As the social role of public art cartoon.animation : Mainly in Urban space (공공미술로서 만화.애니메이션의 사회적 역할 : 도시공간을 중심으로)

  • While Korea has actively discussed the fields of comics and animation, with an aim toward public art and publicity for cultural welfare, research on public cultural content for the underprivileged and their regions is in fact lacking. The Korean government has also tried to improve Korea's cultural welfare, but its benefits have failed to be evenly given to the underprivileged. Therefore, we need to take greater interest in the underprivileged and their regions. Korea should work to correct the unbalance among regions in the field of cultural welfare (cultural differences between the capital area and other regions, and between new towns and old), as well as improve the living environments of isolated areas. For this reason, such a public art project should be conducted from two directions. First, the underprivileged living in poor conditions should be allowed to live in clean and cultural environments. And second, public art, comics, and storytelling through animation should be formed with an eye on urban culture. This project aims to focus on improving "the quality of citizens' lives" through creating the unique characteristics and landscape of the city. It will be presented through the use of public art, which presents the elements of the city with charm and vitality. The two directions stated above are our urgent tasks. Public art, comics, and animation storytelling regarding the history, culture, and natural resources of the region will develop with the affection and pride of the citizens, and public art will help create an environment that allows people to discuss their issues. In addition, it will be cultural environments that will allow all citizens to enjoy beautiful streets and events. This project will be an opportunity to realize cultural democracy by pursuing social values such as publicity, communication, equality, and participation.

  • 최근의 비즈니스 환경에서 가장 두드러지게 나타나고 있는 특징 중의 하나는 인터넷의 보급과 발전으로 네트워크 환경이 구축되고 사이버 사회가 급속하게 발전하고 있다는 점이다. 이러한 환경에서 인터넷상에 가상의 공간과 사회가 만들어져 온라인 커뮤니티(online community)라는 개념이 생기기 시작하였다. 온라인 커뮤니티란 회원(멤버)들에 의해 이루어지는 커뮤니케티션과 이들에 의해 만들어지는 자생적인 컨텐츠(member-generated contents)의 통합이 컴퓨터를 매개로 하여 구축된 공간(Armstrong과 Hagel, 1996),또는 온라인상에서의 상호작용에 관계하고 있는 사람이나 집단(Williams와 Cotherel, 2000)을 의미한다. Evolutionary Approaches to Low Fertility in Modern Societies (현대 사회의 저출산에 대한 진화적 분석)

  • The sharp decline of fertility in industrialized countries since the 19th century constitutes a major problem for evolutionary approaches to human behavior. Why would people voluntarily reduce their total number of offspring, despite the fact that resources are so abundant in modern times? Here I review three evolutionary hypotheses for low fertility in modern societies, and discuss how the evolutionary perspective could shed new light on solving the problem of low fertility in Korea. Low fertility may be 1) a maladaptive outcome from the mismatch between our ancestral environments and evolutionarily novel environments, 2) a consequence of gene-culture coevolution where traits that reduce genetic fitness can still spread through a population as a result of imitation, especially if the traits are expressed by high-status people, or 3) an adaptation that maximize parents' long-term genetic fitness in knowledge-based industrialized societies where high parental investment is required for rearing competitive offspring. Based on these considerations, I suggest how the evolutionary explanations of low fertility can be applied to increasing the birth rate in Korea.

The Effects of Internal, External Environment and Entrepreneurship on the Performance of Social Enterprise: Focused on the Network Activity (내부 및 외부 환경요인과 기업가정신이 사회적 기업의 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인: 네트워크 활동을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing performance of internal, external environment and entrepreneurship in the social enterprise with network activity. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to performance of social enterprise, internal, external environment, entrepreneurship and network activity. The proposed model is analyzed to target social entrepreneurs. The results of hypothesis testing are as follows. First, organizational culture positively influence entrepreneurship. Second, environmental uncertainty positively influence entrepreneurship. Third, entrepreneurship positively influence managerial and social performance. Finally, organizational culture to entrepreneurship for high group of network activity is significantly larger than those for low group of network activity. In addition, environmental uncertainty to entrepreneurship for low group of network activity is significantly larger than those for high group of network activity.

The collective appreciation of film and the creation of social value - Community cinema in Japan (영화의 공동감상과 사회적 가치 창출 - 일본의 커뮤니티 시네마를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzes the characteristics of the social value creation process through the collective appreciation of film. It focuses on the historical development of community cinema in Japan. In modern-day Japan, where digital video is easily accessible and the use of private, personalized media spaces widespread, a sub-culture of collective film appreciation is spreading, as more and more Japanese begin to attend movie screenings in non-commercial theaters. In addition, Japanese community cinema center has begun to integrate and support this viewing experience, which has come to be known as community cinema. A literature review revealed the following characteristics of community cinema. First, local theater screening groups or appreciation groups cooperate with residents to establish and operate movie theaters. Second, these spaces create theoretical and practical participatory learning opportunities that foster understanding of and participation in film culture, through large-scale associations with organizations or institutions that offer viewings. Third, based on collective appreciation, the film culture created through repeated joint viewings produces a social arena in which community can be realized. In these communities film can be put to socially productive uses, such as problem solving.

  • Rapid social changes due to digitization have created new psychological challenges of adapting and coping. Plays are in the center of these changes. Plays used to be collateral activities of labor in the traditional society and industrial society, but they have become key activities embracing economy, society, culture in a digital society that has been maximized productivity and efficiency. Still, the theoretical approach of plays is based on the industrial societies. Analyzing these points, the psychological impacts of players using multimedia, social networking, and digital games utilizing both of them was dealt in this article. I dealt with multimedia, social networking, and digital games as key characteristic of digital culture. The difference between traditional psychology and Digital Cultural Psychology was dealt in the perspective of self-concept, information processing, and sex role. Then the conclusion on the future directions of Digital Cultural Psychology and its limitations will be followed.

  • This study analyzed the work experience of social workers employed in social welfare facilities in Seoul. We investigated key variables, including working conditions, job characteristics, workplace violence, work-related stress, and burnout experiences. Additionally, we utilized word cloud analysis to identify the primary opinions and experiences of social workers. The results showed that social workers' salaries were generally low, and there was dissatisfaction with the promotion and compensation systems. We also found that social workers pointed out issues related to time shortages, poor physical environments, and inadequate equipment. The analysis by institution type revealed that social workers in public institutions reported high job intensity and low satisfaction with their working conditions. Based on these findings, we propose policy and practical suggestions to improve the work environment of social workers.

  • The purpose of this research lies in possible effects of a tourist development, that is, studying inhabitants' attitude who live in sight-seeing place toward economic, social, cultural and ecological influences. The research was performed by questionaires through a spot survey from 1997, 7. 1 to 7. 1. The analysis about the result is as follows: First, the Inhabitants gave the positive responses on the economic effect of sightseeing but didn't answer affirmatively to its social consequences-education, criminal rate of teenagers live the place, on the matters of cultural influence they showed both positive attitude and future orientated and they took great interest in that the tourist development could pollute their environment. Second, the Inhabitants put the income increase on the first place among every aspect and the need of holding exhibitions about history and culture of that region giving a positive image to visitor, making severer restrictions on people dump refuse at the region, tourist development and investment for the local area following position in order.
