The Effect of Communication Media Richness on Continuous Intention to Use: The Moderating Effect of User Experience (커뮤니케이션 매체의 풍부성이 지속적인 사용 의도에 미치는 영향 - 이용경험의 조절효과)

  • Although multimedia messaging services (MMS) are becoming increasingly popular, and companies are maximizing the use of their content, few systematic studies on MMSs exist. This study examined technology acceptance factors for MMS in 398 young people aged 10 to 39 to identify MMS users' continuous intention to use (CITU) via a questionnaire and SPSS21 and PLS-Graph 3.0. The results showed that perceived media richness (PMR) had a positive effect on perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and most importantly, CITU. Furthermore, PMR had a positive effect on perceived ease of use as a moderating effect on experience. To increase use efficiency in MMSs based on these results, media richness, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and user experience may serve as important variables affecting users' CITU and provide a basic reference and development direction for MMS users. Future studies should include more variables and examine additional factors when analyzing the structural model.

The Characteristics of Sports Marketing Activities Conducted by Full-Service Advertising Agencies in Korea (한국 종합광고회사의 스포츠마케팅 특징)

  • This study aims to understand the characteristics of sports marketing businesses of the 10 largest advertising agencies which lead the advertising market in Korea. To do that, the present author has investigated into the traits of the advertising market in Korea and how the characteristics are connected to sports businesses of the advertising agencies, with a focus on the current condition of sport marketing businesses of the agencies. The sports marketing business of the 10 largest advertising agencies in Korea was described by the fact that they did not create profits through sports business but just conducted their sports marketing activities mainly related to the sponsorship and event planning for communicating their parent companies. Such the characteristics of the advertising agencies is attributed to their nature that they are in-house agencies of large companies. The agencies engage in a variety of sports promotion sectors aligned with the intended business directions of their sponsors, however they are encountering considerable challenges in the aspect of sports business focused on property.

Perceived Social Presence in the Text-Based Media: Mobile Communication Case (문자기반 매체에서 느끼는 사회적 현존감: 모바일 커뮤니케이션의 사례)

  • Since the advent of smart phone, a variety of text-based media are developed and used as popular communication tools even in mobile phone environment. This study explores differences in terms of users' perceived social presence level across different text-based media, specifically KakaoTalk, Facebook, SMS. A survey was conducted using items adopted from previous studies on social presence. 203 data points were collected and used for analysis. Across the whole sample, KakaoTalk is perceived as the highest in terms of perceived social presence level, followed by Facebook and SMS. Also, the users with higher level of sociality tends to reveal higher level of perceived social presence across all the media while younger and/or student users tend to maintain higher level of social presence perception across all the media. Further studies seem necessary investigating features of specific medium that may increase or decrease the perceived level of social presence.

  • This study was conducted to identify the use motivations of AI speaker and examine the characteristics of AI speaker users. Based on the uses and gratifications theory, The study results show that the user motivations of AI speaker are four dimensional, namely escaping from daily problems and maintaining social relationships, information acquisition and learning, entertainment and relaxation and pursuit of practicability. The main AI speaker users are in their 30s, and they are innovative to actively use AI speakers for entertainment purposes such as listening to music. The four sub-dimensions differed as we compared them with user characteristics. Specifically, the motivation for escaping from daily problems and maintaining social relationships varied with gender and age. Moreover, age and informativeness were identified to have an influence on the motivations of information acquisition and learning and entertainment and relaxation. In sum, this research provides practical implications into how to strategically create contents and services for AI speakers.

Mask Cognition Types of Korean in the COVID19 Era using the Q Methodology

  • This study attempted to investigate what kind of perception people in their 20s have about masks and to find out the characteristics of each type by categorizing the perception. The Q methodology was used for the study. The cognition types of masks were categorized into three. Type 1 was a 'always wear impact-important type' that always wears masks and thinks masks affect non-verbal communication and the wearer's image. Type 2 was a 'function-important negative recognition type' that wears masks to prevent germs and thinks that masks have a great negative impact. Type 3 was a 'concealment wear positive image type' that wears a mask to cover the face and thinks that a person looks young when wearing a mask. It is thought that the development of masks of various designs and functions reflecting the needs of consumers should be carried out. Also, it is thought that various products should be developed and sold so that consumers can choose according to important considerations such as design, fit, and function.

  • This study designed and produced stimuli in the form of canned images of fun humor, character, quirky, and sexy humor, and measured the signal values (SI) of the hippocampus associated with memory through fMRI analysis. The results of 20 participants showed that there were differences in SI values according to gender and age, and the fun humor image stimuli had the highest SI values. Men showed higher SI values for fun humor image stimuli, while women showed higher SI values for character humor image stimuli. In addition, those in their 20s showed higher SI values for fun humor image stimuli, while those in their 30s showed higher SI values for quirky humor image stimuli. Considering these findings, it is expected that more effective results can be obtained by utilizing fun humor images and characters in package design.

  • This study investigates the changes in teachers' roles as the impact of AI on school education expands. Traditionally, teachers have been responsible for core aspects of classroom instruction, curriculum development, assessment, and feedback. AI can automate these processes, particularly enhancing efficiency through personalized learning. AI also supports complex classroom management tasks such as student tracking, behavior detection, and group activity analysis using integrated camera and microphone systems. However, AI struggles to automate aspects of counseling and interpersonal communication, which are crucial in student life guidance. While direct conversational replacement by AI is challenging, AI can assist teachers by providing data-driven insights and pre-conversation resources. Key competencies required for teachers in the AI era include expertise in advanced instructional methods, dataset analysis, personalized learning facilitation, student and parent counseling, and AI digital literacy. Teachers should collaborate with AI to emphasize creativity, adjust personalized learning paths based on AI-generated datasets, and focus on areas less amenable to AI automation, such as individualized learning and counseling. Essential skills include AI digital literacy and proficiency in understanding and managing student data.

  • This study empirically investigates the effect of self presentation on SNS to interpersonal relation and quality of life. Especially, we performed exploratory analysis that how SNS affect to quality of life and wether the change of interpersonal relation is mediating effect to quality of life and intention to use. And we also suggest that the capability of communication would be a moderator. In the results, firstly, the using SNS has significantly positive effect on the change of interpersonal relation. And it as mediation variable can positive impact on the relationship between the using SNS, quality of life, and Intention to use. In the moderating analysis, SNS users who responded higher communication capability have significantly more higher effect on the change of interpersonal relation and quality of life. Secondly, the change of interpersonal relation after use of SNS as a mediation variable serves to enhance the relationship between the use of SNS and the quality of life in the positive direction.

  • Expo is now firmly established as one of the top three world event, with Olympic and World Cup, which can be achieved a centralized investment of various contents in economy, technology, and culture and so on. Local government, in South Korea, actively has worked to hold Expo to revitalize the local economy and to increase the local identity since Daejeon World Expo in 1993. However, it is a fact that is hard to find Expo making good professional identity design system of Expo for lack of adequate understanding of the local community and government about design system. Accordingly, this study will suggest the promotion Expo along with the importance of character development, and the present status and analysis of Expo character which is essential to identity establishment of Expo and the core of the communication.
