Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the status and trends of Korean child occupational therapy intervention studies according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health, Children and Youth Version (ICF-CY). Methods : In this research, 47 studies on occupational therapy interventions for children that were published between January 2017 and December 2021 in the Journal of Occupational Therapy, registered in the Korea Citation Index, and analyzed the classification of the study type and evidence level to understand the trends. Moreover, intervention objectives and approaches were analyzed on the basis of the ICF-CY. Results : The outcomes of the analysis of the articles published in the Journal of Occupational Therapy were as follows: (1) Level IV was the highest evidence level (53.19%). (2) Among the studies, most (53.7%) included school-age children as subjects. Autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays were the most common diagnoses (14.8%). (3) As for the purpose of intervention according to ICF-CY, activity and participation factors were the most common (48.94%), and a sensory approach was frequently used. Conclusion : This study reviewed articles on occupational therapies for children that were published in the Journal of Occupational Therapy to understand the trends in occupational therapy interventions for children in South Korea. For the development of occupational therapies for children in the future, more qualitative research types and studies on various intervention approaches are needed.

Objective : This study was conducted to investigate the effects of occupation-based group cooking program on executive function for children in community children's center. Methods : The children who participated in the study were 7 to 9 years old. This study was based on a one-group pre-posttest design, which the group cooking program included making of sandwiches, frog-shaped hamburgers, patbingsu, sausage gimbap, and flowerpot cupcake. This study consisted of five activity sessions, which each session lasted for 120 minutes. Effectiveness of the program was measured by using the STROOP Color and Word Test, Children's Color Trails Test and Assessment of Motor and Process Skills. Results : The differences between pre and posttest scores on STROOP Color and Word Test and the process skill score of Assessment of Motor and Process Skills were statistically significant. There was no difference significantly between pre and posttest scores in Children's Color Trails Test-2. Conclusion : This study demonstrated that the group cooking program intervention has effects on cognitive inhibition executive function and performance executive function of children in the community children's center. This study suggests that occupation-based intervention can be applied to various clients in the community setting.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to systematically analyze the methods by which virtual reality (VR)-based occupational therapy interventions are applied to disabled children and adolescents and to assess their effectiveness. Methods : The RISS, DBpia, KCI, Science Direct, and CINAHL MEDLINE databases were searched for relevant literature from January 2012 to August 2022. The main search terms used were "virtual reality," "work therapy," "youth," "virtual reality," "occupational therapy," "child," and "adolescent." A total of 16 documents were selected for analysis by the 4th stage of the PRISMA flowchart. Results : In the 16 selected studies, VR-based occupational therapy when used with children and adolescents with disabilities and was shown to have meaningful effects. Among the types of cerebral palsy covered in the studies, the most common was hemiplegia, and the evaluation tools used for measurement of the VR effect were daily activities, cognition, exercise technology, social-interaction technology, and visual-perception evaluation. Nintendo wii and Microsoft Kinect produced the VR tools most commonly used to improve motor skills and daily life. Conclusion : The results of this study indicate that VR interventions can be used effectively in clinical practice. In the future, they may assist in the diagnosis of disabled children and adolescents, in helping to select VR tools that are suitable for the purposes of intervention, and in the presentation of specific methods.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of a single-subject research study and qualitative levels in which occupational therapy interventions were performed on children with cerebral palsy. Methods : This study targeted papers, published in Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), National Digital Science Library (NDSL), Koreanstudies Information Service System (KISS), and E-article from May 20 to 29, 2022. The search terms were 'cerebral palsy' AND 'single subject research design' OR 'individual subject study'. Eleven papers, were finally selected and analyzed. Results : Most of the studies were medium in methodological quality, and the subjects were pre-school age and spastic hemiplegia. Among the single-subject designs, intervention-removal designs were the most common, and among them, ABA designs were the most common. Interventions included assistive devices, constraint-induced therapy, neurodevelopmental therapy, and sensory integration therapy were 2, and upper extremity exercise, interactive metronome, and CO-OP were 1. Dependent variables were measured with 2 to 4 measurement tools, Significant improvements were found in postural control ability, gait and balance, hand function, and upper extremity function. Conclusion : This study confirmed that it is helpful to apply cerebral palsy occupational therapy by presenting the characteristics of cerebral palsy, intervention sessions and effects, measurement tools and methodological quality levels.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to provide evidence for a systematic analysis of occupational therapy evaluations and interventions for the activities of daily living of children and adolescents. Methods : The research period was from 2010 to September 2019. The articles were collected from the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) and Koreanstudies Information Service System (KISS) databases. The key words were 'pediatric occupational therapy & activities of daily living', 'pediatric occupational therapy & self care', 'pediatric occupational therapy & self management', 'pediatric occupational therapy & occupation', 'occupational therapy & eating', 'occupational therapy & AMPS (Assessment of Motor and Process Skills)', 'occupational therapy & WeeFIM (Functional Independence Measure for children'. Results : A total of 14 studies were analyzed, the qualitative level IV, V of the study was 72% of the total research. The diagnosis of participants included 50% intellectual disorder and 20% brain lesion, including cerebral palsy. The most frequently used method to assess the activities of daily living was Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). The most frequently used method to therapy was sensory integration therapy. The intervention effect of all studies was positive, however, the use of group programs on the occupational therapy on children with intellectually disorder didn't work. Conclusion : In Korea, there are no articles that systematically analyze whether occupational therapy improves the activities of daily living in children and adolescents.
Objective : This study implemented occupation-based practice as a group program for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, and investigated the quality of occupational performance, performance and satisfaction, and efficacy levels of the program. Methods : ADOC-S(Aid for Decision making in Occupation Choice-School) and COPM(Canadian Occupational Performance Measure) were used to establish common meaningful occupational goals for 10 children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. After occupational analysis of the 'subway use', the Performance Quality Rating Scale(PQRS) were used to evaluate the quality of occupational performance. Occupation-based interventions were implemented by participants individually performing meaningful occupations in the most natural and real-life environments as possible. The trial consisted of 1 session of pre-intervention assessments, 8 sessions of intervention, where a single session of 100 minutes is provided once a week. Post-intervention evaluation was conducted over one session. Results : The quality of occupational performance by PQRS was 38.10 higher than before intervention. The occupation-based intervention as a group program used the maintain and modify(compensation, adaptation) approaches and acquisition model. In the early stages of intervention (1 to 4 sessions), the occupational performance was greatly improved. The performance level of COPM increased by 5.80 and the satisfaction level was increased by 7.00. In addition, high scores were found in program satisfaction through parental interview. Conclusion : The results of implementing occupation-based interventions to children with neurodevelopmental disabilities showed increase in quality of occupational performance, performance, and satisfaction along with positive effects of satisfaction levels for the program.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to provide evidence for a systematic analysis of occupational therapy interventions for the activity and participation of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Methods : The articles used in this study were collected from the RISS, KISS, and DBpia databases. The key words used were "children and occupational therapy" "children and sensory integration," "adolescent and occupational therapy," "adolescent and sensory integration," "developmental disorder and occupational therapy," and "developmental disorder and sensory integration." The research period was limited to January 2008 to August 2018. Seven articles in total were selected for systematic analysis. Results : Most of the included works were single-case studies, and most subjects dealt with the autism spectrum disorder. The majority of the interventions used involved sensory integration. Occupational therapy interventions were self-care (33%), major life area (33%), learning and application (11%), communication (11%), and mobility (11%). Conclusion : This study will help with understanding the current state of occupational therapy interventions for the activity and participation. On the basis of this understanding, various studies on this subject are expected to be conducted in the future.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to provide an evidence for clinical practice by systemic analysis on occupational therapy interventions for improvement of children's play. Methods : Articles used in this study were collected from database of Pubmed, ProQuest, EBSCOhost, Scopus, RISS, KISS, and National Library of Korea. The key words used in the search were "Play AND Occupational Therapy AND (Intervention OR Treatment)" and the publication period was limited from January 2007 to April 2017. 11 articles in total were selected for the systematic review analysis. Results : The results revealed that the majority of studies was one-group non-randomized study and the majority of intervention used was play-based intervention in case of that play itself was the intervention goal. The most frequently used environment for the intervention was parallel setting of home and treatment room. The majority of studies was for children with ADHD and the most commonly used assessment tool was Test of Playfulness (ToP). Dependent variables measured along with play were language skills, social interactive skills, communication and pragmatic skills, problem-solving skills, caregiver responsiveness, and parent-child interaction. Conclusion : This study help to understand the current state of occupational therapy intervention for improvement of children's play. Starting with the understanding, it is expected that various studies on play of children will be done in the future.

Objective : Purpose of this study is to discuss benefits and implications of the clinical reasoning process and re-evaluation in the OTIPM by introducing a single case that occupational therapy intervention is provided based on the OTIPM. Methods : The case subject is a boy aged 5 years and 10 month who had diagnosed as attachment disorder and anxiety disorder from a pediatric psychiatrist before. The boy is referred to sensory integration therapy clinic and underwent occupational therapy intervention service twice a week for four month. Therapeutic activities for the intervention were consisted of sensory integration activities for restorative model, care-giver education for educational model, and performance skill training for acquisitional model. Measurements used in the initial evaluation are JSI-R, DDST-2, Social Maturity Test, KPPS-R, and observation-based performance task analysis. For the performance task analysis, performance skill items were constructed based on the Occupational Therapy Process Framework (OTPF), and those were assessed by the evaluation system of Assessment of Motor and Process Skill (AMPS) and Evaluation of Social Participation (ESI). Results : The detail process of implementing of the OTIPM in this study is reported by following four phases; 1) establish client-centered performance context; 2) establish baseline and interpret cause (initial evaluation); 3) intervention planning and implementing; and 4) recognize intervention outcome (reevaluation). Conclusion : In this case, occupational therapist could provide the client an occupation-based intervention within comprehensive performance context based on the OTIPM. Therapist could clearly identify the cause of problematic performance skills and behaviors and so provide effective intervention to improve client's occupational performance. Additionally, it was found that client's satisfaction of the intervention can be raised when the concept of 'who is the client' is expanded based on the OTIPM. From this study, it is proposed that OTIPM may be a model educible 'comprehensive' enhancement of 'specific' occupational engagement, as it considers both improvement of occupational performance and satisfaction.
Objective : This case study examined the evaluation of occupational therapy and plan to intervention of community asperger syndrome child receiving coping model. Methods : We selected child which 7-year-old boy. Evaluation periods were 2weeks which consisted of external factors and internal factors. External factors were made up interaction of subject, environments and participation of school and community. Internal factors were made up observation and structured evaluation about development state and medical conditions. Also it included observation of appropriate mood and emotions. Results : After evaluation receiving coping model, we planed to intervention. First, subject able to use his time effectively. Second, we'll have intervention program about delayed fine motor areas. Third, we'll educate self-control skills and coping skills of subject's action which not controlled himself. Fourth, we'll find the personal and physical sources to care subject. Conclusion : Our research has planed occupational therapy intervention receiving coping model of asperger syndrome subject. Future research need to practical applications.
