Unfolding Nested Loops of Functional Languages for Multithreaded Architectures (다중스레드 구조를 위한 함수형 언어의 중첩루프 펼침)

  • We need an enormous amount of memories for name spaces as well as additional processors if we are to effectively exploit a massively parallelism in nested loops of functional languages such as Id. If there is no sufficient amount of memories enough to exploit that parallelism, the execution of programs can be aborted during the unfolding of loops. Additionally, if loops are overunfolded, compared with the number of processors available, the system performance can be degraded severely due to the overhead of loop unfolding. This paper suggests and analyzes an algorithm which can be used to effectively unfold nested loops of functional languages on multithreaded architectures. This algorithm has a feature to unfold a given nested loop safely and near optimally, considering the system resources of processors and memories available when the loop is to be unfolded.

A Study on the Cognitive Rehabilitation Project of the Elderly with Moderate Memory Dementia (기억학교 경증치매노인의 인지재활사업에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a cognitive rehabilitation program based on the cognitive activities of the elderly with mild dementia using the weekly care facilities in Daegu city memory and to provide useful welfare services for the elderly with mild dementia. In Korea, there is not much development of community-based integrated intervention program for demented patients who are still in the present situation. The results of this study suggest that the cognitive rehabilitation program for the elderly with mild dementia is suitable to be applied as a group in the case of community based protective editorials and may be a basis for management of mild dementia patients. It seems that there may be differences in the appropriate intervention methods and effects. Therefore, it is expected that the individualized customized strategy will maximize the effect. Therefore, more specific and individualized nursing intervention program should be concurrently developed.

Effects of the Integrative Cognitive Training Program on Elderly Cognitive Function (통합적 인지훈련프로그램의 노인 인지기능에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the Effects of the Integrative Cognitive Training Program on Cognitive Function of the community elderly. Nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. 28 subjects were assigned to each of the group. 24 sessions of the integrative Cognitive Training Program were applied to the experimental group from September to December. The program was provided twice per week for 12weeks, total 24 sessons to the experimental group. Cognition scale for older adults(CSOA) was used to measure cognitive function of the groups before and after the Intervention. The score of Cognition Scale for Older Adults was significantly increased in experimental group than in control group(p< .05). The results of the study that Integrative Cognitive Training Program can be vey useful to improve the cognitive ability for the community elderly.

Convergence study on the change of cognitive function through the intentional finger movement (의식적 손가락 움직임이 인지기능 변화에 미치는 융합연구)

  • This study was to investigate the effect of eye movement and intentional finger movement on cognitive ability. Normal adult subjects were randomly divided into two groups: saccadic eye movement(SEM) and intentional finger movement(IFM). After 2 weeks of intervention, Digit span was used for short-term memory test and N-back was used for working memory test. As a result, the short-term memory of the IFM group increased significantly over time, and the follow-up test showed difference between group. The IFM group's the execution time, the error count and the accuracy rate of n-back item showed significant effects over time. The SEM group's the execution time and the accuracy of n-back item showed significant effects over time. In conclusion, the IFM method, which is a multiple stimulus that can activate the cerebral cortex more extensively than the single stimulus SEM, may be more useful as an intervention method of cognitive function improvement.

  • 최근 기존의 시청촉감 이외에 후각을 이용하려는 시도가 증가하고 있으며, 상용화에 접근하고 있다. 후각의 경우는 자주 사용되지는 않지만, 매우 강력한 기억과 연상 메카니즘을 제공하며 기존 감각의 극적인 증강효과를 제공할 수 있으며, 방송이나 인터넷에서의 미디어의 실감효과 뿐만 아니라 가상현실과 증강현실을 실제 현실처럼 느끼게 만들 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 후각 디스플레이 기술의 현황과 연구 및 표준화 방향을 소개하고 후각 디스플레이의 적용에 있어 고려해야 하는 문제 등을 정리하고자 한다.

  • Imaging studies using MRI, PET, and/or MEG have been primary evaluation methods to quantitatively assess cognitive function. Recent advances in computational technology and information technology may allow a novel evaluation methodology to quantitate cognitive function more cost-effectively. In this study, we developed a software package composed of a series of tests to evaluate cognitive ability combined with a user-friendly touch screen input device. This cognitive assessment tool can quantitate concentration, numeric memory, associative memory, topological memory, visual and muscular reaction, and acoustic reaction over a relatively short testing time. We performed an empirical study on eighty normal subjects aged 20 and 59 years old using the developed evaluation methods. Age-related cognitive deterioration after 40 years old was confirmed. There was no difference in cognitive ability between male and female in the same age group. This study demonstrates the feasibility of a simple but effective evaluation software tool to quantitatively assess cognitive ability. This methodology may provide improved accessibility and reduced costs to perform cognitive function studies to compare between various subject groups.

Manufacturing of Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy using spark plasma sintering (SPS법을 이용한 CuZnAl계 형상기억합금의 제조)

  • The CuZnAl alloys have some advantages against other shape memory alloys, such as the widely variable transformation temperature, the low cost and easy fabrication. The alloys have been produced mostly by metallurgical methods. Thereby a tendency to large grain sizes is observed, which causes brittle properties of the materials. In order to avoid these deficiencies a special powder metallurgical process, SPS(spark plasma sintering), is applied in the present investigation. The starting materials were the pure (99.9 %) Cu, Zn and Al element powders with different particle size. The relatively fine grained and homogeneous Cu-24.78Zn-9.11Al (at.%) and Cu-13.22Zn-17.24Al (at.%) shape memory alloys were obtained using the powders with size of 75-150 $\mu$m. The average grain size is about 70 $\mu$m and the phases at room temperature are the austenitic and martensitic phase respectively.

  • Social collaboration and knowledge sharing among experts are the key characteristics of information system development projects. But the difficulty and complexity of communication may be the cause of the project failures. This study analyzes the influence of on-line social networking as communication system in information system development projects. A model has been developed to relate system, knowledge and social factors of on-line social networking to the performance of project members. Transactive Memory System (TMS), describing knowledge sharing process in human relationship, is used as a mediator. The analysis concludes that knowledge and social characteristics have positive effect on the members' performance, implying that the use of mobile devices and PCs as a social communication tool can be an effective way to enhance the possibility of project success.
