Bactericidal Efficacy of Fumagari OPP®, Fumigant Against Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium (훈증소독제, Fumagari OPP®의 Escherichia coli와 Salmonella typhimurium에 대한 살균효과)

  • This test was performed to evaluate the bactericidal efficacy of Fumagari OPP$^{(R)}$, fumigation disinfectant, containing 20% ortho-phenylphenol against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium). In preliminary tests, both E. coli and S. typhimurium working culture suspension number (N value) was $4.0{\times}10^8$ CFU/mL. And all of the colony numbers on the carriers exposed the fumigant (n1, n2, n3) were higher than 0.5N1 (the number of bacterial test suspentions by pour plate method), 0.5N2 (the number of bacterial test suspentions by filter membrane method) and 0.5N1, respectively. In addition, the mean number of bacteria recovered on the control-carriers (T value) was $3.4{\times}10^6$ CFU/mL. In the bactericidal effect of the fumigant, the reduction number of S. typhimurium and E. coli (d value) was 5.26 and 5.64 logCFU/mL, respectively. According to the French standard for the fumigant, the d value for the effective bactericidal fumigant should be over than 5 logCFU/mL. With the results of this study, Fumagari OPP$^{(R)}$ has an effective bactericidal activity, then the fumigant can be applied to disinfect food materials and kitchen appliances contaminated with pathogenic bacteria.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the bactericidal efficacy of Fumagari OPP$^{(R)}$, fumigation disinfectant, containing 20% ortho-phenylphenol against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). In this research, efficacy test of fumigant against S. aureus was carried out according to French standard NF T 72-281. S. aureus working culture suspension number (N value), all of the colony numbers on the carriers exposed with the fumigant (n1, n2, and n3), the number of bacterial test suspentions by pour plate method (N1), the number of bacterial test suspentions by filter membrane method (N2) and the mean number of bacteria recovered on the control-carriers (T value) were obtained from the preliminary test. In addition, the reduction number of S. aureus exposed with the fumigant (d value) was calculated using T value, the mean number of bacteria in recovery solution (n'1) and the mean number of bacteria on carriers plated in agar (n'2). N value was $4.0{\times}10^8$ CFU/mL, and n1, n2, and n3 were higher than 0.5N1, 0.5N2 and 0.5N1, respectively. Additionally, T value was $3.4{\times}10^6$ CFU/mL. In the bactericidal effect of the fumigant, the d value was 6.43 logCFU/mL. According to the French standard for the fumigant, the d value for the effective bactericidal fumigant should be over than 5 logCFU/mL. The results indicated that Fumagari OPP$^{(R)}$ had an effective bactericidal activity against S. aureus, then the fumigant can be applied to disinfect food materials and kitchen appliances contaminated with pathogenic bacteria.

  • In this study, the disinfectant efficacy of Aqua farmsafe$^{(R)}$, composed of didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) and yucca extract was evaluated against Salmonella typhimurium and fish pathogens. Determination of the anti-microbial or anti-viral efficacy of the disinfectant was based on Animal, Plant and Fisheries Quarantine and Inspection Agency Regulation No. 2011-26, Korea. Anti-bacterial efficacy test by broth dilution method was used to determine the lowest effective dilution of the disinfectant following exposure to test bacteria for 30 min at $4^{\circ}C$. Aqua farmsafe and test bacteria or virus were diluted with distilled water (DW), standard hard water (SW) or organic matter dilution (OM) according to treatment condition. Under the our results, disinfectant efficacy of Aqua farmsafe$^{(R)}$ possesses 30~40 fold against fish pathogens including bacteria and virus compared to that on animal pathogenic bacteria, S. typhimurim. As the efficacy of Aqua farmsafe$^{(R)}$ against fish pathogen was investigated in vitro, a controlled field trial is required to determine whether the use of Aqua farmsafe$^{(R)}$ will be able to reduce fish diseases.

Investigation of Fungicides Inhibitory Effect of on Summer Patch Disease, Caused by Magnaporthiopsis poae, in Kentucky bluegrass (여름잎마름병(Summer patch) 병원균에 대한 살균제의 억제효과 조사)

  • Summer patch is the most serious disease at turfgrass field or golf course established with Kentucky bluegrass during high temperature season in Korea. Nevertheless, chemicals for the summer patch control are not yet registered in Korea. We isolated the pathogens from the turfgrass showing typical summer patch symptoms and identified as Magnaporthiopsis poae by using the internal transcribed spacer ITS1 and ITS4 sequences of rDNA. The inhibition rates of the pathogen were investigated for 10 fungicides. As results, the pathogen growth was suppressed when chemicals concentration increased and negatively correlated with incubation period with the chemicals. In triazole group, all chemicals (metconazole, myclobutanil, propiconazole and tebuconazole) treated showed the inhibition rates by 100%. Thiophanate-methyl showed the next highest inhibition effect against a summer patch pathogen. In strobilurin group, pyraclostrobin was the highest suppression effect compared with azoxystrobin and trifloxystrobin. Inhibition effect of fludioxonil and fluxapyroxad on pathogen was similar to the trifloxystrobin. Based on the results, triazole and carboxamide groups are strongly recommended due to the highest inhibition effect on the summer patch pathogen, Magnaporthiopsis poae.

  • Smoke rods were prepared for 2 insecticides and 5 fungicides using powdered rice chaff as a combustible carrier, and their burning characteristics were investigated. The distribution of active ingredient was investigated after the application of the granular smoke generator containing fenarimol in the connected vinyl plastic house growing cucumber. The protective effects of fungicide smoke generators were evaluated against cucumber gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) and tomato late blight (Phytophthora infestans), and compared with commercial wettable powders. Smoke rods containing powdered rice chaff showed high smoking rates of AI that were higher than commercial smoke pellets. The deposition of fenarimol on the ground of vinyl plastic house was $26.2{\pm}7.7\;ng/cm^2$ when averaged from 9 sites, and application uniformity was found. Also, the protective effects of 5 fungicidal smoke rods against plant diseases were so similar to the commercial wettable powders with no phytotoxicity that smoke rod formulations containing rice chaff as a combustible carrier could be used as an effective formulation for pesticides.

  • The result were obtained as follow : 1. Formocresol produced the widest zone of inhibition and camphorated parachlorophenol was the next and engenol was the narrowest. 2. Formocresol revealed the most efficted forming ability of the volatile gas and camphorated parachlorophenol was the next and eugenol was the least. 3. In comparing with the weight per ml. of the tested medicaments, eugenol was 1039.99mg/ml. 4. The amount of saturation in filter paper disc camphorated parachlorophenol showed the most and eugenol showed the least.

  • Pefloxacine(PFX)은 기존 quinolone계 항균제의 단점을 보완한 fluoroquinolone계열의 합성 항균제로서 그람양성균과 그람음성균에 대해서도 살균효과가 뛰어날 뿐 아니라 내성균 출현 가능성이 비교적 낮은 장점이 있는 항균제로 보고되고 있다. 이러한 약리학적 특성 때문에 우리 나라에서도 양식어류 세균성 질병 치료제로 최근 사용량이 증가하고 있으나 현재까지도 어류를 대상으로 한 체내잔류 PFX의 정량분석방범과 PFX의 흡수, 분포, 해설 등 실제 약제 사용방법 설정에 필수적인 임상동태에 관해서는 연구가 되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 양식어류에 대한 PFX의 효과적인 사용방법을 확립하기 위하여 고속액체크로마토그라피(HPLC)를 사용하여 실험조건의 특이성 등을 검토하여 어체내 잔류 PFX의 최적 분석조건을 설정하였다. 그리고 주요 양식어류를 대상으로 PFX를 경구 투여한 후 시간경과에 따라 혈액을 채취하여 혈종에서의 약물동태학적 Parameter를 조사하였다.   • 1. The purpose of this study is to determine the antibacterial effect of the remedies commonly used in operative dentistry. 2. Experiment were performed against staphylococcus albus which were isolated from different root canals. 3. Isolated bacteria were inoculated on nutrient agar and disk which has been saturated antiseptics were placed on it, then this plate was incubated for 48 hours at 37℃. 4. Inhibition zone were measured around antiseptic disks. 5. The results of 45 cases of experiments showed as follows. Average diameter of inhibition zone around phenol disk was 2.99 mm, camphorated phenol, 0.74 mm, formocresol, 13.46mm, formocresol (Korea), 12.7 mm, eugenol, 4.74mm, thymol, 16.46 mm.

  • 선박이 배출하는 안정수(ballast water)는 외부로부터 유해 생물들이 유입되어 전파해 오는 주요경로로써 해양환경의 매우 중요하고 위험한 일종의 하나이지만, 이에 대한 효과적인 처리방법은 아직까지도 개발되지 못하였다. 그러나 최근 강 전리방전을 이용하여 고 밀집 산소와 물분자를 고농도 수산자유기(OH: hydroxyl radical)로 전리, 활성입자를 발생시켜 신속히 확산시키면 넓은 범위에서 비교적 낮은 농도로 유해성 침입 생물을 잔류물 없이 저렴한 비용으로 살균제나 촉매제의 사용 없이 소멸시켜 처리하는 효과적인 새로운 녹색방법을 제안하였다. 또한, 수산기는 강 산화제로써(산화환원 전위는 2.80 eV), 적조생물을 신속, 효과적으로 사멸시켜 잔유물과 오염물 발생 없이 이상적으로 해양적조현상을 처리할 수 있는 활성물질이다. 고출력 강 전리장치를 활용하면 수산기 활성제의 발생 농도를 Sr104 이상으로 얻을 수 있으므로, 해양적조처리에 요구되는 문턱 값 농도(~l$\times$$10^{-6}$)를 충족시킬 수 있으며, 이 경우 적조생물 소멸처리시간은 불과 10 sec 내외이므로 선박 안정수 처리문제와 함께 적조발생의 난문제를 해양동력학적으로 동시에 해결할 수 있는 효과적인 기술이다. 실험결과로부터 시간당 1 k톤의 활성물질을 발생하는 수산기활성제 제조장치의 경우, 약 4$\times$$10^2$ $\textrm{km}^2$/h의 적조해면을 처리할 수 있으며, 그 비용은 약 US$l,000 정도에 상당하므로, 적조에 따른 경제손실과는 비교될 수 없는 저렴하고 효과적인 방법이다. 활성물질의 생성시간과 가공시간은 불과 수십 $\mu\textrm{s}$ 및 수 sec 에 불과하므로, 1 kton/h 용량의 수산기활성제 제조장치의 환산소비동력은 약 200 kW이고, 장치의 체적은 10~30 ㎥의 공간으로 충분하므로, 소형선박으로 상당면적의 적조피해를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있다.

According to the French standard for the fumigant, the d value for the effective bactericidal fumigant should be over than 5 logCFU/mL. With the results from this study, the fumigation disinfectant containing 20% ortho-phenylphenol has an effective bactericidal activity, then the fumigant can be applied to disinfect food materials and kitchen appliances contaminated with the pathogenic bacteria.
