  • The purpose of this study was to develop a workbook that can support the class and evaluation of the subject, 「Food safety and health」 and to verify its validity. The development direction of the workbook was set by analyzing the 「Food safety and health」 curriculum, dietary education materials, and previous studies related to the workbook, and the overall structure was designed by deriving the activity ideas for each area. Based on this, the draft was developed, and the draft went through several rounds of cross-review by the authors and the examination and revision by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, before the final edited version was developed. The workbook was finalized with corrections and enhancements based on the advice of 9 experts and 44 home economics teachers. The workbook consists of 4 areas: the 'food selection' area, with 10 learning topics and 36 lessons, the 'food poisoning and food management' area, with 10 learning topics and 36 lessons, the 'cooking' area, with 11 learning topics and 43 lessons, and the 'healthy eating' area, with 11 learning topics and 55 lessons, resulting in a total of 42 learning topics, 170 lessons. The workbook was designed to evenly cultivate practical problem-solving competency, self-reliance capacity, creative thinking capacity, and community capacity. In-depth inquiry-learning is conducted on the content, and the context is structured so that self-diagnosis can be made through evaluation. According to the validity test of the workbook, it was evaluated to be very appropriate for encouraging student-participatory classes and evaluations, and to create a class atmosphere that promotes inquiry by strengthening experiments and practices. In the current situation where the high school credit system is implemented and individual students' learning options are emphasized, the results of this study is expected to help expand the scope of home economics-based elective courses and contribute to realizing student-led classrooms with a focus on inquiry.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the current Status and practical use of technology laboratory at the junior high school in Chungbuk Province in order to give some suggestions on hands-on activities for technology education. First, concerning present actual conditions of technology laboratory, There was a large disparity between the urban and rural schools in the possession of a technology laboratory, as the rate of the schools equipped with the rooms respectively stood at 69.84 percent and 33.38 percent in the urban and rural regions. By the type of foundation, every national school, 86.24 percent of the public schools and 37.50 percent of the private schools were equipped with the technology laboratory. By school size, 35.59 of the schools with fewer than 10 classes, 62.11 percent of the schools with 10 to fewer than 30 classes and 85.71 percent of the schools with 31 classes or more were in possession of the laboratory. Thus, the type of foundation and school size made differences to that. As a result of asking the schools without the laboratory about the reason, as many as 88.52 percent had been equipped with the laboratory in the past but converted them into spaces for another purpose. When the schools that had no such laboratory were asked a question whether they had any plans to install a technology laboratory, just five schools(8.19%) had that plan. Second, as for the practical use of the technology laboratory, for what the rooms were actually used was asked, and most of the schools made use of them as Comprehensive General laboratory. As to the size of the rooms, each of the rooms was as large as a classroom($66m^2$) in 62.12 percent of the schools, and their region, type of foundation and student gender made little significant differences to that. Regarding the time for utilizing the laboratory, the majority of the schools used the laboratory approximately once or twice a year, and their region, type of foundation, student gender and school size made few distinctive differences to that. In terms of budget for practice in the rooms, the largest number of the schools that accounted for 36.36 percent earmarked three thousand won to less than five thousand won per student.

  • The development of smart devices has brought about significant changes in daily life and one of the most significant changes is the virtual reality zone. Virtual reality is a technology that creates the illusion that a 3D high-resolution image has already been created using a display device just like it does in itself. Unrealized subjects are forced to rely on audiovisual materials, resulting in a decline in the concentration of practices and the quality of classes. It used virtual reality to develop effective teaching materials for radiology students. In order to produce a video clip bridge using virtual reality, a radiology clinic was selected to conduct two exposures from July to September 2017. The video was produced taking into account the radiology and work flow chart and filming was carried out in two separate locations : in the computerized tomography unit and in the LINAC room. Prior to filming the scenario and the filming route were checked in advance to facilitate editing of the video. Modeling and mapping was performed in a PC environment using the Window XP operating system. Using two leading virtual reality camera Gopro Hero, CC pixels were produced using a 4K UHD, Adobe, followed by an 8 megapixel resolution of $3,840{\times}2,160/4,096{\times}2,160$. Total regeneration time was performed in about 5 minutes during the production of using virtual reality to prevent vomiting and dizziness. Currently developed virtual reality radiation and educational contents are being used to secure the market and extend the promotion process to be used by various institutions. The researchers will investigate the satisfaction level of radiation and educational contents using virtual reality and carry out supplementary tasks depending on the results.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate pre-parenthood education program(PPEP) based on Home Economics(HE) subject for high school students. The development and evaluation of PPEP based on HE subject in this study followed ADDIE model except implementation through 4 processes such as analysis, design, development, and evaluation. First, program development directions were set in three aspects such as 'general development', 'contents', and 'teaching and learning methods'. Themes of the program are 11 in total such as '1. Parenting, what is being a parent', '2. Choosing your spouse, happy marital relationship, the best gift to your children', '3. Pregnancy and birth, a moving meeting with a new life', '4. Taking care of a new born infant for 24 hours', '5. Taking care of infants, relationship with my lovely baby, attachment', '6. Taking care of young children, my child from another planet', '7. Parents and children in healthy family', '8. Parent-child relationship, wise parents to make effective interaction with their children', '9. Parents safety manager at home,', '10. Practice to take care of infants', and '11. Practice of community nurturing support service development'. In particular, learning activities of the program have major characteristics such as 1) utilization of cases including practice problems related to parenting, 2) community exchange activities utilizing learned knowledge and techniques, 3) actual life project activities utilizing learning contents related with parenting, 4) activities inducing positive changes in current life of high school students, and 5) practice activities for the necessities of life such as food, clothing and shelter supporting development of children. Second, the program was developed according to the design. Teaching-learning plans and materials for 17 classes were developed according to 11 themes. The developed plans include class flow and teacher's reference. It starts with receiving a class-related message from a virtual child at the introduction stage and ended with replying to the message by summarizing contents of the class and making a promise as a parent-to-be. That is the basic frame of class flow. Learning materials included various plans and reports necessary for learning activities and they are prepared in details so that they can be play the role of textbooks in regular curriculum. Third, evaluation of developed program was executed by a 5 point Likert scale survey on 13 HE experts on two aspects of program development process and program development results. In the evaluation of development process, mean value was 4.61 and index of content validity was 97.4%. For development results, mean value was 4.37 and index of content validity was 86.9%. These values showed that validity in the development process and results in this study was highly secured and confirmed that PPEP based on HE was appropriate and valid to enhance parent qualifications of high school learners.

  • In this study, a practice-based teacher education program was developed and applied to improve the TPACK of pre-service chemistry teachers. Also the program effect and obstacles were confirmed by measuring the development of TPACK. The participants of this study were 20 pre-service chemistry teachers of 3rd grade and 2 pre-service chemistry teachers of 4th grade who took chemistry education courses at K University located in Chungcheongbuk Province. The developed teacher education program consisted of four stages: preparation, rehearsal, practice, and reflection. The feedbacks from researchers and colleagues pre-service teachers were provided in preparation, rehearsal, and reflection stages. As a result of the study, the program of this study did not show an educational effect in the "constructive learning activities" of preservice teachers, but it was found to have an educational effect in "problem solving". In other words, in "constructive learning activity", most pre-service teachers were at 0 level before and after the program. The pre-service teachers designed the class to unilaterally provide technology to simply use it as a tool to explain subject content or revise misconceptions, and learners can passively acquire knowledge. However, in the case of "problem solving", the pre-service teachers who were at level 0 before the educational program changed to level 1. Before the program, the pre-service teachers designed classes to solve problems by memory without using technology, but after the program they planned classes that provides opportunities to approach and solve various problems through the technology presented by the teacher. However, there were not many pre-service teachers corresponding to level 2, which constitutes voluntary learning in which learners use technology to solve various problems while selecting and variously manipulating technology. In addition, as obstacles to the TPACK development of pre-service chemistry teachers, there were external factors such as lack of classroom support environment for TPACK implementation, lack of time for education planning, and inadequate technology competency. And there were internal factors such as perspectives of traditional education and negative attitude toward technology. In particular, the proportion of pre-service teachers who preceived inappropriate technical competency as an external obstacles of TPACK development was high. Therefore, it was necessary to develop an education program corresponding to type 2 or type 3 that enables TPACK development through TK for pre-service teachers.

  • This study aimed to investigate the current state and suggest future directions of children's and young adult literature education in Library and Information Science(LIS) departments in Korean universities. Courses related to children's and young adult literature in 34 LIS departments in Korea were investigated, and in-depth interviews and surveys were conducted with professors and instructors who have experience teaching courses related to children's and young adult literature in LIS departments. The results show there are on average 1.7 courses related to children's and young adult literature in undergraduate programs. 36% of schools had less than one course related to children's and young adult literature, and most of them were Reading Guidance courses. 83%(24 out of 29 people)of the survey participants said they teach children's and young adult literature in their classes. The professors and instructors spent the most of their lecture time on picture books. They spent the minimum time on genres such as SF, Fantasy, and manhwa. Lack of time to teach so many things in short 16 weeks made them feel rushed and distressed. Some survey respondents regarded themselves as non-experts in children's and young adult literature, even though they had competency in that field, which shows the general atmosphere in the LIS field that LIS people are not qualified enough to be experts in children's literature. All interviewees and some survey respondents insisted children's and young adult literature education in the LIS departments should be practical. Professors and instructors tried their best to incorporate diverse teaching methods, including discussions, storytelling, writing reviews, so their students can acquire proper knowledge on children's and young adult library services.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze pre-service teachers' perceptions and change on the images about young children. The subjects of this study were 31 students in the early childhood department at a university. It was a longitudinal study conducted for four years. The data regarding the images that students had about young children were collected by having them answer a question. The question was "Young children are... Because of..." Subjects were asked to answer that question when they were freshmen and then, to answer the same question when they were seniors in order to see the change. A content analysis and frequency were conducted. The study of the results could be summarized as follows. Firstly, from their first year to senior year, the images that pre-service teachers perceived such as, vibrant active beings and beings with various characteristics" did not change. However, the images such as "being who was capable of interacting with environments" had changed. And the new image which viewed a child as a being who should be respected emerged. Secondly, the factors that influenced the image changes were based on the experience of working as assistant teachers at an early childhood setting, and practicum. Therefore, a systematic work on assistant teachers should be done and a concept about child-center education should be built.

  • In this study, an enriched in-service program for teaching scientific creativity was developed and implemented using the scientific creativity activities developed by Park, Park, & Lee (2008). In this program, science teachers performed scientific creativity activities by themselves and practiced the development of actual teaching materials. As a result, science teachers mentioned that they could achieve their goals by learning about various actual teaching materials and teaching strategies for gifted education. They also mentioned that the in-service program was interesting, had appropriate levels of learning difficulty, and that they would apply the teaching programs and teaching strategies to actual gifted education. Observing teachers' actual learning processes during the in-service training course, it was found that they actually participated in the in-service program for a long time intensively and could improve conceptual understanding in depth, but it was necessary to long-term creative thinking practice for being beyond the level of students' creative activities. Finally, from the analysis of teaching materials developed by teachers at the final step of the in-service program, it was found which aspects were developed well or were unsatisfactory, therefore, these findings could be applied for more improved in-service programs.
