The Relationship between Feelings of Accomplishment and Life Satisfaction of the Elderly: Mediating Effect of Satisfaction with Personal Relationship (노인의 성취감과 삶의 만족의 관계: 대인관계 만족의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effects of satisfaction with personal relationship in the relationship between feelings of accomplishment and life satisfaction of the elderly. For this, 9,526 older persons aged over 65 years among respondents of 2023 Social Survey data were analyzed. Study results showed that first, feelings of accomplishment of the elderly had positive effects on life satisfaction. That is, higher level of feelings of accomplishment increased the level of life satisfaction. Second, satisfaction with personal relationship of the elderly had positive effects on life satisfaction. That is, higher level of satisfaction with personal relationship increased the level of life satisfaction. Third, satisfaction with personal relationship had significant mediating effect in the relationship between feelings of accomplishment and life satisfaction of the elderly. That is, higher level of feelings of accomplishment increased the level of satisfaction with personal relationship, leading to increased level of life satisfaction. Results of this study show that there is a need to develop interventions to increase satisfaction with personal relationship and life satisfaction by expanding opportunities for having feelings of accomplishment of the elderly.

The Relationship between Male Adolescents' ADHD Traits and Life Satisfaction: Focused on Mediating Effect of Interpersonal Initiation and Internet Game Addiction (남자 청소년의 ADHD성향과 삶의 만족 간의 관계: 대인관계 형성과 인터넷 게임중독의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to analyze the relationship between ADHD trait and life satisfaction among male adolescents, and to examine the mediating effect of interpersonal initiation and internet game addiction on that relationship. The participants were 285 male students from middle and high schools. For this study, World Health Organization ADHD Self-Report Scale, Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire, Internet Gaming Use-Elicited Symptom Screen, and Satisfaction with Life Scale were used. PROCESS Macro 3.5 Model 4 was used to analyze a double mediating effect. Results revealed that male adolescents' ADHD trait was negatively correlated with interpersonal initiation and life satisfaction, while it was positively correlated with their internet game addiction. And, male adolescents' interpersonal initiation was positively correlated with life satisfaction, whereas internet game addiction was negatively correlated with life satisfaction. In addition, male adolescents' interpersonal initiation and game addiction were mediating ADHD trait and life satisfaction. These findings suggest that the interpersonal initiation and game addiction should be treated to improve life satisfaction of male adolescents with high ADHD trait.

  • To form a foundation of basic materials to contribute in improved mental health of one-person households, the purpose of this study is to investigate the association of interpersonal relationships and depression and to identify indirect effect of satisfaction with life. To this end, the study used structural equation modeling, employing data from the 2012 Korean General Social Survey(KGSS), a nationally representative survey and targeted 300 living alone people who is older than 20 years old. The findings are as follows: First, the quality of interpersonal relationships has a negative effect on depression and can relieve depression. It also revealed that one-person households are not isolated from relationships and they utilize not only kin relational resources but non-kin resources while forming a positive relationships. Second, the quality of interpersonal relationships effects one's life satisfaction which ultimately has an effect on depression. It verifies that, within interpersonal relationship and depression, there are indirect effect resulting from satisfaction with life. Based on the result of current study, practical intervention programs to improve life satisfaction and prevent depression were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the correlations among mindfulness, interpersonal relationships, and life satisfaction and to verify the mediating effect of the interpersonal relationships. Questionnaire survey measuring the mindfulness, the interpersonal relationships, and the life satisfaction was performed for 549 adult males and females. The research results by structural equation model to investigate the correlations among mindfulness, interpersonal relationships, and life satisfaction are as follows. First, mindfulness, interpersonal relationships, and life satisfaction steadily increase in accordance with the three stages of life: youth, early adults, middle and old age. Second, mindfulness has a significantly positive effect on interpersonal relationships and life satisfaction, and interpersonal relationships also has a significantly positive effect on life satisfaction. Third, interpersonal relationships has a significantly mediating effect between the relationships between mindfulness and life satisfaction. These results imply that various and active works are required to improve interpersonal relationships as well as mindfulness to enhance life satisfaction.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between physical self-concept, interpersonal relationship satisfaction, and sociality in 250 elementary school students participating in dance education activities. Using IBM SPSS 21.0 and IBM AMOS 21.0 programs, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability Analysis, correlation analysis and structural model analysis. First, physical self-concept has a statistically significant effect on interpersonal relationship satisfaction. Second, physical self-concept had a statistically significant statistical effect on sociality. Third, interpersonal relationship satisfaction showed a statistically significant effect on sociality. In conclusion, it shows that educating elementary school students to have desirable physical self-concepts can lead to interpersonal relationship satisfaction and formation of sociality.

  • The purpose of this research was to understand the relations between the satisfaction of appearance and self-esteem and to prove mediating effect of interpersonal experience in that relation. The 239 subjects were selected from 118, 121 of male and female high school students in Seongnam. The research tools were Body Esteem Scale, the Self-Esteem Inventory and Relationship Scale. The Result of study were sa follows. First, appearance satisfaction, experience of relation and self-esteem had correlations in each relation. Second, Interpersonal experience would demonstrate self-esteem, and partial mediating effect was generated in the relations between appearance satisfaction and self-esteem. Especially, partial mediating effect was male student was higher. Based on these results, it was discussed the positive effects of positive interpersonal experiences on self-esteem for adolescents with low self-esteem due to low level of physical satisfaction and the direction of youth coaching.

  • Acquiring professional knowledge and clinical practice of nursing students is a major barrier to campus life and nursing education is needed the programs for considering student's stress and personal characteristics. This study was to understand relation among self-leadership, self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship and college life satisfaction in nursing students. We conducted a survey of 375 students in 4 nursing colleges during the period from March 2nd to 31st. 2014. The study found a positive correlation and significant direct effects between self-leadership, self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship and college life satisfaction and these variables explained 26.8% of college life satisfaction. Therefore, self-leadership of students can improve self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship, furthermore, improve ultimately college life satisfaction. According to this study, to improve college life satisfaction, student's personal characteristics should be considered and education programs for self-leadership, self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship be reflected in curriculum.

A Study on the Relationship between the Interpersonal Stress in Private Security Officers and Their Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention (민간경비원의 대인관계스트레스와 직무만족, 이직의도의 관계에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to confirm the effect of different types of interpersonal stress factors of private security officers that are prevalent in the course of carrying out their duties on job satisfaction and turnover intention. The authors have examined 175 of the 200 survey questionnaires distributed to the employees of private security firms located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province in December 2012. The result of the analysis indicates that the primary source of stress in the private security officers is the interaction with customers, followed by the relationships with colleagues and superior officers. In addition, colleague-related stress is found to be the only interpersonal stress factor with a statistically significant negative effect on job satisfaction, while both the stress from the relationships with colleagues and superior officers are positively correlated with turnover intention. Furthermore, the colleague-related stress is revealed to mediate job satisfaction which has a statistically significant effect on turnover intention. The result from the study emphasizes the importance of managing the interpersonal stress in private security officers and confirms the necessity of effectively handling the stressful situations in the relationships with colleagues. Moreover, in order to raise job satisfaction levels and minimize turnover which is vital in accomplishing the goal of each organization, causal factors of the stress need to be recognized and handled appropriately. This will provide the future research with an insight into the effective interpersonal stress management and examining other factors of job satisfaction and turnover intention of private security officers.

Effect of Perfectionism, Interpersonal Relationships Satisfaction, Self-leadership on Happiness of Nursing students (간호대학생의 완벽주의, 대인관계 만족도, 셀프리더십이 행복감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to confirm the effects of perfectionism, interpersonal relationships satisfaction, self-leadership on happiness in nursing students. This study targeted 240 nursing students in B and Y cities. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 22.0 program. The average happiness of the subjects was 2.77±0.67 points, and the difference in happiness according to general characteristics was significant in major satisfaction (F=7.488, p<.001). There was a positive correlation between happiness and perfectionism (r=.161, p=.013), interpersonal relationships satisfaction (r=.573, p<.001), and self-leadership (r=.476, p=.001). Interpersonal relationships satisfaction (β=.453, p<.001) and self-leadership (β=.268, p<.001) were the factors influencing happiness, with an explanatory power of 36.2%. Based on the study results, it is necessary to develop effective educational program to improve perfectionism, interpersonal relationships satisfaction, and self-leadership, in order to enhance the happiness of nursing students.
