This study aims to examine the transformation of the heroic narrative in the successful Korean Wave drama. In this study, TV drama "Descendants of the Sun" which gained tremendous popularity at home and abroad was considered to be an example of the heroic narrative model proposed by Vogler. Further, two analysis points were identified as the critical factor of success: modern transformation and global transformation. Modern transformation is about distinct characteristics of Korea, found in three primary factors of the work: the setting up of a character, the development of events and the background set-up. Global transformation features universal value to attract foreign viewers by lowering cultural discount. In "Descendants of the Sun", humanism is considered to broaden the horizon of the work by affecting above three factors. In conclusion, It is the proper combination of these dual transformations that globalize Korean drama. In this regard, this study will be a meaningful attempt to shed light on the storytelling strategy of Korean dramas in terms of the heroic narrative.

The transformation of plots using the archetypical narratives is not just a repetition of the past story, but finding a new suitable meaning for present time and society. Due to this, the story can be variated depending on what the transformation has the main point for. Disney's animation overcomes the narrative feature of the past classic fairy tale that worked only for particular age and people, and recognized as a contemporary story that can give impression to more various people. This study use Vladimir Propp's Morphology of the Folktale, Carl Gustav Jung's complexes and shadow theory to examine how this animation is modernly recreated by transforming the archetypical narrative. As a result, we can find characteristics of structure and function for contemporary story, and those also work with characters in the recreated animation. Through this study we discovered that Disney's animation is a transfiguration of archetypical narrative through the exhaustive analysis, and this could be the helpful research for the future creation of animation which uses the archetypical narratives.

This study examined adaptational aspects by analyzing culture contents, which use Jeju myth "Chasabonpuri" as a writing material. "Chasabonpuri" has a heroic narration of Ganglim, who becomes the grim reaper by solving the serious problem through a journey to the world beyond. Also, it has a value as an archetypal narration because of its reflection on Korean world view of afterlife. Culture contents, which use "Chasabonpuri" as a writing material, have features of 'accurate reproduction of heroic narration' (Ganglim who becomes the grim reaper), 'tragic conversion of narration through humanization' (The way home), 'extension of narration through merging with traditional and modern elements'(Together with God), 'Unique view of the world that reflects the contemporary trend' (Ghost Messenger).

The hero is in the TV drama's long. TV drama Heroes historical blip on the public's desire to delegate to the body and its functions as an intensive, which have a specific period drama that soars like a hero's welcome and it is the communication between the viewer a sense of contemporary popular devices that can be separated. This study today, the various cultural areas which are becoming popular in Japan's historical hero 'Yoshitune' a heroic drama, the hero's narrative research stories In the analysis occupies an important place in the Joseph Campbell's 17 steps of heroic narrative, based on analysis achetype and adaptation. Campbell, 11 of the 17 stage dramas to apply different levels, and the omission of two steps, and shows a variation of the four stages, in order to relaunch the popular culture as the content selection and a constant strain was able to find out that you need.

This study focuses on Ko woo-young (1939-2005), a Korean representative cartoonist. I analyzed his work Nolbudyeon (1988), which is a retelling of Heungbu and Nolbu, a traditional Korean story. I consider Ko woo-young a creative observer who has popularized his perspective in modern society. His work is a good example of how a traditional folktale can be made relevant in modern society. I used three methods of adaptation to differentiate Nolbudyeon from Heungbu story: construction of events, characterizing, and space-time background. First, to aid character development, Nolbudyeon includes a prologue that focuses on conflicts between brothers with different personalities. At the same time, the ambiguous ending could be a response to Heungbu story, which has a didactic theme. Second, I found that the new characters, Nolsun and Yeonsaengwon, enhanced the differences between Heungbu and Nolbu by playing the role of mediators. Also, in Nolbudyeon, both Heungbu and Nolbu had positive as well as negative elements, in contrast with the original story's traditional point of view on good and evil. Finally, by exploring the space-time of Nolbudyeon, we can see that its world is combined with the contemporary world. In other words, Nolbu and Heungbu, though outwardly traditional, have a modern outlook. Therefore, readers can recognize that Nolbudyeon is a metaphor for modern life rather than just an old story.

Fairy tales are rooted in folk tales and contain human unconsciousness and universal emotions. It also plays a role as original content in various narrative transformation works. Andersen's brings numerous signification through symbolic signs of red shoes, dance, and ankle amputation. Victor W.Turner's theory of social drama broadens the perspective of narrative analysis. In addition, this theory makes us realize the conditions of the social community required by society at the time. As a circular content, Andersen's shows the double entry narrative of growth as a woman and incorporation into the social community. In this process, the social conditions accepted and rejected are symbolically revealed. In Koo Byung-mo's novel , achromatic color and red color are contrasted. The red world is full of vitality and represents the meaning of human existence. Yoon Mi-kyung's fairy tale is divided into different characters from the girl's growth narrative and the outsider's entry into the women's society. This work accuses preconceived notions and prejudices against multicultural families and strangers.

In this paper, the horror game is defined as a game that is aimed at causing fear reactions to user. And this paper analyzed narrative elements for studying what causes fear reactions beyond the existing experimental study. This analysis is significant at the point of determining narrative principles in the horror game. So this paper has extracted horror elements from gothic horror novels that established as the 'horror' genre and has considered how these horror elements would be transformed actually in the horror game. So it analyzes how the space and narrative elements as the distinctive characteristics of game are transformed centrally in the case of the 'Silent hill' series(published by Konami Corporation). Furthermore this study will be expected to be a help for clarifying not only the horror game as a peculiar genre but also the relationship between the space and narrative elements in the game.

This thesis explores how JobGeuk ShimChungWangWhoJeon and the Devoted daughter ShimChungJeon scenario have transformed ShimChungJeon, a notable work of Pansori literature, dramatically for modern times. By analyzing the adapter's consciousness and changing direction in these two works, it was found that ShimChungJeon was tailored to audiences in the 1900s. JobGeuk and the scenario are attempts to transform ShimChungJeon to meet cultural needs in the 21st century and to make the works appealing to the public. The aspects of the transformation of JobGeuk ShimChungWangWhoJeon are 1) reinforcement of logical causality, 2) weakening the humor and simultaneously emphasizing the work's surreal nature, and 3) dramatic expression by song. The aspects of the change in direction of the Devoted daughter ShimChungJeon scenario are 1)the insertion of a new narrative, 2)trying to evoke both humor and tragic sadness, 3)seeking newness with the reassignment of time and events. JobGeuk ShimChungWangWhoJeon is the first example of the transformation of ShimChungJeon's dramatic style and Devoted daughter ShimChungJeon is the first transformation of its scenario. These two works show how ShimChungJeon can be adapted to modern times and new cultures, and how ShimChungJeon can be made relevant and be enjoyed by the public regardless of the era.

Literary works are used as materials for various cultural contents including plays, movies, cartoons, and games. According to the results of the previous study, it is possible to create a game story that is plausible and universal even if the game storytelling is carried out using the elements extracted from the source data. It is expected that the analysis of the transformed contents of literary works will be analyzed. In this paper, we analyze the scenario of "Mabinogi" using literary works in domestic online games using Greimas' s actant model. The analyzed results are compared with Hamlet, which is the source of the source, and analyzed the structure, age, background, heroine, goal, theme. This study confirms the change of the narrative when the literature is contents, and the analysis is meaningful in analyzing the transformational patterns of game scenarios based on literary works. I hope that it will contribute to the study of various methods of storytelling by various materials of literature works.

It is important to create animation storytelling because it is the most critical factor to make animation successful at the box-office. As such, lots of researchers have paid attention to Disney's animations because the Walt Disney company has produced the largest number of interesting animations. One of Disney's strategies to make story interesting is the application of original works that were already open to public. On this point, this article explores how Disney deals with characters in its animation that is based on an original work. Drawing a comparison between characters of and those of "Hua Mulan", which is its original work, this article focuses on how characters are created and used for the purpose of managing animation storytelling. Significant differences between two works exist. That is to say, actively makes the use of characters. First, it creates several new characters that are not seen in "Hua Mulan." Those characters can be divided into three groups by their roles; realistic characters, unrealistic characters, and realistic characters of unrealistic personalities. Second, Mulan in has both masculine initiative and feminine adaptability, and each one is used as necessary through the whole narrative. Last, it sets up a relationship between characters either in a blood-based family category or in a social category. Through these results, it is possible to confirm that this modification of characters is solely to manage the narrative with more flexibility.
