  • In this research it was attempted to analyze the general engineering properties of low cement mortar according to the type of setting accelerator and substitution rate, when 1% substitution rate for setting accelerator was used a high rate of compressive strength manifestation was shown and that the WS-10 type setting accelerator was appropriate. For the rate of change of length, when 3% substitution rate for setting accelerator was used, it was shown that due to initial expansion the shrinkage compensation was not significant, and when taking into consideration strength and shrinkage, 1% of WS-10 was shown to be appropriate.

  • In this study, the fundamental properties of cement mortar in relation to the change of the replacement ratio of the RA(Reject-Ash) were analyzed by mixing RA to the mixed aggregate consisting of poorly graded fine rock aggregate and marine aggregate for quality improvement. It was found that replacing 5% of the mixed aggregate with RA could improve the quality of the aggregate to the degree of fine rock aggregates.

  • As coal fly ash emissions have increased due to additional constructions of domestic heat power plants, the amount of embedded reject ash (Rj henceforth) is increasing as well. Most Rj is embedded, so if it is used as an alternative admixture instead of cement, embedded quantities will decrease, leading to economic and environmentally positive effects. Therefore this study conducted an experiment to contemplate the usability of Rj ground in the Los Angeles abraser, and what effects ground Rj has on the engineering properties of poor-mix mortar. The result was that as the number of grinding turns increased, liquidity, air quantity and intensity were improved, proving Rj a possible alternative admixture to cement.

  • This paper studied the effect on the microstructure, electrical properties, and compressive strength of cement mortar containing carbon fiber (CF) and steel fiber (SF), which are conductive materials. The resistivity of conductive fiber-reinforced cement mortar (FRCM) was measured using the 4-probe method, and the compressive strength was measured based on the compression test. Their performance was compared and reviewed with plain mortar (PM). Furthermore, the surface shape and composition of the fracture surface of the conductive FRCM were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an energy disperse X-ray spectrometer (EDS). The results showed that the resistivity gradually increased as the curing time increased in all specimens, whereas the resistivity decreased significantly as the fiber volume fraction increased. Adding steel fibers up to 1.25% did not affect the resistivity of cement mortar considerably. On the contrast, the resistivity of carbon fiber was somewhat decreased even at low contents (ie, 0.1 to 0.3%), and thereafter, it was significantly decreased. The percolation threshold of the conductive CFRCM containing CF used in this experiment was 0.4%, and it is judged to be the optimum carbon fiber dosage to maximize the conductive effect while maintaining the compressive strength performance as much as possible. For the surface shape and composition analysis of conductive FRCM, the fracture surface was observed through SEM-EDS. These results are considered to be very useful in establishing the microstructure mechanism of reinforcing fibers in cement mortars.

  • This study has shown the tendency to enhance Sand Flux, a device of separating screening the foreign matter, for the recycling of construction waste possible to improve the quality of wet type production system meaningfully as part of research. As a result of experiment on the basic material properties, this study had a tendency to improve the quality and performance significantly in case of absolute surface dried density, 0.08mm sieve throughput, volume of clay lumps, and content of organic foreign matter. In addition, as a result of examining the quality characteristics of mortar, this study has shown the tendency that the flow and compressive strength more increased than the mortar using RS-II by utilizing RS-VI recycled sand produced finally through the device Sand Flux. As for the shrinkage properties, this study has shown the character the generation rate of crack of mortar using RS-IV recycled sand produced finally through the device Sand Flux.

  • In this study, the mechanical properties and self-healing performance of cement mortar containing clinker binder, calcium sulfoaluminate(CSA), and sodium sulfate(Na2SO4) were evaluated. The mechanical properties of cement mortar were investigated by measuring compressive strength and flexural strength, and the healing performance was evaluated through hydrostatic water permeability test and gas diffusion test. In addition, the healing products precipitated in the cracks were visually observed through an optical microscope and a scanning electron microscope(SEM). As a result, the incorporation of the clinker binder-based inorganic additives improved the initial and 28-day strength by about 20 %. Depending on the healing performance evaluation method, there was a difference in the healing rate, and the healing rate showed a tendency to be underestimated. Nevertheless, CaCO3 was precipitated as the main healing product inside the 0.3 mm crack when the inorganic additives were mixed with cement mortar, improving the self-healing performance.

  • In this study, effect of surface modification of waste glass for fine aggregates on the mechanical properties and alkali silica reaction of mortar was analyzed. As a result, it was confirmed that the incorporation of waste glass fine aggregate decreases the mechanical properties of the mortar and increase the alkali silica reaction expansion. On the other hand, the surface modification of the waste glass fine aggregate is effective in improving this problem. However, unlike green and brown waste glass, it is judged that an additional experiment to determine the cause is necessary for white waste glass where alkali silica reactive expansion occurs extremely.

  • The purpose of this study was to review ways to increase mechanical performance and apply to actual structures by reinforcing AL perforated sheets, which are industrial by-products generated after capacitor production, with mortar to reinforce the stress of structural members. The AL perforated sheet was reinforced so that it behaves integrally at the position receiving compression, tension, and bending stress. It was confirmed that the stress received by the AL perforated sheet increased according to the number of reinforcements, and as a result, the mechanical properties were improved.

  • In order to use limestone powder as a material for concrete, the mechanical and durability characteristics of cement matrices manufactured by varying the substitution rate were evaluated. In general, limestone powder did not contribute to the cement hydration reaction, so as a result of the compressive strength test of cement mortar using it, the compressive strength decreased as the substitution rate increased. However, as a result of evaluating the durability performance of cement mortar using limestone powder, such as chloride ion penetration resistance, carbonation resistance, and chemical attack resistance, small particles of limestone powder showed superior results compared to the unsubstituted control mortar due to the micro-filler effect of filling the fine pores inside the cement matrix. Therefore, limestone powder is expected to be used as an effective method for improving the durability of concrete. In this study, the durability was evaluated by changing the mixing amount of limestone powder to 0 %, 5 %, 10 %, and 15 %, but it is judged that it is necessary to study in more detail the effect on the durability by changing the end and mixing amount of limestone powder to various levels in the future.

  • According to the evaluation of basic properties and mechanical characteristics of polymer cement mortars that contain re-dispersible type polymer, in the case of fresh mortars, flow and air content were increased due to the dispersion action of entrained air and surfactant with an increase of polymer addition ratio. In the case of mortars after hardening, flexural strength, bonding strength, absorption rate and carbonation resistance were improved due to the increased union and waterproof characteristics of internal structures as a result of the formation of polymer film.
