Spinal instability known to be related to low back pain. However, the quantitative definition of spinal instability has not been established because there is a lack of consensus regarding clinical and radiological studies. In addition, the major factors affecting such instability have not been elucidated, although disc degeneration, disc injury, ligament injury, and isthmic defects are considered to result in such problems. In this study, individual and combined influences on spinal instability with a three-dimensional finite element model of a one-level lumbar spinal motion segment were investigated, under the assumption that the rotation and translation in the sagittal plane under flexion and extension represented the instability indices. The results could be helpful in understanding the causes and mechanisms of spinal instability in the lumbar spine.
The purpose of this study is to examine differences in mental health indices such as self-compassion, trait anxiety, and depression, and color preference based on Sasang Constitution type. This study also explored the relationships among self-compassion, trait anxiety, and depression. 205 adults were surveyed for participants of this study. A Two-Step Questionnaire (TS-QSCD) was conducted to diagnose Sasang Constitution such as Tae-yangin, Tae-yinin, So-yangin, and So-yinin. Also, scales for self-compassion, trait anxiety, depression level, and color preference were utilized for measures. The results showed that among Sasang Constitutional groups, Ta-yangin had a higher level of self-compassion and lower trait anxiety than So-yinin. Furthermore, in relationships among mental health indices, trait anxiety and depression tendency were lower with higher self-compassion. No significant differences were revealed in depression level and color preference based on Sasang constitution. Finally, implications of this study for mental health were suggested and limitations were discussed.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to explore comparison of clinical characteristics among Anxiety disorder, Depressive disorder, and Co-morbid of Anxiety disorder and Depressive disorder. Methods : Since January, 2017 to May, 2019, patients were recruited from the department of psychiatry of Hanyang University Guri Hospital. Participants were diagnosed Anxiety disorder, Depressive disorder, and Co-morbid of Anxiety disorder and Depressive disorder using DSM-5 criteria by board certified psychiatrists or clinical psychologists. And each of participants tested with MMPI-2 and clinical psychologists were converted MMPI-2 to MMPI-2-RF. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. Results : The results indicated EID, RC2, HLP, SAV, and INTR-r were the highest in Co-morbid of Anxiety disorder and Depressive disorder group. And BXD, RC4, JCP, and AGGR-r were the highest in Depressive disorder group. Conclusions : The results indicated that Co-morbid of Anxiety disorder and Depressive disorder group were more severe internalizing dysfunction like lower positive emotion, helplessness, social avoidance and discomfort than single-diagnosed group. Single Depressive disorder group were more serious externalizing dysfunction like anger and aggression than single Anxiety disorder and Co-morbid of Anxiety disorder and Depressive disorder. The implications and limitations were discussed.
This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of art and craft activities on anxiety and stress of stroke patients. Patients diagnosed with stroke were selected according to select the study target, 9 patients with experimental group receive art and craft activities, 9 patients with control group receive traditional occupational therapy for 30 minutes per each session 3 times a week for total 8 weeks. Art and craft activities were structured through a group of occupational therapy practitioners interview. A comparison of two groups after the intervention showed that the experimental group had a more significant on the anxiety and stress(p<.05). These result demonstrate that art and craft activities decrease anxiety and stress for stroke patients, therefore is expected to be useful in clinics.

Purpose: This study is done to identify how a clinical practice orientation program would affect anxiety, self-esteem and self-efficacy in college students in nursing. Method: Data was collected from 127 nursing students in February, 2008. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS/Win 12.0 program, using t-test, ANOVA, paired t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: The total mean scores were; anxiety 53.22/80, self-esteem 29.51/40 and self-efficacy in 59.76/85. Self-esteem and self-efficacy level were significantly different according to the level of Fundamentals practice and satisfaction with nursing as a major satisfaction(p=.001). The effect of the orientation program on clinical practice were a significantly increased in self-esteem and self-efficacy (p=.000). But in terms of anxiety, the effect was the opposite. So study to identify other factors causing anxiety and strategies to reduce the anxiety need to be considered. Conclusion: It is important to improve self-esteem and self-efficacy and the study results indicate that an orientation program is one strategy that needs to be developed to meet these needs for college students in nursing.
Injury of posterolateral corner is unusual, but it can cause disability due to severe instability and cartilage damage. However, the anatomical structures, diagnosis and treatment have not defined clearly yet. Posterolateral corner injury is regarded as the one of main factor to the results of failure in cruciate ligament reconstcution if it was undiagnosed and untreated. Diagnosis of postetolateral corner injury is consists of physical exam, radiographic finding, MRI, and arthroscopic findings. The treatment method of of postetolateral corner injury depends on the time and severity of injury. Anatomical reconstruction of posterolateral corner shows the better clinical outcome than non anatomical reconstructions, but the clinical results of long term follow up is still needed. Therefore, the aim of this article is to review the recent literatures and to organize diagnosis and treatment of posterolateral corner injury.
The depression and anxiety are the most popular mental disorders and not easy to distinguish because of their lots of similarities in the diagnostic criteria, related theories, and clinical symptoms. In this article, we developed the affect scale for distinguishable diagnosis, utilized the relationships between the Positive and Negative affect, and the depression and anxiety. We made up the seed scale of the items which selected by partial correlation, and set the scoring up by multiple regression method. The Multi-dimentional affect scale is reliable and working similarly as the scales used before, but less correlated to each other. We conclude that the affect scale achieved the diagnosis for distinguish between depression and anxiety. Our suggestions for the further study are to redeem the cultural differences, modify by the elaborate methods, and validate by the actual clinical data.
The purpose of this study was to develop a computer-based cognitive bias modification program (CBM-I) and to test the efficacy of CBM-I for college students with social anxiety. Forty socially anxious individuals were randomly assigned to the CBM-I(n=21) or a waiting list condition(n=19). Both groups were assessed at the beginning and the end of the program with interpretation bias and social anxiety symptoms(e.g. B=FNE=Brief-Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale, LSAS=Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale). The CBM-I modified interpretation by providing positive feedback when participants made benign interpretations and negative feedback in response to threat interpretations. Participants in CBM-I completed three computer sessions over three weeks. The CBM-I successfully decreased social anxiety symptoms compared to the control condition(t=2.35, p<.05; t=4.70, p<.001). This result suggests that interpretation modification may have clinical utility when applied as a multi-session intervention.

Objectives: Anxiety and depression are known to be associated with hypertension, and blood pressure can vary spontaneously throughout the day. The aim of this study was to evaluate anxiety, depression and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (24-h ambulatory BP) in employees at their worksite. Methods: A total of 107 volunteers among 136 employees at a hotel in Gyeongju, Korea were enrolled in this study between December 2009 and March 2010. The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were used to assess anxiety and depression, respectively. Blood pressure was measured using a 24-h ambulatory BP monitoring system. Results: No significant differences in either BAI or BDI scores were found when hypertensive individuals were compared to normotensive individuals. The frequency of diastolic non-dipper was significantly higher in individuals with depressive symptoms compared to those without (p<0.05). Depression was significantly associated with diastolic non-dipper (OR: 6.85, 95% CI: 1.50-30.01). Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that depression should be considered when deciding upon blood pressure control regimens, and appropriate additive psychotherapy may be beneficial in the treatment of hypertensive patients.
