Soft Error Detection for VLIW Architectures with a Variable Length Execution Set (Variable Length Execution Set을 지원하는 VLIW 아키텍처를 위한 소프트 에러 검출 기법)

  • With technology scaling, soft error rate has greatly increased in embedded systems. Due to high performance and low power consumption, VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) architectures have been widely used in embedded systems and thus many researches have been studied to improve the reliability of a system by duplicating instructions in VLIW architectures. However, existing studies have ignored the feature, called VLES (Variable Length Execution Set), which is adopted in most modern VLIW architectures to reduce code size. In this paper, we propose how to support instruction duplication in VLIW architecture with VLES. Our experimental results demonstrate that a VLIW architecture with VLES shows 64% code size decrement on average at the cost of about 4% additional cell area as compared to the case of a VLIW architecture without VLES when instruction duplication is applied to both architectures. Also, it is shown that the case with VLES does not cause extra execution time compared to the case without VLES.

Insulation Characteristics of $SF_6/N_2$ and $SF_6/N_2/Co_2$ Mixture Gases in Non-Uniform Fields (불평등전계하에서의 $SF_6/N_2$$SF_6/N_2/Co_2$ 혼합가스의 절연 특성)

  • 환경친화적 가스절연기기의 개발을 위해 $SF_6/N_2$와 완충기체와의 혼합가스에 관한 연구가 주목받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 GIS 설계에 있어 기초가 되는 준평등전계 하에서의 가스 절연특성을 검토하기 위하여 순 SF6, N2, CO2 이들이 혼합된 2종 및 3종 혼합가스에 대해 가스압력 0.6MPa 이하에서 상용교류전압을 인가하여 실험에 의해 그 부분방전특성과 절연특성을 조사하였다. 특히 실용 전력기기의 경우 금속이물질 등의 혼입에 의해 기기 내에서 불평동전계가 형성되어 부분방전을 거쳐 절연파괴에 이르는 가능성이 있으므로 본 연구에서는 불평등전계하의 절연특성을 검토하였다. 실험 결과 SF6/N2 2종 혼합 가스에 비하여 SF6/N2/CO2 3종 혼합 가스의 교류 절연 특성이 향상됨을 확인하였으며 이상의 결과로부터 교류 절연 파괴 특성만을 고려하였을 경우 SF6/N2/CO2 3종 혼합 가스가 SF6 대체 혼합가스로써 타당성을 확인하였다.

Component Metrics Based on Static and Dynamic Characteristics between Classes for Component based Systems (컴포넌트 기반 시스템에서 클래스들 간의 정적 그리고 동적 특성을 적용한 컴포넌트 메트릭스)

  • In component-based system, the qualities of components as reusable units are the most important to success the component-based development. Therefore, before software implementation phase, the designed components should be measurable to improve the qualities of the components and the measured results should be reflected in the component-based development phase. In addition, the qualities of the components should be measured accurately. Accordingly, this paper proposes cohesion and coupling metrics applying static and dynamic dependency characteristics by the interdependence between classes. We prove the theoretical soundness of the proposed metrics by the axiom of briand et al. A case study and a comparison with the conventional metrics verify the practicality of the proposed metrics. The development times and endeavors to design the components is reduced, because the proposed metrics measure the qualities of components accurately.

DSP based Narrow-Band Signal Power Detector for Tracking Control of Satellite Antenna (위성통신안테나 추적제어를 위한 DSP 기반의 협대역신호 전력 검출기)

  • This paper presents DSP based narrow band satellite communication signal power detector for tracking control of mobile satellite antenna system. An analog filter based conventional power detector has poor performance due to frequency drift of carrier. Also, it is very difficult to change an analog filter bandwidth according to changed bandwidth of transmitted signal. To solve these difficulties, we proposed DSP based signal power detector, which is easy to change bandwidth of filter and to match shifted frequency of carrier. The proposed signal power detector consists of a FFT function to measure frequency drift of carrier, a programmable filter bank function to limit of received signal bandwidth and a power calculation function to measure power of filtered signal in 12-bit linear scale. Test results of implemented signal power detector, based on TMS320C5402 DSP, showed that it satisfied required functions and performances and properly operated.

Application of GeoJSON to Geo-spatial Web Service (지공간정보 웹 서비스에서 GeoJSON 적용)

  • Web on Web 2.0 paradigm is regarded as a kind of platform. Accordingly, users on web can use almost same applications like using certain applications on personal computer, to given purposes. For Web as platform, it needs web-based or web-recognizable file format to communicate or to exchange various information contents and data among applied applications. Text-based JSON is a practical format directly linked Javascript on Web, so that XML-typed data, being previously built, can be possible for tagging process containing JSON format. However, GeoJSON handling geo-spatial data sets is now fledgling stage in standards. Thus, it is not on the practical applicability level, and there are a few tools or open sources for this format. To adopt GeoJSON for the future Geo-web application, users implement GeoJSON parser or apply the server-based open source GIS for their purpose. In this study, a preliminary work for GeoJSON application in Geo-web service carried out using Google Maps API and openlayers library API.

  • Apartment complex, buildings, markets and department stores have inner parking lots which can accept many cars but drivers waste lots of times to find the empty parking spaces in crowding parking lots. In this paper, we proposed the inner parking information support system based on microprocessor which can decrease roaming times to find vacant parking spot in confusing parking lots through notice monitor and provide SMS to make it easy to find parked place. Proposed system consist with RFID system for detecting access of cars, microprocessor system for processing data of checking existence of cars on parking spots and communicating with server, and server system which processes information of cars' in and out, guides empty parking spots and parked location to drivers. Suggested system is realized by handmade model parking lot size of 8 cars, and we confirmed practicality by providing information using parking notice monitor and single message service.

  • The pressing process is a compression process in which a product is made by applying force to a heated or unheated material to transform it into the desired shape. Due to the characteristics of press equipment that produces products through continuous compression for a short time, product defects occur continuously, and systems for solving these problems are being developed using various technologies. This paper proposes a real-time defect detection system based on an artificial intelligence algorithm that detects defects. By attaching various sensors to the press device, the relationship between equipment status and defects is defined and collected based on a big data platform. By developing an artificial intelligence algorithm based on the collected data and implementing the developed algorithm using an embedded board, we will show the practicality of the system by applying it to the actual field.

  • With the development of online education due to COVID-19, the EduTech market, which combines new technologies such as AI and AR/VR in education is rapidly growing. In addition, the children's industry is steadily growing despite the decreasing birth rate every year as more and more families with one child per household are investing in their children. However, supply of contents to EduTech market is slow compared to demands that are increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to help solve these problems by developing and supporting AR kids contents with convenience, practicality, and efficiency using AR technology. AR content for supporting vocabulary learning for infants is not just an end to watching and listening, but an observation-driven model that can manipulate content directly, which attracts children's interest and helps children learn words. This paper is intended for infants from 15 months to 36 months old when full-fledged language development occurs.

  • The space Debris laser ranging system is called to be a definite type of satellite laser ranging system that measures the distance to satellites. It is a system that performs POD (Precise Orbit Determination) by measuring time of flight by firing a laser. Distance precision can be measured in mm-level units, and it is the most precise system among existing systems. Currently, KASI has built SLR in Sejong and Geochang, and utilized SLR data to verify the precise orbits of the STSAT-2C and KOMASAT-5. In recent years, due to the fall or collision of space debris, its satellites have been threatened, and in terms of security, laser tracking of space objects is receiving great interest in order to protect their own space assets and protect the safety of the people. In this paper, a 1.5m-class main mirror was applied for the system design of a multipurpose laser tracking system that considers satellite laser ranging and space object laser tracking. System preliminary performance analysis was performed based on Link Budget analysis considering specifications of major components.

Design and implementation of blockchain-based anti-theft protocol in Lora environment (Lora 환경에서 블록체인 기반 도난방지 프로토콜 설계 및 구현)

  • With the development of communication infrastructure, the number of network equipment owned by one person is gradually increasing. General-purpose devices such as smartphones can implement theft/loss prevention function by implementing S/W. However, other small devices lack practicality such as long-distance communication problems due to standard communication technology specifications or H/W limitations, and lack of functions(authentication and security). This study combines the Lora communication protocol in the LPWA standard environment and the blockchain technology. Anti-theft and security functions were added to the protocol, and the PBFT consensus algorithm was applied to build a blockchain network. As a result of the test, the effectiveness of safety(authentication and trust network) and performance(blockchain processing performance) were confirmed. This study aims to contribute to the future development of portable or small device anti-theft products as a 4th industrial convergence research.
