  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of children's academic stress on school adaptation and to verify whether ego-resilience plays a mediating role in the relationship between academic stress and school adaptation. Based on the data from the 12th year of the Korean Children's Panel (2019), the general characteristics of the main subjects and the mean, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis of the main variables were confirmed through basic statistical analysis, and correlation analysis was conducted between variables. In addition, to examine whether ego-resilience mediated the effect of academic stress on school adaptation, a three-step regression analysis was conducted following the procedure of Baron and Kenny. The results of this study were as follows. First, it was found that children's academic stress, school adaptation, and ego resilience were all significantly correlated. The higher the academic stress, the lower the ego-resilience and school adaptability. Second, it was confirmed that ego-resilience has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between children's academic stress and school adjustment. Ego resilience in the academic stress situation means that it acts as an important mediating factor to flexibly adapt to school life by objectively grasping and coping with the stress situation. Therefore, we need to recognize the need for flexible and resilient individual characteristics so that children can reduce academic stress and adapt well to school life, and seek active interest and intervention plans.

To this end, the level of stress, satisfaction with life, satisfaction with college life, and immersion were measured in353 students attending S University. First of all, correlation analysis showed that stress had a negative correlation with immersion, satisfaction with life, and satisfaction with college life and immersion had a positive correlation with satisfaction with life and satisfaction with college life. Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to determine the moderating effects of immersion in the relationship among stress, satisfaction with life, and satisfaction with college life. The results showed that immersion had a moderating effect on the relationship between stress and satisfaction with life, while immersion did not have a mitigating effect on the relationship between stress and satisfaction with college life. Based on these findings, this paper suggests raising the ability of immersion as a measure of intervention in handling the stress of college students and discusses the significance and limitations of this study.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the fundamental nature and meanings of the experiences of university students with regard to their smartphone usage in order to prevent smartphone addiction and provide guidelines to develop effective interventions. Nine university students who were currently enrolled in an university located in a Korean province participated in this study. In-depth interviews were conducted from June of 2012 to July of 2012, and data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological qualitative method. As a results, five theme and 40 subthemes of experiences of problematic smartphone usage were identified. Those themes include 1) a desperate try to connect with others(exposing oneself without appropriate self-protection, seeking emotional comfort, hurt and mistrust); 2) excessive use of smartphone and loss of self-control(more smartphone usage over computer/over-immersion/excessive usage/habituation, loss of self-control); 3) psychological difficulties(excessive attachment and dependence, separation anxiety, clingingness, reduced patience) ; 4) threats to daily functioning (changes in priorities, regressed independent daily functioning, irregular daily patterns, health problems, interruptions from free messenger, academic difficulties); 5) potential for recovery(conflictual feelings and doubts over smartphone usage, importance of interpersonal(face-to-face) communications, willingness to cut down the use, hope for recovery). This study provided suggestions for the prevention effort against smartphone addiction.

In addition, 179 meaningful statements, 14 sub-themes, 11 themes, and 3 categories were elicited. The final 3 categories are the emotions of the confirmed cases, the experiences in residential treatment centers and the needs from the perspective of the confirmed cases. • The innovative development of the 4th industry and the COVID-19 pandemic caused a great change in the education, eventually requiring elementary, middle and high schools, including kindergartens, to implement artificial intelligence(AI) education. However, since early childhood AI education is conducted in the form of results-oriented and special activities, the need for research on what early childhood AI education is and how to apply it to the Nuri curriculum has been raised. Accordingly, this study defined early childhood AI education through literature research, identified the contents of AI education, and organized and operated it in the Nuri curriculum. As a results, AI education for children should be conducted for the purpose of cultivating digital capabilities based on computing thinking skills, and computers, the Internet, and programs were extracted as sub-elements of child AI education contents. Two approaches were proposed to incorporate this into the Nuri curriculum. The first is to set each of the three AI education contents as a life theme, select sub-factors accordingly, and plan and implement activities suitable for each sub-factors. The second is to develop and operate AI education contents at the level of sub-educational activities in accordance with the life theme of the existing Nuri curriculum. It is hoped that this study will consider the characteristics of early childhood education and be organized in the Nuri curriculum to realize the true meaning of early childhood AI education, and more research on AI play education programs according to the five areas of the Nuri curriculum.

  • This quasi-experimental study examined the experience of simulation clothes and its effects among undergraduate nursing students. Method: The experimental group consisted of 44 sophomore students in a diploma nursing program, while 41 students comprised the comparison group. Only the experimental group experienced the functional decline of aging after taking on simulation clothes. Homogeneity between the groups was analyzed using t-test, and Fisher's exact test. Paired t-test and t-test were adopted for testing changes of attitudes and awareness of supporting elders. In addition, contents of students' reports of the aging simulation experience were analyzed. Results: No significant quantitative effect was observed in attitudes toward elders and awareness of supporting elders. However, the simulation experience seemed to have enhanced students' understanding of elders and of basic elder care as well. Furthermore, the students could think of preparing for their later lives. Conclusion: The experience of simulation clothes is a meaningful learning opportunity in gerontological nursing curriculum. Students' experiences need to be shared and reinforced in a discussion session. Safety should be secured in the process of the experience. The simulation experience can be further developed to raise its quality.
