 확산방지막의 물리적 특성을 알아보기 위해 Nano-indentation을 이용하여 분석하였고, WET-SPM을 이용하여 표면 이미지와 거칠기를 확인하였다. 그 결과 질화물질이 내화물질에 비해 고온에서 물성변화가 적게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었고, 균일도와 결정성 또한 질화물질에서 더 안정적이었다.

Mulberry Growth Promotion by Nitrogen Application under Abnormally Wet and Cool Weather Conditions (하추기 이상 저온하에서 뽕나무 발육부진요인과 추비에 의한 생육증진)

  • Abnormally cool and wet weather conditions during the summer of 1993 offered an opportunity to evaluate the effects of abnormal weather conditions on mulberry growth and to develop cultivation practicies to reduce leaf yield loss under the similar abnormal weather conditions. Different methods of nutrient supplementation were evaluated in Suwon and Kongju. Nitrogen was supplemented by foliar spray of urea(1.7%) or composite chemical fertilizer Jamsibiryo #8, or by the application of ammonium sulfate(60kg/ha) to the soil. During the period between the late June and the early September which corresponds to the mulberry growing season after summer pruning, mean temperature was 1.4$^{\circ}C$ lower and precipitation 83mm higher than normal year. This weather condition in 1993 caused reduction in leaf yield by 16.4% than common year. Soil nitrogen content decreased due to higher precipitation. Leaf yield loss was reduced by the supplementation of nitrogen to the soil. Leaf nitrogen content increased with the foliar urea spray and nitrogen supplementation to the soil.

  • Nowadays, researches for replacing material systems for cryotanks by composites have been being performed for the purpose of lightweight launch vehicle. In this paper, a type 3 propellant tank, which is composed of the composite developed for cryogenic use and an aluminum liner, was fabricated and tested considering actual operating environment, that is, cryogenic temperature and pressure. For this aim, liquid nitrogen (LN2) was injected into the fabricated tank and in turn, gaseous nitrogen (GN2) was used for pressurization. During this test procedure, strains and temperatures on the tank surface were measured. The delamination between hoop layer and helical one, was detected during the experiment. Several attempts were followed to investigate the cause analytically and experimentally. Thermo-elastic analysis in consideration of the progressive failure was done to evaluate the failure index. Experimental approach through a LN2 immersion test of composite/aluminum ring specimens suitable for simulating the Type 3 tank structure.

Characteristics of Nitrogen and Carbon Isotopes on Organic Matter and River Sediments of Toil Stream in Yeongju Dam Basin (영주댐 유역 토일천 유입 유기물 및 하천 퇴적물에 대한 질소와 탄소 동위원소 특성 연구)

  • Organic pollutants that contained in stream sediments have origins of mountain soil in natural and cattle manure in human activity. Nitrogen and carbon isotope analysis for mountain soil, cattle manure and stream sediment were performed for contribution evaluation of organic pollutants in Toil stream of Yeongju dam basin. Average carbon isotope ratio(δ13C) is -25.17‰, -22.34‰, and -26.39‰ for river sediments, cattle manure and mountain soil, respectively. Result of carbon isotope analysis suggests that river sediments are more affected by acid soils. Average value of the nitrogen isotope ratio (δ15N) is 9.46% for river sediment, 1.99% for mountain soil, and 19.53% for cattle manure. Result of nitrogen isotopic analysis show that contribution of cattle mature is slightly higher than that of mountain soil in Toil stream sediments.

증착 시 질소 유량 변화와 열처리에 따른 ZrN 박막의 기계적 특성 및 전기적 특성 변화 연구

  • 최근 반도체 회로의 미세화로 인해 디자인 공정이 20 nm 이하로 내려갔다. 그 결과 회로간의 간격이 줄었으며 많은 문제가 발생 한다. 첫 번째 문제는 미세하게 여러 박막 층들을 쌓기 때문에 박막 층이 그전 50 nm 공정에 비해선 쉽게 무너질 수 있다. 따라서 하나의 박막 층은 다른 여러 박막들의 하중을 잘 견뎌야 할 것이다. 결과적으로 회로의 미세화에 따라 박막의 기계적 특성이 좋아야 될 것이다. 또 다른 문제는 너무 좁은 회로의 간격으로 인해 다른 회로에 영향을 미치는 크로스토크라는 전기적 문제이다. 크로스토크가 크다는 것은 회로간의 누설 전류가 크다는 것을 의미하며 그만큼 신호 전달 능력이 감소 한다는 것을 뜻한다. 크로스토크의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 회로 사이에 절연 막을 만들어 누설전류를 막아야 한다. 이러한 문제를 바탕으로 본 연구는 Zirconium nitride (ZrN) 박막이 이러한 문제점을 해결 할 수 있는 지연구해 보았다. 박막 제작 시 변화 요인은 질소유량 과 열처리 온도 이며 질소유량 변화는 2 sccm 과 8 sccm 두 경우로 하였다. 또한 열처리는 As-deposited state, $600^{\circ}C$$800^{\circ}C$로 열처리 하였다. 박막 증착은 RF magnetron sputtering을 이용하였으며 열처리는 질소 분위기에서 furnace를 이용하였다. 기계적 특성분석 결과 질소유량이 2 sccm 인 박막의 hardness는 as-deposited stste에서 18.8 GPa이고 $600^{\circ}C$에선 18.4 GPa로 거의 비슷하고 $800^{\circ}C$ 열처리한 경우는 15.4 GPa 으로 hardness가 감소하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 질소 유량을 8 sccm 흘려주며 증착한 박막의 경우는 as-deposited state, $600^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$에서의 hardness가 각각 17.5, 16.4, 21.1 GPa 으로 감소하다가 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 zrN 박막의 전기적 특성인 누설 전류 밀도도 측정하였다. 결과적으로 본 연구는 ZrN 박막의 질소 유량 변화와 열처리에 따른 기계적, 전기적 특성변화를 확인 하였다.
