  • This paper represents 3D line segment extraction method, which can be used in generating 3D rooftop model. The core of our method is that 3D line segment is extracted by using line fitting of elevation data on 2D line coordinates of ortho-image. In order to use elevations in line fitting, the elevations should be reliable. To measure the reliability of elevation, in this paper, we employed the concept of self-consistency. We carry out the experiment of 3D line extraction using synthetic images generated from Avenches data set of Ascona aerial images.

  • A segment matching algorithm in stereo vision via the fusion of multiple features on long edge segments is proposed. One problem of the previous segment matching algorithm is the similarity among the segments caused from its short length. In the proposed algorithm, edges are composed of longer segments which are obtained by breaking the edges only at the locations with distinguished changes of the shape. Such long segments can contain extra features such as curvature ratio and length of segments which could not be included in shorter ones. Use of such additional features enhances the matching accuracy significantly To fuse multiple features for matching, weighting value determination algorithm which is computed according to the degree of the contribution of each factor is proposed. The stereo matching simulations with the proposed algorithm are done about various images and their results are included.

Experimental results indicate that the proposed method shows average 30 line errors of .16 - .30 meters, which are about $10\%$ of the conventional area-based method.

  • A Mobile Robot should be able to navigate safely in the workspaces without any additional human's helps. In this paper, a method to generate the safe path to avoid the unknown obstacles using the pre-knowledge of the workspaces was proposed. For the efficiency of the algorithm, it is proposed to model the obstacles as the line segments in numerical map, which can reduce the required memory size and give the simple forms. To make the environments map, we used the Hough transform and the sonar measurements is converted to the set of line segments by Hough transform. In this algorithm, the subgoals are generated to avoid the obstacles until a mobile robot arrives the final position using the proposed environmental model.

  • We explain that a holographic filter of the generalized Hough transform can be easily obtained by use of rotational multiplexing in hologram recording. To show the feasibility of our approach experimentally, we recorded the Hough transform filter of both line and circle parameterization by combined use of rotational and angle multiplexing. Experimental results on the Hough transform for a few input patterns are presented.

  • In this paper, we report a method for the primitive segments extraction from printed Korean characters without thinning as a preliminary stage to design an efficient recognition system. The primitive segments are defined by fundamental subpatterns which are vertical(I), right sloping(/), left. sloping(\). horizontal(-), and circular segment(o). The circular segment among the five kinds of segment is different from the others in geometrical properties. Therefore, at first, the circular segment is extracted by using the closed circle of the inner boundary and the geometrical characteristics of its outer. Next, linear segments are separated from the character pattern by means of a directional coding method. Finally, primitive segments are extracted from each set of linear segments by using a projection profile which involves the fact whether the segment has branches or not. The experimental results show that this method reduces computation time and storage space in comparision with the existing methods.

  • Most algorithms utilized the horizontal epipolar lines for solving the correspondence problem in 3-D computer vision. However, the requirement is very difficult to be satisfied in real situations. In this paper, we propose a binocular-stereo matching algorithm, based on line matching method, which does not require the horizontal epipolar lines of the extreme pixels of a given line segment and two circles whose radius is equal to the maximum disparity. And we use the features including the direction of line segments, edge strength and cross-correlation for line matching. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can be a useful tool for solving the correspondence problem in 3-D computer vision.

  • We propose a method to extract features optically from the input pattern by use of an array of Hough transfOllli filters. Here the subparts of the input pattern are Hough-transformed by. their cOlTesponding elements of the filter array independently and simultaneously. Compared with the conventional method, in which the whole input pattern is Hough-transformed by a single optical filter, the proposed method not only provides the improved optical transform results when the input pattern becomes complex but also extracts the approximate position information of the line segment features. To show the feasibility of this approach, we fabricated a $5\times5$ filter array and performed preliminary experiments.iments.

  • Busanjin Fortress was originally made of stone fortress for the Joseon Navy, which was located in Dongnae area in the late Joseon Dynasty. However, the Japanesque Castle of Busanjin in 1592 was built by the Japanese military during the Japanese Invasion of Korea. Since the Japanese military retreated, the Joseon Navy had renovated the fortress and had used it as a base for stationing, and it had been maintained in Busanjin Fortress until the Joseon Navy was disbanded in 1895. After the abolition of the Naval Force System, the space in Busanjin Fortress was dismantled, and the government facilities and their sites were not properly managed and repaired, eventually was sold to Japanese. As Busanjin Fortress failed to function properly, the coastal space in Busanjin became a burial ground after being reclaimed by Japanese with real estate investment in mind. Today, the traces of Busanjin Fortress have been removed by the reclamation work, and only the remains of some stone pillars remain under the name of Jaseongdae(子城臺). Thus, the old custom as the Naval base disappeared, leaving only the image of Japanesque Castle.
