This study aims at exploring the transnational care for family members back home among the Nepalese marriage immigrant women in Korea on the bases of some transnational care practices like remittances, virtual intimacy through information and communication technologies, visit to Nepal, and invitation of family members to Korea. This study argues that in order to understand migrant women's care practices properly, Nepalese marriage immigrant women should be considered as 'being in-between' the societies and cultures of Nepal and Korea. This study identifies the characteristics of transnational care practices of Nepalese women are closely related to the role expectation for the eldest daughter as well as whether or not migrant women have children, jobs, and original family member in Korea. Furthermore, this study highlights that migrant women's transnational care practices should be considered as 'reciprocal exchange of cares' between marriage women and their family members rather than one-way benefits going to the latter.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the perception and demand of child care teachers regarding the support project for part-time substitute teachers in Busan. Methods: A survey was conducted on 6,141 childcare teachers participating in the Busan part-time substitute teacher support project, and the data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: First, an examination of the perception of part-time substitute teacher support projects based on the type of daycare center revealed significant differences in all aspects, except for whether they choose to reapply. Second, an analysis of the demand for part-time substitute teacher support projects, categorized by the type of daycare center, indicated significant differences. Conclusion/Implications: The findings of this study furnish valuable insights for the equitable and effective implementation of the part-time substitute teaching assistant support project, taking into account the distinct characteristics of various daycare centers. Additionally, the results offer essential foundational data to guide the strategic direction of the part-time substitute teaching assistant support project.

The U.S. military has been developing support policies for the soldiers dispatched overseas and their families since WWI. It is classified by the period nowadyas as follows. Prior to the dispatch, support for money and housing issues is mainly provided. During the dispatch, the DOD level community is formed to strengthen relations between the soldiers and their families, check their children's academic achievements, etc. After returning to the military, the mental and physical health care for not only the soldiers but also their families is provided. Based on these facts, this research proposes that the ROK MND's overseas dispatch instruction upgrade to law in order to provide housing support, even if the families don't live in military houses. Simultaneously, an online community is needed to be open for sharing information between them, their children's educational achievements, etc. More importantly, the mental health care for both the sodiers and their families is provided for a certain period.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of fathers' playfulness and play participation on preschoolers' peer competence. Methods: The participants in the study were 325 preschoolers and their fathers. The survey method was used to investigate fathers' playfulness, fathers' average level of play participation as well as playtime with their children and preschoolers' peer competence. In order to analyze the data, one-way ANOVA and regression analysis were utilized. Results: The results showed that fathers' playfulness and play participation were different according to the fathers' weekly working hours. It was found that the higher the cheerfulness of the sub-factors of fathers' playfulness was, the higher the sociability of sub-factors of preschoolers' peer competence was. The amount of fathers' play time with children as well as the average level of play participation, which is the qualitative aspect of fathers' play participation, was found to affect preschoolers' peer competence and the three sub-factors of competence. Conclusion/Implications: The findings implied that fathers' active play participation with children is important and that there is a need to improve working conditions in order for fathers to have time to play with their children.
The purpose of this study was to find out various problem behaviors of children who were not diagnosed with any disability, but instead, engaged in problem behaviors. This study also intended to review the difficulties of children with problem behaviors, their teachers' difficulties and needs, to suggest support for child care and education teachers. This study conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with eight child care and education teachers. The interviews were transcribed into text and analyzed by contents. The results of this study are as follows. Problem behaviors of children described by teachers were classified into external and internal types. In addition, children with problem behaviors had experienced difficulties in maintaining relationships with their teachers, peers and parents. Many teachers were not successful to provide appropriate support for preschoolers who demonstrated problem behaviors in classrooms or some teachers provided individualized support. Teachers adapted the behavioral and the psychological approaches to problem behaviors of preschoolers. However, teachers reported difficulties with children with problem behavior and brought up the following issues on teaching children with problem behaviors; managing troubled matters happening in the class, difficulty in controlling teacher's emotions on problem behaviors, the lack of time, the integrated child care time without teacher in charge of child, the interruption in activity progress, the lack of a special way to deal with problem behaviors, and difficulty in cooperation with families through parents-teacher counseling sessions. Teachers counseled with parents who had a child with problem behaviors and revealed that parents reacted to problem behaviors in various ways such as embarrassment, acceptance, ignorance, or avoidance. Most teachers received assistance and support for teaching children with problem behaviors, from families, local communities and in-service training. Lastly, teachers with preschoolers with problem behaviors needed the support of experts on managing behavior problems, assistant teaching personnel, education for parents and teachers, respects for teachers, psychological counseling or play therapy from professional service agencies, diagnosis service at child care and education centers which children attended, and support networking with agencies. Teachers also required the family support of medical diagnosis and psychological counseling and financial support from the government.
This study seeks the implications for the Korean family welfare policies after examining the characteristics of fertility rates and family welfare policies of advanced OECD countries, and comparatively analyzing the fertility rates among clusters of countries having similar family welfare policies. The fertility rates of most advanced OECD countries declined below the population replacement level in the 1970s, and continuously declined slowly after that period. But in the 1990s the fertility rate of some countries increased, on the other hand that of other countries declined. Such a difference of fertility rates suggests that there is some correlation between the fertility rate and the family welfare policy of each country. Advanced countries became concerned about the decline of fertility rate, established the government Population Issues Committee in order to deal with population problems, and increased family welfare supports. But the level and pattern(focusing on maternal employment supports or child-rearing supports) of each country's family welfare policies are differently developed according to its political ideology, cultural and historical background, and economic environments. A comparative assessment of the fertility rate among clusters of countries having similar family welfare policies demonstrates that the higher the level of family welfare supports is and the level of maternal employment supports in comparison with that of maternal child-rearing supports is, the higher of fertility rate is. And a comparative assessment of the fertility rate changes among clusters of countries also shows that the higher the level of family welfare supports is and the level of maternal employment supports in comparison with that of maternal child-rearing supports is, the higher the increase of fertility rate is or the lower the decrease of fertility rate is. The implications for the Korean family welfare policies are summarized as follows. First, it is necessary to establish the government Population Issues Committee which can study systematically fertility rates and population problems, and provide comprehensive population measures. Second, family welfare supports should be expanded through the establishment of family allowances, the prolongation of maternity leave and child-care leave and the upward readjustment of child-care leave benefits, and the extension of public child-care facilities. Third, maternal employment supports such as public child-care facilities and maternity leave should be given more weight than maternal child-rearing supports such as family allowance. Fourth, it is required to prepare social environments which can provide the youth with the hope that child-rearing is not difficult and gives them happiness.
The purpose of this study is to examine the satisfaction and needs of mothers living in J innovation city with the child-rearing environment. A survey was conducted on 223 mothers with young children. The results are as follows: First, parents' needs on all items of economic, social and physical child-rearing environment were higher than their satisfaction on the items. Second, according to the reasons why parents are moving to J innovation city, there were significant differences between groups in their educational environment among subcategories of the economic and physical child-rearing environment. Third, according to the residential area they previously lived in, there were differences between groups in their child-rearing environment, such as the conditions of house location and educational environment among subcategories of the economic and physical child-rearing environment. The limits and implications for the administrational support for building a hopeful child-rearing environment in an innovation city were discussed.
Objective: The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of early childhood teachers' current working conditions such as welfare and wages, working hours, ECEC center's environmental characteristics, and parental involvement and community engagement on the professionalism of teachers. Method: A total of 988 respondents participated in the nationwide online survey. The data were analyzed by correlation analysis and structual equation modeling. Results: First, there were no statistically significant direct effects of ECEC teachers' working conditions on teacher professionalism. Second, there were significant direct effects of teacher efficacy and well-being on teacher professionalism. Third, there were significant indirect effects of teachers' working conditions on their professionalism, via efficacy and well-being, linking the impact of working conditions and the professionalism of teachers. Conclusion/Implication: The results of this structural model imply that policy input for teacher welfare, wage increases, and the enhancement of teachers' well-being and efficacy are valid and significant for the professional development of ECEC teachers. These results provide the data-driven evidence for the importance of welfare and socio-cognitive approaches for teachers.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the parental role that men experience during parental leave. From the moment when a man decides to take parental leave, to his experiences during parental leave, and to the father's role that lasts until after reinstatement, this course will be examined. Methods: The subjects of this study were five fathers who were taking parental leave. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews done on Zoom, telephone calls and e-mail. Results: The results are as follows. First, the motive for the father's decision to take parental leave was that he wanted to take a break from work and to spend time with his children. Second, the father had experiences of a caregiver and secure-base for his ones. Also, he experienced intergenerational transmission of his parental role. Third, the father's role was maintained even after parental leave. Conclusion/Implications: The decision to take parental leave was a process of conformation of one's own decision. The parental role of the father was experienced through daily life and interaction with his children. And that continued even after parental leave.
To commonly apply the ${\ulcorner}$Measurement parameter for housewives for rearing-related supports of a husband${\lrcorner}$ in Korea and Japan, the current study conducted to confirm the relationship between recognition of a housewife for rearing-related supports of a husband and mental health after reviewing the appropriateness of the parameter. For the statistical analysis, 829 married Korean women in D city and 1,302 Japanese women in S city having children before entering a school were subjected for the study. For reviewing the appropriateness of the parameter, the simultaneous factor analysis that adopted the structural equation modeling was used. As the result of the analysis, 10 categories of factor structural model comprising the ${\ulcorner}$Recognition of a housewife for rearing-related supports of a husband${\lrcorner}$ resulted with the secondary model which sets of ${\ulcorner}$Recognition for emotional support${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner}$Recognition for instrumental support${\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner}$Recognition for information support${\lrcorner}$ as the primary factor and ${\ulcorner}$Recognition of a housewife for rearing-related supports of a husband${\lrcorner}$ as the secondary factor, and the model was found to be appropriate for the data in Korea and Japan. The result is considered to prove the constructs validity of ${\ulcorner}$Recognition of a housewife for rearing-related supports of a husband${\lrcorner}$ parameter. In addition, the relationship between ${\ulcorner}$Recognition of a housewife for rearing-related supports of a husband${\lrcorner}$ and mental health(GHQ) was reviewed by using multiple indicator model, and found the similarity of Korean and Japanese data. The scores measured by using the above parameter resulted to show high relationship with educational level of housewife, family configuration, and number of children.
