  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the mediating effects of parental academic expectations and adolescent's optimism in the influence of perceived parental attachment on learning flow. The subjects of this study were 184 middle and high school students in Seoul. The results of this study are as follows. First, academic expectation and optimism showed significant full mediation effects on the relationship between parent attachment and learning flow. Second, there was no statistically significant difference in the difference between the indirect effects of academic expectation and optimism by the bootstrapping method. Based on the results of this study, it was found that the healthy attachment relationship with the parents increases the parent's supportive expectancy, improves the optimism for the youth, and improves the learning commitment for effective learning. Finally, we discussed the role and expectations of parents and adolescents in promoting the learning commitment of adolescents.

  • This study quantified optimism, emotional intelligence, and depression levels, and explored potential key factors affecting the depression level in undergraduate students. We performed a survey targeting undergraduate students in two Universities at D city and S city, between April 8th and 30th of 2016. After receiving informed consent, a total of 166 university students were recruited. They were asked to fill in a self-reported questionnaire about optimism, emotional-intelligence, and depression. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS version 22.0. The data analysis results showed that the mean score for optimism was $3.67{\pm}0.51$, $3.66{\pm}0.49$, and $3.69{\pm}0.55$ for overall undergraduate students, undergraduate nursing students, and undergraduate non-nursing students, respectively. Moreover, the mean score of emotional intelligence was $3.56{\pm}0.49$, $3.53{\pm}0.49$, and $3.60{\pm}0.51$, respectively. In addition, the mean score of depression was $8.28{\pm}7.48$, $10.97{\pm}7.65$, and $5.50{\pm}5.54$, respectively. It was revealed that a strong negative correlation exists among optimism, emotional intelligence, and depression. This correlation was stronger for undergraduate nursing students than undergraduate non-nursing students. Optimism and emotional intelligence were key factors influencing depression. The degree of this influence was higher for undergraduate nursing students than undergraduate non-nursing students. In conclusion, a program that empowers optimism and emotional intelligence is necessary to manage depression for undergraduate students.

The results are as follows respectively: life stress 1.34/4, state anger 1.24/4, trait anger 1.57/4 at average, and among optimism was 3.45/5 at average. Multiple regression analysis showed perceived physical health status(${\beta}=.20$ t=2.72, p=.007), satisfaction on college(${\beta}=.19$, t=2.53 p=.012) and life stress (${\beta}=-.14$ t=-2.28, p=.027) were related to factors. They accounted 18.2% of the optimism of the subjects. However, there was no significant correlation between optimism and anger of nursing students. The score of AIDS knowledge was 73%, and the self-esteem and sense of control scores were all rated higher than the median. The difference among groups according to grade and age were statistically significant in this study. The self-esteem, sense of control, and optimistic bias toward AIDS showed significant positive correlations, but AIDS knowledge, optimistic bias, and condom use have no correlations. The studies that examine psychological variables with condom use among various groups should be followed in the Chinese context.

Third, Controllability did not have a statistically significant effect on risk perception, Fourth, Severity did not have a statistically significant effect on perceived risk. Fifth, Unrealistic optimism had a statistically significant negative impact on perception of risk. The results of this study will contribute to the prevention of privacy incidents and the protection of smartphone users by using location - based SNS service. • This study designed a mediating pathways models to examine the theory, 'the influence of attachment relationship between adolescents and their parents affects on adolescents' psycho-social adjustment through the mediating variable of optimism'. Authors tried to examine if this theory is applied to group-home adolescents who live with surrogate care-givers instead of their parents. For this study, two models, 'Psychological Adjustment Model' and 'Social Adjustment Model' were constructed. Each model has path, 'Attachment with Care-givers → Psychological Adjustment' and ''Attachment with Care-givers → Social Adjustment' respectively. 'Optimism' is mediating variable in between these two variables. The results were very clear. In two models, no direct effects from 'Attachment' to 'Psychological Adjustment' and from 'Attachment' to 'Social Adjustment' were found. However, indirect effects from 'Attachment' to 'Psychological Adjustment' and from 'Attachment' to 'Social Adjustment' were statistically significant through the mediating variable of 'Optimism'. This study suggests that more research on 'Optimism' which has not been focused among social welfare researchers needs to be followed.
