Seismic Resistance of Concrete-filled U-shaped Steel Beam-to-RC Column Connections (콘크리트채움 U형 강재보 - 콘크리트 기둥 접합부의 내진성능)

  • In this study, the seismic details of a concrete-encased, U-shaped steel beam-to-RC column connection were developed. Three specimens of the beam-to-column connection were tested under cyclic loading to evaluate the seismic performance of the connection. The test parameters were the beam depth and the column section shape. The depths of the composite beams were 610 and 710 mm, including the slab depth. For the RC columns, a square section and a circular section were used. Special details using diagonal re-bars and exterior diaphragm plates were used to strengthen the connections with the rectangular and circular columns, respectively. The test results showed that the specimens exhibited good strength, deformation, and energy dissipation capacities. The deformation capacity exceeded 4% interstory drift angle, which is the requirement for the Special Moment Frame.

  • With the ever-changing medical tourist environment, the study has delved into issues ranging from judged value on medical tourist service quality and its effect on the service level and recurring rate of return visit through the quantitative analysis with the survey for a group of tourists from Japan, China, USA and the interview survey on medical specialist on tourists. Verifying the Hypothesis 1 reveals the assertion that quality of medical service for tourists has effected upon the functional value has proven to be true except the cases on responsiveness and accessibility. And the assumption that the quality of medical service for tourists has effected upon the emotional value has proven to be true except the case on accessibility. The paper has its limitation in that it is confined to medical tourists of small numbers of target countries, relatively short survey period. The study shall be followed by the further analysis on the factors for medical tourists' personal and societal effect

  • Advances in display technology, stereoscopic (S3D) in the development of social interest in the content development approach is high but it does not make the standardization of interactive 3D content creation performance is very poor. In this paper, real-time video input from an infrared camera that is based on eye tracking implementation user interface developed 3D interactive adventure game "HowSee" was the process of developing skills in the process, an efficient 3D content production methods were presented. unnormalized S3D-based game content production process on how this development occurred in the trial and how to troubleshoot S3D games, etc. to streamline content creation can be a basis for.

The Tasks of Comparative Literary Studies and The Literary Transnationalism (비교문학의 과제와 문학적 트랜스내셔널리즘)

  • In this paper, I suggest methodological ways of studying comparative literature regarding ongoing discussions of world and national literature. The role of comparative literature studies has widened in the contemporary era, in which nations have become rapidly entangled and the concept of the world as a unified entity is under question. In this regard, I critically review the traditional principles of the hospitality of cosmopolitanism and the exclusivity of the borders of national literatures. Further, I suggest that scholars adopt the concept by Sigmund Freud of "unfamiliar familiarity" as a methodological motive for studies of comparative literature. Based on this concept, scholars can further develop the unique methods of the discipline of comparative literary studies for teaching and research amidst the ongoing phenomenon of globalization. They can also use these methods to simultaneously contribute to solving the problem of "comparison without a unifying category of the world," as revealed by the results of deconstructional and postcolonial studies. Regarding community-based discussions of literature, I introduce the "bridge and door" metaphor, put forth by Georg Simmel, as a key concept in methodological consideration of translation and in comparative literary studies. In this paper, adopting the metaphor of the bridge and door as an intertextual and social model for comparative studies, I define the new role of comparative literary studies in literary transnationalism, which is particularly necessary when different languages and cultures overlap and become entangled. Regarding the rapidly changing contemporary world community, comparative literary studies, as an experimental discipline, is uniquely capable of examining this kind of community, which forms itself beyond and beneath individual nations.

  • The purpose of this study is to experimentally evaluate the structural behavior of built-up type column consisted of angles and y-shape steel sheet forms for filling concrete. This column for minimizing form working and reinforcement placing is able to improve capacity of construction and reduce the term of works. Thirteen 1/3 scaled columns were fabricated. The main variables are 1) effect of angles and y-shape steel sheets of fabricated columns, 2) slenderness of column, 3) eccentricity of column. The results show that the experimental capacity of built-up type column is similar to theoretical one by reinforcement concrete design code. The maximum loads increase according to the rate of angle to cross section of column.

Flexural Test for Prefabricated Composite Columns Using Steel Angle and Reinforcing Bar (앵글과 철근을 조립한 PSRC 합성기둥의 휨 실험)

  • PSRC column is a concrete encased steel angle column. In the PSRC column, the steel angles placed at the corner of the cross-section resists bending moment and compression load. The lateral re-bars welded to steel angles resist the column shear and the bond between the steel angle and concrete. In the present study, current design procedures in KBC 2009 were applied to the flexure-compression, shear, and bond design of the PSRC composite column. To verify the validity of the design method and failure mode, simply supported 2/3 scaled PSRC and correlated SRC beams were tested under two point loading. The test parameters were the steel angle ratio and lateral bar spacing. The test results showed that the bending, shear, and bond strengths predicted by KBC 2009 correlated well with the test results. The flexural strength of the PSRC specimens was much greater than that of the SRC specimen with the same steel ratio because the steel angles were placed at the corner of the column section. However, when the bond resistance between the steel angle and concrete was not sufficient, brittle failures such as bond failure of the angle, spalling of cover concrete, and the tensile fracture of lateral re-bar occurred before the development of the yield strength of PSRC composite section. Further, if the weldability and toughness of the steel angle were insufficient, the specimen was failed by the fracture of the steel angle at the weld joint between the angle and lateral bars.

Cyclic Loading Tests of Concrete-Filled Composite Beam-Column Connections with Hybrid Moment Connections (복합모멘트접합을 갖는 콘크리트 충전 보-기둥 합성접합부의 반복하중 실험)

  • In the present study, hybrid moment connections of welding and bar reinforcement for composite beam-column connections were proposed. Concrete-filled octagonal tube and U-section were used for the column and beam, respectively. In the beam-column connection, the top flange and web of the beam U-section were connected to the column plate by welding. However, to reduce stress concentration at the weld joints, the bottom flange of the beam was not welded to the column plate. Instead, to transfer the tension force of the beam flange, reinforcing bars passing through the column plate were used. Four exterior connections with conventional welded and hybrid moment connections were tested under cyclic loading and their cyclic behaviors were investigated. The test results showed that the hybrid moment connections successfully transferred the beam moment to the column. The strength and ductility of the hybrid moment connections were comparable to the conventional welded moment connection with exterior diaphragm; however, the connection performance was significantly affected by the details of the hybrid moment connection.

Cyclic Loading Test for TSC Beam - PSRC Column Connections (TSC 합성보 - PSRC 합성기둥 접합부에 대한 주기하중 실험)

  • In the present study, details of the TSC beam-to-PSRC column connection for low and middle seismic zones were developed. For ease construction, the top and bottom flanges of the steel section of the TSC beam were discontinuous at the joint face on purpose, while the web passes through the joint. Thus, tensile resistance of the top and bottom flanges is not considered in the calculation of nominal strength of the connection. Cyclic loading tests on two interior connections and an exterior connection were performed to verify the seismic performance. The test parameter for two interior connections was the depth of the TSC beams: 600 and 700 mm including the slab depth. The test results showed that the nominal strength of the connections predicted by KBC 2009 correlated well with the test results. The connection specimens exhibited relatively good deformation and energy dissipation capacities, greater than the requirements for the ordinary and intermediate moment frames. Ultimately, the connection specimens were failed at the story drift ratios of 3.0 to 4.0 % due to local buckling and tensile fracture of the web of the TSC beam passing through the joint. By modifying the existing provisions of ASCE, the joint shear strength of the TSC beam-PSRC column connection was evaluated.

Seismic Tests of Steel Beam-to-column Moment Connections with Inclined End-plate Beam Splice (경사단부강판 보 이음을 갖는 강재 보-기둥 모멘트접합부의 내진실험)

  • A beam splice method using inclined end-plates and high-strength tension bolts was developed. The end-plates welded to a bracket and a spliced beam are connected each other by using the tension bolts. In the present study, six exterior beam-to-column moment connections were tested under cyclic loading. Test parameters were the end-plate details and bolt arrangements. All specimens were designed so that moment resistances of the end-plates and bolts were greater than the required moment at the beam splice, in accordance with the design methods of AISC Design Guide 4. Test results showed that in the beam splices with the extended end-plates, the beam moment successfully transferred to the bracket, without any defeats such as excessive prying action of the end plates and brittle failure at the end plate-to-beam flange weld joints. However, the deformation capacities of the overall beam-to-column connections were limited due to the brittle failure of the beam-to-column flange weld joints. From the test results, recommendations for seismic design and detailing of the beam-to-column moment connection with inclined end-plate beam splice were given.

  • 영예의 대통령상이 수여되는 한국건축문화대상의 대상이 올해부터 '비주거'와 '주거'로 나뉘어 확대, 시상한다. 그 첫번째 수혜자로 비주거부문은 김삭식 건축사(주.금성 종합건축사사무소 대표)가 설계하고, (주)금호산업이 시공한 '광주광역시청사'가 주거부문에는 김종국(주.종합건축사사무소 건원)건축사가 설계하고, 현대산업개발(주)이 시공한 '아이파크 삼성동'이 국내 준공건축물들을 대상으로 한 2004한국건축문화대상에서 영예의 대상으로 각각 선정됐다. 또 올해 한국건축문화대상에서는 KT여의도사옥 등 6작품이 본상을 차지한 것을 비롯해 우수상 등 모두 22개 작품이 수상작으로 선정됐다. "불이 - Architecture in NatureㆍNature in Architecture"를 주제로 공모한 일반 및 신인ㆍ학생 대상의 계획건축물부문에서는 박종대, 윤새봄, 김정희(인하대학교 건축공학과대학원 건축의장연구실)씨가 공동 출품한 'Plankton House'가 금상을 차지한 것을 비롯해 은상 2팀, 동상 3팀 입선 22점 등 모두 28개 팀이 입상했다. 올해 한국건축문화대상에는 준공건축물부문 89점, 계획건축물부문 252점 등 총 341개 작품이 응모했다. 비주거 부문의 대상을 차지한 광주광역시청사는 "관 건물의 이미지를 탈피하여 하나의 문화 건물로 탈바꿈하려는 시도가 특히 돋보이는 작품으로 시공에도 많은 어려움이 있었음에도 불구하고 완성도가 우수한 작품"이란 평을 받았다. 또한 주거 부문의 아이파크 삼성동은 "아파트이면서도 주상복합의 이미지를 구현시키면서 판상형 형태에서 벗어나 탑상형 배치에 의한 낮은 건폐율 적용으로 친환경적인 단지를 이루고 있으며, 특히 시공이 매우 우수한 작품"이란 평을 받았다. 한편 올해부터 우리나라 건축문화발전을 위해 기여한 건축인을 발굴해 시상하는 '올해의 건축인상'을 제정, 그 첫번째 수상자로 김석철 건축사(아키반건축도시연구원 건축사사무소)와 이창남 건축사(센구조 건축사사무소)가 선정되어 건설교통부장관상을 받았다. 시상식은 지난 11월 24일 서울 종로구 세종로 세종문화회관 컨벤션홀에서 개최되어 대상의 비주거부문 수상작의 설계자인 김상식 건축사에게 대통령상 그리고 시공자인 (주)금호산업에게는 건설교통부장관상, 건축주인 광주광역시장에게는 국무총리상이 수여됐다. 또한 주거부문 수상작의 시공자인 현대산업개발(주)에게 대통령상 그리고 설계자인 김종국 건축사에게는 국무총리상, 건축주인 현대산업개발(주)에게는 건설교통부장관상이 수여됐다. 또 KT 여의도빌딩 등 본상 6개 작품의 설계자 및 시공자에게는 건설교통부장관상 등 정부포상이, 준공건축물부문 우수상 입상자 전원에게는 각각 대한건축사협회장상, 서울경제신문사장상이 수여됐다. 계획건축물부문의 금상 수상자에게는 건설교통부장관상과 상금이 수여되었으며, 은상과 동상, 입선작은 대한건축사협회장상과 상금이 각각 수여됐다. 아울러 동상이상 수상자 중 영어 인터뷰심사를 거쳐 2명을 선발, ARCASIA 학생잼버리대회 파견 특전이 주어진다. 건설교통부와 대한건축사협회, (주)서울경제신문이 공동주최하고 대한주택공사 등 건설관련 5개 단체가 후원하는 한국건축문화대상은 올해로 13회째 개최되고 있다. 더욱이 올해에는 대통령상을 두 부문으로 나누어 시상하는 등 그 폭이 넓어져 수상자에게 더 큰 영예를 주었으며, 시간이 흐를수록 그동안 기성 건축인들의 창작의욕 고취는 물론 건축저변을 크게 확대하였다는 평과 아울러 우리 건축문화 창달에 기여해 한국건축문화대상은 명실공히 국내 건축인은 물론 일반 국민의 대표 건축축제로 자리매김하고 있다.
