  • Recently, with the widespread adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in the construction industry, various object detection algorithms have been used to verify errors between 3D models and actual construction elements. Since the characteristics of objects vary depending on the type of construction facility, such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels, appropriate methods for object detection technology need to be employed. Additionally, for object detection, initial object images are required, and to obtain these, various methods, such as drones and smartphones, can be used for image acquisition. The study uses a 360° camera optimized for internal tunnel imaging to capture initial images of the tunnel structures of railway and road facilities. Various object detection methodologies including the YOLO, SSD, and R-CNN algorithms are applied to detect actual objects from the captured images. And the Faster R-CNN algorithm had a higher recognition rate and mAP value than the SSD and YOLO v5 algorithms, and the difference between the minimum and maximum values of the recognition rates was small, showing equal detection ability. Considering the increasing adoption of BIM in current railway and road construction projects, this research highlights the potential utilization of 360° cameras and object detection methodologies for tunnel facility sections, aiming to expand their application in maintenance.

  • Smart factory environments and digital twin environments are established, and today's factories accumulate vast amounts of production data and are managed in real time as visualized results suitable for user convenience. Production simulation techniques are in the spotlight as a way to prevent delays in delivery and predict factory volatility in situations where production schedule planning becomes difficult due to the diversification of production products. With the development of the digital twin environment, new packages are developed and functions of existing packages are updated, making it difficult for users to make decisions on which packages to use to develop simulations. Therefore, in this study, the concept of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) performed based on discrete events is defined, and the characteristics of various simulation packages were compared and analyzed. To this end, studies that solved real problems using discrete event simulation software for 10 years were analyzed, and three types of software used by the majority were identified. In addition, each package was classified by simulation technique, type of industry, subject of simulation, country of use, etc., and analysis results on the characteristics and usage of DES software were provided. The results of this study provide a basis for selection to companies and users who have difficulty in selecting discrete event simulation package in the future, and it is judged that they will be used as basic data.

  • In systems like the combat management system of a naval ship or smart city of civilians, where many sensors and actuators are connected, the middle-ware DDS (Data Distribution Service) is mainly used to transmit large amounts of data. It is scalable and can effectively respond to the increase in sensors or equipment connected to the system in the future. The engineering control system (ECS), which plays an important role similar to the combat management system of a naval ship, still uses Server-Client model with industrial protocols such as Modbus and CAN (Controller Area Network) bus, to transmit data, which is unfavorable in terms of scalability. However, as automation and unmanned systems advance, more sensors and actuators are expected to be added, necessitating substantial program modification. DDS can effectively address such situations. The purpose of this study is to confirm the development possibility of an integrated monitoring and control system of a ship by using OpenDDS, which follows the OMG (Object Management Group) standard among the middle-ware DDS used in the combat management system. To achieve this goal, field equipment simulators and an ECS server were configured to perform field equipment data input/output and simulation using DDS was performed. The ECS prototype successfully handled data transmission, confirming that DDS is capable of serving as the middle-ware for the ECS of a ship.

  • Pathogens of fire blight can survive for a long time on pruning tools, etc., and fire blight can be spread through agricultural implements. In particular, in Korea, pruning is frequently performed to remove flowers, immature fruits, and succulent shoots, and this farm work is known to be a major factor of the spread of fire blight. Therefore, in this study, in order to completely sterilize pathogens on pruning shears, we verified the disinfection effect of disinfectants distributed domestically and used them to identify an effective disinfection method. When disinfecting by immersion after inoculating Erwinia amylovora TS3128 on the scissor blade, 70% ethanol and 1% and 0.2% sodium hypochlorite sterilized immediately 10 sec after immersion, while 30% chlorine dioxide showed little disinfection effect. When disinfecting by spraying, 70% ethanol sterilized bacteria 1 sec after spraying, but 1% and 0.2% sodium hypochlorite disinfected bacteria after 10 and 60 sec, respectively. After cutting the naturally disease occurring branches five and 100 times, the bacteria were not hardly sterilized in immersion treatment in 70% ethanol for 30 sec but perfectly disinfected over 60 sec. Considering these results, pruning shears should be disinfected by frequently immersing them in 70% ethanol for at least 60 sec during pruning work in the field.
