  • The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the subjective structure of classes for college students. This study was conducted using the Q-methodology, and 33 various items were selected through a comprehensive review and revision process. Forty college students were selected for the P sample. The results showed four types of perception regarding college classes: Type 1 (Substantial Class-Focused Type) includes those who want to be a mature person through college classes; Type 2 ( Practical Class-Focused Type) includes those who have an interest in college classes to develop their work skills; Type 3 (Educational Environment-Focused Type) includes those who feel class size, communication with teachers, and the educational system itself are important; and Type 4 (Personal Competence-Focused Type), which includes those who feel that the right to take classes in order to increase their competence without mandatory classes is very important. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the types of individuals in terms of college class perception, as well as to provide reference materials to improve educational innovation for college students.

  • This study examined the levels of language anxiety and their causal factors in different English class environments. The findings show that the levels of language anxiety vary significantly in different types of class environments, indicating that both the class environments and individual characteristics are meaningful variables of language anxiety. The findings also show that unlike the levels of language anxiety, its causal factors are almost constant regardless of the class environment with communication apprehension being the most important factor. This study suggests that the English proficiency of students and professors needs to be considered when constructing specific class environments, in addition to promoting class environments favorable to students' active participation in class.

  • We tested the difference and the relationship in instructional ratings by professors and college students. Subjects were 6 professors and 9 college students participated in teaching competition as a rater. They completed instructional rating forms consisted of 10 criteria for 11 participants according to Lickert Scale. Data were analyzed by independent t-test and Pearson correlation. Results were as follows: ① There was no statistical difference in mean scores between the professor and the student; ② Correlation between professors' and students' evaluations was .78 which is statistically meaningful and high. These results support the notion that students evaluate as reliably as professors. They also imply that pre-service college students can be utilized for teaching practice as meaningful peer evaluators. The findings are meaningful in that instructional ratings of instructors and students were compared in a controlled setting. However, replication studies involving wide range of instructors and students are needed for generalization since the subjects in this study were restricted to pre-service teachers and their instructors.

  • In a good class, the elements that make up the class are organically related as a system. The goal of the class is to foster the ability of students to fully understand the educational content of the subject and then apply it to their professional areas. Therefore, for ideal classes, it is necessary to design students to acquire the necessary theories and apply them practically. The question We always ask ourselves during lectures is how to effectively give large-scale lectures for students. This is also the concern of all professors in charge of large-scale lectures opened across various major fields. Now is the time to find ways to effectively give lectures on a large scale. We studied how it is most effective to design and implement various factors such as lectures, presentation and group organization, assignment, group presentation, professor's group presentation guidance, lecture materials posting, questions and answers, group presentation feedback, final report writing, and grade calculation.

  • This research aims is to confirm the effects of cultural competence of an action learning based teaching method in multicultural nursing education. Cultural competence was composed of cultural knowledge, cultural awareness and cultural acceptance. A total of 118 college students were enrolled in this study. Both before and after learning, the students were guided to fill out a questionnaire regarding culture competence. The students from each group studied multicultural nursing by different teaching types: the Traditional Lecture-based Teaching method (TLT) and Action Learning based Teaching method (ALT). Data analysis was carried out by SPSS 21.0. A pre-post comparison within the group was performed using a paired t-test and the comparison between groups was performed using ANCOVA. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the culture competence in both teaching methods. In addition, ALT showed higher cultural acceptance results than TLT; however, there was no difference in cultural knowledge and cultural awareness between the two groups Therefore, ALT should be considered as a teaching method to enhance cultural competence in multicultural nursing education for Nursing students. Further studies on instructional design according to the task types, nursing performance, and the validity of ALT will be needed.

  • This study is tried to to identify factors affecting academic achievement depending on the quality of class, learning immersion, level of academic achievement, and class type according to video production classes and real-time video classes in the on-contact learning situation due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The subjects of the study were 122 students enrolled in the nursing department at two universities. As a result of the study, the quality of the class was high in real-time video classes (t=-2.69, P=0.02), learning immersion was high in video production classes (t=1.14, P=0.28), and academic achievement was high in video production classes (t=4.24, P=0.01). Depending on the type of class, the effect on academic achievement is learning immersion in production video classes (β=.37, p<.001) has the most influence, and in real-time video classes, class quality (β=.29, p<.001) had the most influence on academic achievement. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that it is necessary to develop a strategy for instructional design suitable for class types to improve academic achievement in an on-contact environment.

  • This paper investigated the views of effective mathematics instruction on the part of school administrators, and then compared and contrasted such views with those of elementary school teachers based on the previous study. A total of 32 school administrators participated in this study and responded to three types of the questionnaire. The results of this study showed that school administrators regarded good mathematics teaching as using concrete materials and teaching students to think. School administrators put their first priority on curriculum and content among four main domains of good mathematics teaching, and did on constructing curriculum among seven sub-domains of good mathematics teaching. They agreed that good mathematics teaching includes teaching by reconstructing the curriculum according to students' various levels and teaching to emphasize the connection among mathematical concepts. However, they thought that good mathematics teaching might not include teaching for fluent calculation or teaching in well-equipped learning environment. The results of comparison of perspectives regarding good mathematics teaching between school administrators and teachers showed remarkably similar tendency. However, a noticeable difference was that school administrators agreed more than elementary school teachers with regard to the 20 elements related to effective mathematics instruction. This paper closes with implications based on the similarities and differences regarding effective mathematics instruction perceived by school administrators and teachers.

  • This study aimed to identify the efficiency of online non-face-to-face English classes to propose possibilities for expanding these types of classes in a sustainable way even in the post-COVID era. Moreover, the study suggests pedagogical implications for the directions that should be further explored for online non-face-to-face English classes. To this end, the study employed an online non-face-to-face English reading class using Zoom and investigated the effects of online teaching on college students' reading comprehension via two achievement tests. The study also analyzed learners' satisfaction or dissatisfaction with this online non-face-to-face English reading class (and their reasons) through a questionnaire. Ultimately, the study found that online non-face-to-face English reading classes have a positive effect on learners' reading comprehension learning. In addition, the reasons for learners' satisfaction with online non-face-to-face classes include systematic class progress, class quality, and efficiency of learning. Instructors must be aware of the need to expand online non-face-to-face classes, for which they will have to be thoroughly prepared in advance. Instructors will also need to implement efficient online class activities, organize classes systematically with detailed explanations, and provide quick and useful feedback.
