Preceding Study on the Sensing Part of Level Measurement System of Launch Vehicle Propellant Tanks (발사체 탱크 추진제 수위 측정시스템 감지부 선행연구)

  • The propellant level measurement system of the next Koreanized launch vehicle shall adapt a capacitive type sensor, which can generate capacitive values continuously considering cryogenic environment and the characteristics of flowrate control. At present there are a twin-arc and a triple-arc methods as a capacitive type signal sensing method. In this study a highly accurate triple-arc method, which can apply to almost all fluids, is chosen. In this paper the review results on the principle of triple-arc sensing, the analysis results on the influence on capacitive values due to shape change of sensing part, and the simulation results to monitor the influence on signal sensing according to the location of sensing part in the upper part of propellant tank are included. Information obtained from this study can be used in the designing and manufacturing of on-board propellant level measurement system in tanks.

  • Air embolism can be a lethal complication of surgical procedures during which venous pressure at the site of surgery is sub-atmospheric or air is forced under pressure into a body cavity. To solve the problem, we developed the air detector using relative dielectric constant change, which is expected to be used broadly in industrial circles. We designed air detection system with air control equipment, detection circuit and LabVIEW system for air sensing. In experiments with a mock system, the proposed system showed a signal difference depending on the amount of air in the Tygon tube of the mock system.

  • 가로등 지중전선로에서의 누전차단기는 일정상당의 대지정전용량 및 누설전류증가로 인한 오동작때문에 정전을 발생시켜 많은 민원을 야기하였다. 본 연구는 사용장소별 5~35[V]이내에서 설정값에 따라 전압을 감지하여 제어부를 차단하도록 하고 가로등이나 기계기구에 연결되는 전선로는 누설전류(15~200[mA])값을 1[mA]단위로 사용여건에 따라 조정 할 수 있는 전압감지식 누전차단기의 설치시 동작에 대한 것이다. 동작시험 결과 설정값에 따라 잘 조정되었고 대지정전용량 이나 영상 분전류의 영향을 받지 않았다. 국제 안전전압 25[V](50[mA])와 우리나라 15[V](30[mA])이하에서도 사용할 수 있으며 최소 5[V], (10[mA])에서 오동작 없이 잘 동작하여 고차단 안전차단장치임을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 RLS(Rescursive Least Square) 추정 알고리즘을 이용하여 정전용량형 센서를 사용한 원격 RF 센서 시스템을 구현하고자 한다. IC 칩 형태의 원격 RF 센서 시스템이 가지는 구성의 복잡성 그리고 전력소모 문제를 해결하기 위해 보다 간단한 유도결합모델이 제안된다. 원격 RF 시스템은 페이저법을 이용하여 수학적으로 모델링되며, 모델기반의 RLS 알고리즘을 적용하기위해 시스템의 파라메타를 재배열한다. 오차 제곱합의 수렴특성을 가진 RLS 알고리즘을 이용하여 정전용량 파라메타를 추정한다. 실제 위상차를 측정하기 위해 Exclusive OR를 이용한 위상차 감지 장치를 제안한다. 센서로는 각종 환경 측정-습도, 압력 등-에 실제 활용되고 있는 정전용량형 센서를 채택한다. 잡음을 내포한 측정 데이터에 대한 추정 성능을 확인함으로써 그 유효성을 검증하고자 한다.

  • Resistivity cone penetrometer test (RCPT) can be employed at a relatively low cost for in-situ delineation of subsurface contamination. While the resistivity measurement has a potential to investigate the subsurface contamination, resistivity measurements alone will lead to some degree of ambiguity in the results. In this study, capacitance measurement was incorporated into the RCPT to overcome the ambiguity inherent in electrical resistivity measurements. This study is focused on verifying the applicability of resistivity and capacitance measurements of CPT module to provide information on subsurface contaminated by heavy metal and petroleum hydrocarbon. Laboratory model tests were performed to evaluate the sensitivity of the measured resistivity and relative capacitance on the water content and different types of contaminants. Test results show that simultaneous measurement of electrical resistivity and capacitance can give more reliable information on subsurface contamination. Electrical measurements of the CPT module showed high applicability to be used in detecting saturated soils contaminated by heavy metal and diesel plume floating above the groundwater table.

Capacitance-type Alcohol Sensors using Porous Silicon Layer (다공질 실리콘 층을 이용한 정전용량형 알코올 센서)

  • A capacitance-type sensor using porous silicon layer is developed to measure aqueous alcohol concentration. Since alcohol, so called ethanol, is very permeable into the silicon wafer, it is often used to help chemical reaction when the silicon wafer is processed under some aqueous solution. In this work, the sensing property was measured for the alcohol concentration from zero to near 100 percent with two types of samples with porous silicon layer formed in 25 and 35% HF solution, respectively. Good reliability as well as fast response time and good linearity were shown over 10kHz and the measured capacitance was observed to be inverse to alcohol concentration due to the decrease of the whole dielectric constant in porous silicon layer.

Capacitive Skin Piloerection Sensors for Human Emotional State Cognition (인간의 감정변화 상태 인지를 위한 정전용량형 피부 입모근 수축 감지센서)

  • We designed, fabricated, and tested the capacitive microsensors for skin piloerection monitoring. The performance of the skin piloerection monitoring sensor was characterized using the artificial bump, representing human skin goosebump; thus, resulting in the sensitivity of $-0.00252%/{\mu}m$ and the nonlinearity of 25.9 % for the artificial goosebump deformation in the range of $0{\sim}326{\mu}m$. We also verified two successive human skin piloerection having 3.5 s duration on the subject's dorsal forearms, thus resulting in the capacitance change of -6.2 fF and -9.2 fF compared to the initial condition, corresponding to the piloerection intensity of $145{\mu}m$ and $194{\mu}m$, respectively. It was demonstrated experimentally that the proposed sensor is capable to measure the human skin piloerection objectively and quantitatively, thereby suggesting the quantitative evaluation method of the qualitative human emotional state for cognitive human-machine interfaces applications.

  • The elevator installed in the building consists of an elevator call button and an input button for selection to the target floor. The elevator button is input only when the elevator user directly presses it. Such passenger input can be infected with an infectious disease due to contamination of the button. A non-contact button is required as a means for solving this problem, which detects the proximity of an object by applying a capacitive method. It implements a function of measuring the body's body temperature by attaching an infrared heat sensor, and provides a sterilization function of a button by attaching a UV-LED. A button was selected, a body temperature was measured through an infrared temperature measurement sensor, and UV-LED was turned on and sterilized when there was no user. The contactless elevator button is expected to be effective in preventing infectious diseases as it can prevent infection of viruses carrying infectious diseases and can detect body temperature to select positive patients of CIVID 19.

  • 반도체 집적회로 공정에서 사용되는 폴리이미드 포토레지스트(P12723, Dupont)를 감습막으로 사용하는 마이크로 습도센서 소자를 제작하였다. 마이크로 습도센서는 실리콘 웨이퍼 기판 위에 $SiO_2$ 박막을 건식열산화 공정으로 제작하고, Al 박막을 포토리소그라피 공정으로 패터닝 한 IDT (Interdigital Transducer)를 전극 위에 폴리이미드 포토레지스트를 공정변수를 다양하게 조절하면서 감습막으로 제작하였다. 폴리이미드 감습막은 스핀코팅법으로 제작하였으며, 회전수를 조절하여 두께를 변화시켰다. 완성된 마이크로 습도센서 소자의 상대습도 변화$(10{\sim}90% RH)$에 따른 정전용량 값 변화를 항온항습조 내에서 다양한 온도에서 HP4192A Impedance Analyzer를 사용하여 조사함으로써, 폴리이미드 포토레지스트를 사용하는 마이크로 정전용량형 습도센서의 제작 가능성을 검토하였다. 폴리이미드 정전용량형 마이크로 습도센서는 다양한 인가 전원 주파수에서 기준 센서로 사용된 상용 Vaisala Hygrometer와 유사한 감습특성 및 응답특성을 보였다.

  • Indirect Touch switch which detects the change of capacitance around the electrode of QT113H chip from QPROX is designed and assembled. Sensitivity analysis of dielectric materials which prevents electrodes from direct touch is performed and the results are displayed in tables and graphs. Glass, acryl, and MDF is used to insulate the electrode and to measure the operating sensitivity of indirect touch switch. While the difference of permittivity of the dielectric materials are large, it is confirmed that the operating sensitivity of each dielectric materials are not so large as the differences of those of dielectric materials.
