Constructing Norms in Elementary Mathematics Classrooms (초등학교 수학교실에서 형성되는 규범에 관한 연구)

  • There has been an increasing concern of how mathematical idea indicates and shares in a way to promote students' mathematical development. Such ideas highlighting need of the culture of mathematics classroom in mathematical education. The culture of mathematics classroom was constructed classroom social norms, sociomathematical norms, and classroom mathematical practice. This paper investigated how sociomathematical norms were constructed in two elementary mathematics classrooms by two different teachers.

  • When scenes in the real world are perceived for the purpose of computer/robot vision fields, there are great deals of texture based patterns in them. This paper introduces a texture feature representation on a coordinate system in which many different patterns can be represented with a mathematical model (Gabor function). The representation of texture features of each pattern on the coordinate system results in the high performance/competence of texture pattern classification. A decision tree algorithm is used to classify pattern data represented on the proposed coordinate system. The experimental results for the texture pattern classification show that the proposed method is better than previous researches.

  • Various applications running in computers exchange information in the form of packets through the network. Most packets are formatted into UDP/IP or TCP/IP standard. Network management administrators of enterprises and organizations should be able to monitor and manage packets transmitted over the network for Internet traffic measurement & monitoring, network security, and so on. The goal of this paper is to analyze the performance of several algorithms which closely examine and analyze payloads in a DPI(Deep Packet Inspection) system. The main procedure of packet payload analysis is to quickly search for a specific pattern in a payload. In this paper, we introduce several algorithms which detect a specific pattern in payloads, analyze the performance of them from three perspectives, and suggest an application method suitable for requirements of a given DPI system.

  • 여러 사람에게서 생체신호를 측정하여 특징을 추출하는 경우 피실험자마다 다른 신체적 또는 생리학적 특징에 의해 같은 클래스로 분류하고 싶어도 다른 클래스로 잘못 분류되는 경우가 발생한다. 이와 같이 N 명의 사람에게서 얻은 생체신호로 M 개의 클래스를 분류하도록 훈련하여 새로운 사람의 생체신호를 M 개의 클래스로 분류하고자 할 때 발생하는 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 피실험자 독립적인 클러스터링 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위한 수학적 기반으로 동치관계들의 교집합과 합집합에 근거한 새로운 연산자를 정의하고 이를 이용하여 최대 공통 클러스터(Largest Common Cluster, LCC)라는 새로운 개념을 정의한다 이는 여러 사람에게서 얻은 정보에서 최대한 공통의 성질을 갖는 것들을 찾아내는 수학적이고 체계적인 방법이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 일단 LCC를 찾아내면 이를 특징(feature)으로 삼아 패턴분류기를 설계하면 여러 사람에게 적용가능한 생체신호 인식기를 설계할 수 있게 된다.

  • The Resealed range statistical analysis and Hurst exponent which are standard methods to test the chaotic model are used to examine sinusoid pattern. We notice that the Hurst exponent can be used as a measure to examine the time series data that show semi-cyclic trend with noise.

  • We review the eastern frog jump game and the western solitaire to apply the Baduk Pieces Game to mathematical education. This study introduce a didactical method of Baduk Pieces Game which is constructed with simplification, generalization, and extension. This didactical applications of the Baduk Pieces Game gives the students opportunities of patterns, generalization, and problem solving strategies.

  • 기존 데이터의 패턴 예측에는 통계를 기반으로 한 수학적 모델이 주로 사용되었으나 새로운 데이터에 대한 피드백이 부족하기 때문에 장기간의 데이터 예측에 한계가 있다. 또한 데이터의 특성이 다양하고 복잡한 경우에는 수학적 모델의 결합 및 계산과정이 어려워진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 데이터의 학습 및 예측에 기존 정적 모델이 아닌 기계학습 중 시계열 데이터 분석 (Time Series Analysis) 을 기반으로 연구를 진행하였다. 기계학습은 복잡한 특성을 가진 데이터를 학습하여 미래의 데이터 값을 예측하거나 분류하는데 있어서 정확도 및 처리시간 측면에서의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다.

Autobiographies of Teachers as Qualitative Inquiry on the Teaching Mathematics (교사의 자서전을 통한 수학 수업 연구)

  • This study was on autobiographical traditions, in particular, autobiographies of teachers. First, autobiographical method was suggested as a kind of qualitative inquiry on the teaching mathematics. Second, as a case of autobiographical method, autobiographies of an elementary school teacher were presented. In the case, the author of autobiographies was also a researcher. It showed the struggles of elementary school teacher to know and to practice her teaching mathematical patterns. Autobiographies of teachers can be used as good sources for reflection of teachers, and also as a method for teachers education. And then, for communicating with teaching strategies among teachers in communities, they can be used. One the other hand, autobiographies of teachers can be powerful materials for researches on teaching.

  • Cognitive subject imposes structures on an object to shape it into a structured thing. Structures that the subject imposes on an object in a given problem context can be diverse horizontally and vertically. In view of the horizontal diversity of structure, problem-solving activities focusing on various structures may enrich the present problem-solving education which emphasizes applying and comparing a couple of problem-solving strategies. Finding an algebraic formula for a figural pattern should be regarded as a new starting point of searching for more various structures. In view of the vertical diversity of structure, it should be aware that students may see different structures from the structure that their teacher expect them to see. The vertical diversity of structure enables us to provide students with experience of progress.

A Study on the Nature of the Mathematical Reasoning (수학적 추론의 본질에 관한 연구)

  • The aims of our study are to investigate the nature of mathematical reasoning and the teaching of mathematical reasoning in school mathematics. We analysed the process of shaping deduction in ancient Greek based on Netz's study, and discussed on the comparison between his study and Freudenthal's local organization. The result of our analysis shows that mathematical reasoning in elementary school has to be based on children's natural language and their intuitions, and then the mathematical necessity has to be formed. And we discussed on the sequences and implications of teaching of the sum of interior angles of polygon composed the discovery by induction, justification by intuition and logical reasoning, and generalization toward polygons.
