A Study on the Design of Power Amplifier for the Repeater using Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA방식 중계기용 전력증폭기의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a new type of linearization technique proposed, in which the predistortor was added to the feedforward linearizer. As the input power level is applied to HPA, the gain and phase characteristics of the amplifier are also varied. By using of the predistorter the amplitude imbalance and phase imbalance is kept constant. Experimental results are present for Korea PCS frequency band. The center frequency of the feedforward amplifier is 1.843.75 MHz with 1.23 MHz bandwidth. The 2-tone intermodulation distortion at 37dBm output power is about -50dBc, and spurious emission are -46dBc at $fc{\pm}\;885KHz\;and\;-52dBc\;at\;fc\;{\pm}1.98MHz$, respectively.

A Packet Collision Avoidance Technique in IEEE1609.4 Based Time Synchronization Multi-channel Environment (IEEE1609.4 기반 시간 동기 멀티채널 환경에서의 패킷 충돌 회피 기법)

  • In this paper, we analyze the communication performance in a time synchronous multi-channel environment and deal with a packet collision avoidance technique to improve it based on IEEE1609.4 for increasing the efficiency of the control channel IEEE802.11p WAVE communication system. In previous works, they tried to solve this problem by message scheduling method on application layer software or changing the value of the random back-off optionally Contention Window. In this paper, we propose a method for adjusting the Channel Guard Interval for packet collision avoidance. The performance was evaluated by the actual vehicle test. The result was confirmed performance over 90% PDR(Packet Delivery Ratio).

  • The smart grid with distributed power supply introduces a number of problems including not only the problems of the existing power grid but also the problem of protection co-operation due to new electric phenomenon because it has a mixed operation structure combining the existing radial operation structure and the new loop operation structure. The EMTP based power system analysis method has flexibility and convenience from the view of system configuration but it requires another experimental verification because of uncertainty of design and analysis results. On the other hand, the real demonstration system has difficulties in observing accurate fault on large scale system due to considerable economical and spatial construction cost, system configuration constraint, and it is difficult to demonstrate the distributed, autonomous and adaptive control strategy of smart grid. In this paper, a basic theory for a micro smart grid simulator design using MEMS(Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) miniaturization technology is studied which can safely and freely experiment and observe electrical phenomena, and distribution, autonomous adaptive control strategy for disturbances on 22.9kV smart grid under minimum economic and spatial cost.

  • 갈륨-질화물(GaN) 기반의 고속전자이동도 트랜지스터(high electron mobility transistor, HEMT)는 마이크로파 또는 밀리미터파 등과 같은 고주파 대역의 통신시스템에 널리 사용되는 전자소자로 각광받고 있다. GaN HEMT는 AlGaN/GaN 또는 AlGaN/InGaN/GaN 등과 같은 이종접합구조(heterostructure)로부터 발생하는 이차원 전자가스(two-dimensional electron gas, 2DEG) 채널을 이용하여 캐리어 구속효과(carrier confinement) 및 이동도의 향상이 가능하다. 또한 높은 2DEG 채널의 면밀도(sheet concentration) 와 전자의 포화 속도(saturation velocity)를 바탕으로 고출력 동작이 가능하여 차세대 이동통신용 전력 증폭기로 주목받고 있다. 그러나 이론적으로 우수한 특성과 달리, 실제 소자에서는 epi 성장시의 결함이나 전위, 표면 상태에 따른 2DEG 감소 등의 영향으로 이론보다 높은 누설 전류와 낮은 항복 전압 특성을 가진다. 특히, 기존의 GaN HEMT 구조에서는 Drain-Side Gate Edge에서의 전계 집중이 항복 전압 특성에 미치는 영향이 크다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 Trapezoidal Gate구조를 이용하여 Drain 방향의 Gate Edge가 완만히 변하는 구조를 제안하였다. 이를 위해 $ATLAS^{TM}$ 전산모사 프로그램을 이용하여 Trapezoidal Gate 구조를 구현하여 형태에 따른 전류-전압 특성 및 소자의 스위칭 특성 및 Gate 아래 채널층에 형성되는 Electric Field의 분산을 조사하고, 이를 바탕으로 고속 동작 및 높은 항복 전압을 갖는 AlGaN/GaN HEMT의 최적화된 구조를 제안하였다. 새로운 구조의 Gate를 적용한 AlGaN/GaN HEMT는 Gate edge에서의 전계를 분산시켜 피크 값이 감소되는 것을 확인하였다.

Memory Controller Architecture with Adaptive Interconnection Delay Estimation for High Speed Memory (고속 메모리의 전송선 지연시간을 적응적으로 반영하는 메모리 제어기 구조)

  • The delay times due to the propagating of data on PCB depend on the shape and length of interconnection lines when memory controllers and high speed memories are soldered on the PCB. The dependency on the placement and routing on the PCB requires redesign of I/O logic or reconfiguration of the memory controller after the delay time is measured if the controller is programmable. In this paper, we propose architecture of configuring logic for the delay time estimation by writing and reading test patterns while initializing the memories. The configuration logic writes test patterns to the memory and reads them by changing timing until the correct patterns are read. The timing information is stored and the configuration logic configures the memory controller at the end of initialization. The proposed method enables easy design of systems using PCB by solving the problem of the mismatching caused by the variation of placement and routing of components including memories and memory controllers. The proposed method can be applied to high speed SRAM, DRAM, and flash memory.

Design of SECE Energy Harvest Interface Circuit with High Voltage Comparator for Smart Sensor (고전압 비교기를 적용한 스마트 센서용 SECE 에너지 하베스트 인터페이스 회로 설계)

  • In order to apply a piezoelectric energy harvester to a smart sensor system, an energy harvest interface circuit including an AC-DC rectifier is required. In this paper, we compared the performance of full bridge rectifier, which is a typical energy harvester interface circuit, and synchronous piezoelectric energy harvest interface circuit by using board-level simulation. As a result, the output power of a synchronous electric charge extraction(: SECE) circuit is about four times larger than that of the full bridge rectifier, and there is little load variation. And a high voltage comparator, which is essential for the SECE circuit for the piezoelectric energy harvester with an output voltage of 40V or more, was designed using 0.35 um BCD process. The SECE circuit using the designed high-voltage comparator proved that the output power is 427 % higher than the FBR circuit.

  • A Photovoltaic power streetlight is a system that uses solar energy to charge a secondary battery and then uses it for night lighting through a lamp, and can be configured as a standalone or grid-connected type by installing an LED streetlight at the load end. The energy generated through the solar cell module can be charged to the secondary battery through the charge/discharge control device, and then the LED street light can be turned on and off by comparing the power generation voltage and the charging voltage according to the monitoring of solar radiation, or by setting a specific time after sunset or sunrise. Based on these contents, this paper designed and manufactured a simulated solar power streetlight for education using new and renewable energy utilization and storage functions. Using these educational equipment, students can 1) understand the flow of energy change using renewable energy including sunlight as electric energy, 2) understand new and renewable energy, and cultivate basic design and manufacturing application power of related products, 3) The use of new and renewable energy through power conversion and strengthening of practical training and analysis through hardware production can be instilled.

  • Recently, researches and projects of companies based on artificial intelligence have been actively carried out. Various services and systems are being grafted with artificial intelligence technology. They become more intelligent. Accordingly, interest in deep learning, one of the techniques of artificial intelligence, and people who want to learn it have increased. In order to learn deep learning, deep learning theory with a lot of knowledge such as computer programming and mathematics is required. That is a high barrier to entry to beginners. Therefore, in this study, we designed and implemented a web-based deep learning platform called DeepBlock, which enables beginners to implement basic models of deep learning such as DNN and CNN without considering programming and mathematics. The proposed DeepBlock can be used for the education of students or beginners interested in deep learning.

Augmented Reality-based Billiards Training System (AR을 이용한 당구 학습 시스템)

  • Billiards is a fun and popular sport, but both route planning and cueing prevent beginners from becoming skillful. A beginner in billiards requires constant concentration and training to reach the right level, but without the right motivating factor, it is easy to lose interests. This study aims to induce interest in billiards and accelerate learning by utilizing billiard path prediction and visualization on a highly immersive augmented reality platform that combines a stereo camera and a VR headset. For implementation, the placement of billiard balls is recognized through the OpenCV image processing program, and physics simulation, path search, and visualization are performed in Unity Engine. As a result, accurate path prediction can be achieved. This made it possible for beginners to reduce the psychological burden of planning the path, focus only on accurate cueing, and gradually increase their billiard proficiency by getting used to the path suggested by the algorithm for a long time. We confirm that the proposed AR billiards is remarkably effective as a learning assistant tool.

Battery-loaded power management algorithm of electric propulsion ship based on power load and state learning model (전력 부하와 학습모델 기반의 전기추진선박의 배터리 연동 전력관리 알고리즘)

  • In line with the current era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is necessary to prepare for the future by integrating AI elements in the ship sector. In addition, it is necessary to respond to this in the field of power management for the appearance of autonomous ships. In this study, we propose a battery-linked electric propulsion system (BLEPS) algorithm using machine learning's DNN. For the experiment, we learned the pattern of ship power consumption for each operation mode based on the ship data through LabView and derived the battery status through Python to check the flexibility of the generator and battery interlocking. As a result of the experiment, the low load operation of the generator was reduced through charging and discharging of the battery, and economic efficiency and reliability were confirmed by reducing the fuel consumption of 1% of LNG.
