Effect of Technology Commercialization Factors on Small and Medium Enterprises Performance (기술상용화 요인이 중소기업 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • In 21st century, firms are to face mitigating trade barriers between countries as well as to survive among harsh business environment. Also this phenomenon is expanding and gradually faster because the global competition become to intensify and there are significant technology changes. Therefore, in this study, technology commercialization factors on the technological achievement and on the financial performance were investigated in the small and medium enterprises. Firstly, the study finds that technology commercialization factor such as financial resources, human resources, strategic factors corporate financial performance show statistically significant(+). Secondly, the technology commercialization factors such as financial resources, human factors on the technical achievements in the enterprises show statistically significant(+). That means the technology commercialization of factors such as the financial resources as well as the human resources affect the technical performance of the enterprises.

  • 21 세기 초 경쟁 환경에서 조직이 대처하기 위한 기업환경의 패러다임도 바뀌어 가면서 지식자산은 보다 더 중요한 기업가치 창출의 요소로 자려 잡게 되었다. 그러나 아직까지 대다수의 기업은 지식경영을 수행함에 있어 조직문화나 정보기술과 같은 지식경영 영향요소 (knowledge management enabler)자체에만 초점을 맞추고 있을 뿐 이를 어떻게 전략적으로 활용할 것인가에 대한 명확한 체계를 갖고 있지 못한 것도 사실이다. 따라서 종사원들이 보유하고 있는 지식이 기업의 근본자산이 되는 호텔 기업경영에 있어 변화하는 환경에 능동적으로 대처하며, 또한 시장에서의 경쟁우위의 획득 및 유지를 위해서는 전략적 지식경영 하에서 기업의 지식경영활동이 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 관점에서 호텔기업의 지식경영전략이 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과 형식지를 중심으로 한 시스템 지향적 지식경영전략과 앙묵지를 중심으로 한 인적 지향적 지식경영전략 모두 경쟁우위 정 (+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 경쟁우위는 재무성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 지식경영전략은 재무성과에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나, 지식경영전략은 호텔기업의 경쟁우위를 획득 유지시키며 이를 통해 재무성과에 영향을 미친다고 나타났다. 이는 호텔기업에 있어서 모든 지식자산(암묵지, 형식지)를 기반으로 한 지식경영의 중요성을 인식시키고, 보다 지식경영활동을 활성화함으로써 호텔기업의 기업성과를 제고시킬 수 있는 구체적인 실행방안을 제시하였다.

Searching for Growth Engine: For the Firms Belonging to the Chaebol in the Korean Capital Markets (한국 재벌기업들의 성장 동력에 관한 재무적 결정요인 분석)

  • This study examined one of the contemporary issues that may be interesting to academics and practitioners regarding the driving force of the growth rate for the firms belonging to the chaebols in the Korean capital markets. With respect to the empirical results obtained from two hypothesis tests, the first hypothesis was to identify any financial determinants on the growth rate by applying both dynamic panel data and static panel data models. The debt ratios relevant to the book- and market-value showed their positive relationships with the DV of GROWTH1, along with other significant IDVs such as one-period lagged DV of GROWTH_1, SIZE1 and FOS with statistical significance. Second, by employing conditional quantile regression (CQR) analysis, the control variables, such as ROA, SMARKET, time dummy variable of F2010 and F2011, and the industry dummies of IND3 and IND10, provided evidence of their significant influences on DV of GROWTH1.

  • This study attempted to examine the effect of education and training on organizational performance based on HCCP research through the systematic review of previous studies. For this, 29 papers used HCCP data were selected and analyzed, and the research results are as follows. First, the research results showed that education and training had a positive effect on non-financial performance such as organizational commitment and job satisfaction, and financial performance such as sales and operating profit. Second, in order for education and training to affect organizational performance, job satisfaction, organizational culture, and education transfer were found to be important factors. Third, for effective transfer of education and training, it is necessary to establish a system that can be applied to the field after education and training, finally, it suggested the need for research to be conducted to reveal the practical effectiveness of education and training by measuring the degree to which education and training contributed to financial performance more closely.

  • In spite of the variety of business environments around start-up firms, almost all existing studies on business strategy of new IT firms. The purpose of the present research is to examine the relationships of the corporate capability, competitive advantage and performance of IT enterprise. There was much research for IT enterprise in other lands, but there was a little in Korea. Through previous literature, we can't find differences between IT enterprise strategies and common corporation strategies. So this research treats new strategies of IT. This research is explanatory and three research questions. This research focuses on the determining factors(corporate capability, competitive advantage) and management performance of IT enterprise in Busan area. In order to test the established 3 hypothesis, several multi-variate analyses are used. Factor analysis is used to reduce the competitive advantage question to its underlying factors. Finally, multi-variate regression and analysis is used to determine whether performance differences The result of this study would be useful to practitioners on management and entrepreneurship. Finally, this study is expected to encourage entrepreneurs to create new possibility in IT enterprise and to assist more new operating business strategy.

  • This study is to review the main concepts of BSC(Balance Scorecard) and compare the BSCs applied in the private and the public sectors. This comparison suggests a few important aspects that must be attended when BSC is put to use in the public organization. First, the BSC used in the public sector must put the top priority to customer perspective over financial one. The primary mission of a public organization must be the "better service" for the people. Secondly, each of BSC's four main perspectives should be modified and re prioritized according to the goals and objectives of the public organization. Finally, CSFs(Critical Success Factors) and KPIs(Key Performance Indicators) must be integrated into the framework of BSC which also incorporates already existing performance management systems. This case study shows how the redundant and unrelated performance management systems(evaluation management, government task evaluation, job performance appraisal, and customer satisfaction evaluation) are merged into the BSC performance management system in the public organization.

  • ESG management means to thoroughly consider the investor's perspective when evaluating corporate value, and environmental, social, and governance issues are continuous and strategic monitoring issues in identifying risk and opportunity factors related to corporate management activities. In other words, the perspective of value creation is reflected in business relationships. The fundamental purpose of ESG management is continuous business value creation and thorough management of investment risks and business transactions in contractual relationships. It is also a requirement of linked investors. The field that Korean companies are currently experiencing the most is the recognition that 'ESG information collection is necessary and maintenance must be prioritized' in investor IR and global sales and marketing departments, and the primary need for this is emerging. In addition, as the legal affairs office, environmental safety department, and human resources department, which conduct compliance management, carry out related tasks, clarity at the organizational level must precede in order to properly establish an information integration and management system. It covers the scope of securing new market opportunities such as management, disclosure and communication. Therefore, in regard to the newly emerging ESG management and response methods, it is necessary to review and implement it repeatedly so that sustainable exchange profits can be created by simultaneously managing non-financial risks as well as efforts to enhance corporate value for financial returns.

The Influences of SMEs' Market Orientation and Brand Orientation on Firm Capabilities and Performance in Export Markets (수출중소기업의 시장지향성과 브랜드지향성이 기업역량 및 수출성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the casual relationships among SMEs' market orientation, brand orientation, firm capabilities-technology and marketing capabilities, competitive advantage and financial performance in export markets based on the resource-based view. The data were collected from 286 cases of exporting SMEs. The results of path analysis indicated that market orientation of exporting SMEs increased technology and marketing capabilities. Market orientation directly increased both competitive advantage and financial performance in export markets. Brand orientation influenced technological capability and had indirect effects on both competitive advantage and financial performance through the firm capabilities. Based on the results, managerial implications and future research directions for exporting SMEs were provided.

Financial Analysis on Changes in Profitability for Chaebol Firms in the Post-period of the Global Financial Turmoil (국제금융위기 이후 국내 재벌 계열사들의 수익성 변화요인에 대한 재무분석)

  • The study investigates one of the long-standing, but still controversial issues in modern finance from the international and domestic perspectives. That is, financial components and differences on corporate profitability are identified and compared under the primary hypotheses. Empirical research settings include the sample data as KOSPI-listed chaebol firms, time reference covering the post-era of the global financial turmoil and two differently defined profitability indices measured by the market- and the book-value bases. A majority of total 7 explanatory variables except firm size and leverage ratio reveal their statistically significant power to explain profitability indices for the chaebol firms in the first hypothesis. The results are generally compatible with those obtained from their counterparts of non-chaebol firms. In the second hypothesis applying multinomial logistic model, the chaebol firms are classified into three groups according to the level of profitability. It is then confirmed that variables to represent the market-valued debt ratio, business risk and growth potential are financially discriminating factors among the three groups. The study may provide a new vision to identify financial factors of corporate profitability for Korean chaebol firms after the global financial crisis, which can enhance the benefits of interested parties at the government or corporate level in a virtuous cycle.

신경망기법을 이용한 기업부실예측에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구의 목적은 특정 금융기관의 주거래기업들에 대한 부실예측을 위해 주거래기업들을 잠식, 도산, 그리고 건전기업과 같이 세집단으로 구분하여 예측하고자 하며, 기업부실 예측력에 영향을 미치는 세 가지 요인으로서 표본구성, 투입 변수, 분석 기법의 관점에서 다음을 살펴보는 것이다. 첫째, 기업부실예측에서 전통적인 delta learning rule과 sigmoid함수를 사용한 역전파학습(신경망 I)과 이들의 변형형태인 normalized cumulative delta learning rule과 hyperbolic tangent함수를 사용한 역전파 학습(신경망 II)과의 예측력의 차이를 살펴보고 또한 이러한 두가지 신경망기법의 예측력을 MDA(다변량판별분석) 결과와 비교하여 신경망기법에 대한 예측력의 유용성을 살펴보고자 한다. 둘째, 세집단분류문제에서는 잠식, 도산, 건전기업의 구성비율이 위의 세가지 예측기법의 결과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 세째, 투입 변수선정은 기존연구 또는 이론을 바탕으로 연구자의 판단에 의해 선택하는 방법과 다수의 변수를 가지고 통계적기법에 의해 좋은 판별변수의 집합을 찾는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 방법들에 의해 선정된 투입변수들이 세가지 예측기법의 결과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구의 실증분석 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 신경망기법이 두집단에서와 같이 세집단 분류문제에서도 MDA보다는 더 높은 예측력을 보였다. 2) 잠식과 도산기업의 수는 비슷하게 그리고 건전기업의 수는 잠식과 도산기업을 합한 수와 비슷하게 표본을 구성하는 것이 예측력을 향상하는데 도움이 된다고 할 수 있다. 3) 속성별로 고르게 투입변수로 선정한 경우가 그렇지 않은 경우보다 더 높은 예측력을 보였다. 4) 전통적인 delta learning rule과 sigmoid함수를 사용한 역전파학습 보다는 normalized cumulative delta learning rule과 hyperbolic tangent함수를 사용한 역전파 학습이 더 높은 예측력을 보였다. 이러한 현상은 두집단문제에서 보다 세집단문제에서 더 큰 차이를 나타내고 있다.
