  • Through inductive content analysis, this study sought to examine the crisis experienced by the institution, the quality of service, and the distrust of the system and institution based on the experience of distrust in the home-visiting care service of bbeneficiary and guardians. FGI was conducted on five managers of institutions that provide home-visiting care services. As a result, the central phenomenon was found: deterioration of service quality, distrust of systems and institutions, and difficulties in opera-ting long-term care institutions. In order to improve the quality of home-visited care services and build trust in care workers and institutions, first, home-based associations or operating corporations should develop new education program plans and manuals to strengthen the capabilities of care workers and social workers. Second, the NHIS's monitoring system and the professional management system of care workers should be established. Third, it is necessary to improve awareness of the role, expertise, and rights of care workers, and fourth, improvement measures are required to reduce the turnover rate of care workers, which is the cause of the deterioration of the quality of long-term care services.

  • As the provision of long-term care policy takes root and with a gradual increase in elderly population, the use of elderly care service has become a growing norm. More than ever, there exists an urgent need for a paradigm shift in the building of an institutional basis for the improvement of care service, from the prevalent practice of 'need based service' toward the concept of 'human rights based service'. A great focus is being shed on care-workers, at the 'front line' of advocating human rights, as their human rights advocacy behaviour is seen as a key variable in providing high quality care service for elders. This study aims to examine how care-workers' individual human rights awareness levels, and the influence of their respective organizations, as an environmental factor, affect their human rights advocacy behaviour. The study includes a comprehensive analysis of the interactions between the regulatory effect of environmental factors (service orientation?) on an organizational level, human rights awareness (individual level) and the service environment (organizational). The analysis sample consisted of 782 registered non-profit corporation of long-term care facilities all over the country in 2014. The findings of the thesis suggest that human rights awareness at individual levels has a significant influence on human rights advocacy behavior. The interaction of human resources management in service orientations was also found to influence human rights advocacy on a significant level. Both human rights awareness at individual level and service orientations at organizational level were thus determined as key variables for improving the human rights awareness of care worker in long-term care facilities in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among potential job-related risks, emotional dissonance, and job turnover intention of caregivers at the long-term care facilities in South Korea, and to explore the potential mediator role of burnout in this association. For the study, survey data of 434 caregivers at long-term care facilities were collected and analyzed using structural equation modeling method. The results showed that high level of caregivers'perception of the potential job-related risks led to increased burnout and turnover intention of caregivers. Second, caregivers'burnout partially mediated the effect of the potential job-related risks on turnover intention. Third, the more caregivers experience emotional dissonance, the higher the possibility of caregivers'burnout. On the other hand, emotional dissonance of caregivers did not give significant direct impact on turnover intention. Burnout fully mediated the relationship between emotional dissonance and turnover intention of caregivers. Lastly, the more caregivers experience burnout, the higher possibility of turnover intention. Based on the results, researchers suggested possible intervention methods as well as preventive measures to reduce the turnover of caregivers at long-term care facilities.

  • This research, with the participants of the female elderly using a home-visit bath among long-term care services, made an in-depth analysis of what they experience while getting a home-visit bath. We conducted in-depth interviews with 8 elderly people. According to the result, the female elderly experienced the absence of a caregiver, difficulty in carrying out daily life due to physical diseases, getting what they need by themselves, getting comfortable in body and mind, accepting their given situation though feeling shame at getting a bath, and expressing their desires. In addition, they had a close relationship with a care helper. On the basis of the results, a systematic training system which could intensify the professionalism of care helpers was suggested. For the enhancement of the elderly's emotional stability in a long-term care, an integrated case management system was also suggested, which supports the family by organizing an integrated network by region between a long-term care service, home-visit care service, welfare center, and the National Health Insurance Corporation.
