The Causal Relationship among Vocational Basic Competencies, Self-Efficacy, Nursing Professionalism and Self-Directed Learning Ability of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 직업기초능력과 자기효능감, 간호전문직관 및 자기주도학습능력의 인과적 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine empirically the influence of self-efficacy on the selection of behavior and sustainability as a variable affecting vocational basic competencies. There is a need to confirm the influence of the mediating effect of nursing professionalism and self-directed learning ability formed through the recognition of nursing professional intuition on the vocational basic competencies. For this purpose, 396 nursing students from three junior colleges in J province were sampled for convenience. All of the latent variables were measured by vocational core competency, self-efficacy, nursing professionalism and self-directed learning ability. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The result of this study were as follows: First, the fix indexed of causal model among ocational core competency, self-efficacy, nursing professionalism and self-directed learning ability were identified suitably. Second, self-efficacy had no direct effect on vocational core competency, however, nursing professionalism and self-directed learning ability had moderating effect in the relationship between self-efficacy and vocational core competency. Third, nursing professionalism had direct effect on vocational core competency and also self-directed learning ability had moderating effect in the relationship between nursing professionalism and vocational core competency. Fourth, self-directed learning ability had direct effect on vocational core competency.

Relationships among Nursing Professional Values, Bioethics and Death Ethic Perception in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 간호전문직관과 생명 및 죽음에 대한 윤리의식간의 관계)

  • This study identifies the relationships between professional values, bioethics and death ethic perception in Korean nursing students. The study included 284 nursing students. Data was obtained through convenient sampling, adopting a cross-sectional design methodology. Professional values among nurses were significantly different according to occupational view (p<.001), ethical perception (p<.001) and ethical values (p<.001). Death ethic perception was significantly different based on ethical education (p<.05) and ethical values(p<.05). Positive correlations were found between nursing professional values, bioethics and death ethic perception, death ethic was significant predictors of professional values with an explanatory power of 15.0%. The findings of this study may assist in providing a detailed understanding of values among Korean nursing professionals, bioethics and death ethic perception.

The Influence of Self-efficacy, Incivility, Career identity on Nursing professionalism in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자기효능감, 임상실습에서 경험하는 무례함, 진로정체감이 전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study was to identify relationship among self-efficacy, incivility, career identity and professionalism in nursing students. The subjects were 320 junior and senior nursing students from four colleges in Gyeonggi-do. As a result of the study, the average self-efficacy was 3.90 points, incivility was 2.36 points, career identity was 2.64 points, and nursing professionalism was 3.63points. Professionalism of nursing students was positively correlated self-efficacy, career identity, but nursing professionalism was negatively correlated incivility. The predictors on nursing professionalism were self-efficacy, incivility, career identity and rudeness. These variables have explanatory power of 16.3% on nursing professionalism. Therefore, specific strategies are needed to reduce the rudeness experienced in clinical practice and change in the curriculum to increase the career identity of nursing students.

A Practical Performance Comparison of Nurse between Comprehensive Nursing Care Service Ward and General Service Ward

  • This study was conducted to identify differences in Practical Performance of Nurse between Comprehensive Nursing Care Service Ward and General Service Ward. The subjects of this study were 185 nurses from S hospital, Comprehensive Nursing Care service operating hospital, located in D city. This study used the measuring tool "Nursing Professionalism Scale" developed by Yoon etc(2005) and "Practical Performance Scale" developed by Lee etc(2005). The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression using SPSS 20.0 version. As a result of the study, Comprehensive Nursing Care Service Ward nurses have higher Nursing Professionalism than General Service Ward nurses. Also, Nursing Professionalism has an effect on improvement of Practical Performance on Both ward nurses. Therefore, the study can be applied to improve the Practical Performance of the nurses through the establishment of the Nursing Professionalism.

Convergence Effects of Nursing Professionalism and Critical Thinking Disposition on Patient Safety Attitude in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 간호전문직관과 비판적 사고성향이 환자안전에 대한 태도에 미치는 융 복합적 영향)

  • This study examined convergence effects of nursing professionalism and critical thinking disposition on patient safety attitude of nursing students. The subjects were 172 senior nursing students in S city. The data were collected from May 15 to May 25, 2017. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS Statistics version 23.0. Nursing students showed 3.76, moderate level in patient safety attitude. Nursing professionalism and critical thinking disposition were positively correlated with patient safety attitude. The variables that have significant influence on the patient safety attitude were 'recommendation' among motivation of admission, academic score, satisfaction with nursing major and nursing professionalism. These factors explained 17.8% of variance. In conclusion, to improve the patient safety attitude of nursing students, it is necessary to systematic management for developing motivation of admission, academic score, satisfaction with nursing major and nursing professionalism.

The relationships between emotional intelligence and college adjustment and nursing professionalism in nursing students (간호대학생의 감성지능과 대학생활적응 및 간호전문직관의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the relationships between emotional intelligence and college adjustment and nursing professionalism in nursing college students. The study participants were 172 nursing students of a university in Chungnam province. Data were collected by a self-administered questionnaire from December 1 to 20, 2015. Collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 20.0 program with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe test. The level of the emotional intelligence, college adjustment, and nursing professionalism were not high, and the emotional intelligence of nursing students had positive correlation with college adjustment(r=.448, p<.001)and nursing professionalism(r=.376, p<.001). These results suggest that nursing interventions to improve the emotional intelligence of nursing students should be developed and applied for improvement of college adjustment and nursing professionalism.

Mediating Effect of Nursing Professionalism on the Relationship between Critical Thinking Disposition and Consciousness of Bioethics in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 비판적 사고성향과 생명윤리의식: 간호전문직관의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine to identify the mediating effects of nursing professionalism in the relation between consciousness of bioethicscritical and critical thinking disposition. Data were collected by self-report questionnaires targeting 264 nursing students in two nursing colleges located in B and C city province. Data were analyzed with SPSS/PC ver 23.0 programs. There were significantly positive correlations between critical thinking disposition, nursing professionalism and consciousness of bioethics. Nursing professionalism fully mediated the relationship between critical thinking disposition and consciousness of bioethics. Theses results indicated that in order to improve the consciousness of bioethics of nursing students, it is necessary to develop and t est the program for improving not only on the critical thinking disposition but also on the nursing professionalism.

Impacts of Role Conflict and Job Stress on Nursing Professionalism of Clinical Nurses at Comprehensive Nursing Care Wards (간호·간병통합서비스 병동 간호사의 역할갈등과 직무스트레스가 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the current states of the comprehensive nursing care services and nursing professionalism the role conflicts and job stresses experienced by the nurses, to investigate the influences affecting the nursing professionalism. The subjects were 174 nurses, the role conflict, job stress, and nursing professionalism have a significant correlation with each other. Data were analyzed by t-test, correlation, regression analysis using SPSS WIN 23.0 program. The result showed that the correlation between nursing professionalism was significant in role conflict(r=-.186, p=.014) and job stress(r=-.389, p<.001). In addition, factors affecting nursing professionalism were in order of role conflict and job stress(F=23.810, p<.001), and explanatory power was 11.8%.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting job satisfaction of nurses in nursing care service ward. The subjects were 127 nurses, nursing job satisfaction, nursing intuition, and nursing work environment using the 5 - point Likert scale. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis using SPSS WIN 23.0 program. The results showed that the correlation between job satisfaction and independent variables in nursing and nursing care service ward was significant in nursing professionalism (r = .90, p <.001) and nursing work environment (r = .75, p <.001). In addition, factors affecting job satisfaction were in the order of nursing professionalism and nursing work environment (F = 31.516, p <.001), and explanatory power was 84.1%. Therefore, Therefore, the necessity of nursing convergency strategy for improvement of these is suggested.

Influence of Nursing Students' Psychological Well-Being, Academic Self-Efficacy, and Self-Leadership on Nursing Professionalism - For First Graders of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 심리적 안녕감, 학업적 자기 효능감 및 셀프리더십이 간호전문직관에 미치는 영향 - 간호대학생 1학년을 대상으로)

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors influencing nursing professionalism of nursing students and to prepare measures to enhance them. This study is a descriptive survey of first-year nursing students at one university, which collected data through structured questionnaires from October 1 to October 31, 2019, and there were 203 analyzed with SPSS 22.0. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. According to the results, the most significant factors affecting nursing professionalism included academic self-efficacy (β =.51, p<.001), followed by psychological well-being (β=.31 p<.001), and self-leadership(β=.14, p=.043). These variables explained 23.8% of the total variance in nursing professionalism. Based on the results of this study, it is expected to be used as basic data for various curriculums and programs to improve academic self-efficacy, strengthen psychological well-being, and cultivate self-leadership, thereby improving nursing professionalism of nursing students.
