An Efficient VLSI Architecture for the Discrete Wavelet Transform (이산 웨이브렛 변환을 위한 효율적인 VLSI 구조)

  • This paper proposes efficient VLSI architecture for computation of the 1-D discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The proposed VLSI architecture computes the wavelet lowpass and highpass output sequences using the product term anhm, $n,m{\ge}0$, where an and hm denote the imput sequence and the wavelet lowpass filter coefficient, respectively. Whereas the conventional architectures compute the lowpass and highpass output sequences using the product terms anhm and angm, respectively, where gm denotes the wavelet highpass filter coefficient. The proposed architecture is applied to computation of the Daubechies 4-tap wavelet transform using the relationships between the Daubechies wavelet filter coefficients. Performance comparison of various architectures for computation of the 1-D DWT are presented. Note that the proposed architecture does not require extra processing units whereas the conventional architectures need them. Also it is modeled in very high speed integrated circuit hardware description language (VHDL) and simulated to show its functional validity.

  • The new method, termed the substructural eigensensitivity synthesis method, utilizes the computational merits of the component mode synthesis technique and of sensitivity analysis for the design sensitivities of the dynamic characteristics of substructurally combined structures. It is shown that the eigensensitivities of the entire structure can be obtained by synthesizing the substructural eigensolution and the sensitivities of the eigensolution for the design variables of the modifiable substructure. The sensitivities of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors obtained by the new method are compared to exact eigensolutions in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency. The small errors in eigensensitivity due to the truncation of higher modes remain within a manageable and permissible range for further analysis. The advantage of the newly proposed method as compared to the direct application of sensitivity analysis of the whole structure is demonstrated through examples.

  • An OS-CFAR (Ordered Statistics CFAR) based on a sorting algorithm is useful for automotive radar systems in a multi-target situation. However, while the typical cell-averaging CFAR has low computational complexity, the OS-CFAR has much higher computation effort. In this paper, we design the new OS-CFAR architecture with a low computational effort. In the proposed method, since one time sorting processing is performed for the decision of the CFAR threshold, the whole processing effort can be reduced. When the fast sorting technique is employed, the computing time of the proposed OS-CFAR is always much shorter compared with typical OS-CFAR method regardless of the data size. We also present the processing result of proposed architecture using the real radar data.

Hydroelastic Responses for a Very Large Floating Structure with a Breakwater (방파제를 고려한 초대형 부유식 해양구조물의 응답)

  • In this paper, elastic responses of a floating structure in waves with a breakwater are presented. The method of source-dipole distribution is used to analyze the velocity potentials for the fluid region. The deflections of structure are expanded approximately in terms of natural mode functions of free-free beam. The model for present calculation is a floating plate with an length of 1000m and the hydroelastic responses for a floating structure with a straight breakwater are shown. The effects of distance between breakwater and structure, bending rigidity and relative length of regular waves are examined.

  • The Interaction between tire and road is responsible for the excited vibration of the tire, and It is also important for the sound radiation. In this paper. measurement of tire structural vibration noise from a chassis dynamometer using Spatial Transformation of Sound Field(STSF) technique is studied. STSF involving a scan that uses an array of transducers over a planar surface close to the source is under investigation. From cross spectra measurement during the scan, a principal component representing the sound field is extracted. Any power descriptor of the near field can then be investigated by means of near-field acoustic holography, while the distant field can be determined by application of Helmholtz integral equation. The results of the measurement were used to obtain the radiation sound pattern from the center line of the tire, and to locate the radiation sound generating regions in the vicinity of the tire.

  • Three-Dimensional scene reconstruction from images acquired with different viewpoints is possible as estimating Fundamental matrix(F-matrix) that indicates the epipolar geometry of two images. Correspondence points required to calculate F-matrix of two images include noise such as miss matches, so generally it is hard to calculate F-matrix accurately. In this paper, we classify noise into two types; outlier and minute noise. we propose SSOR algorithm that estimate F-matrix effectively. SSOR algorithm is rejecting outlier step by step in a noise environment. To evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm we simulated with synthetic images and real images. As a result of simulation we show that proposed algorithm is better than conventional algorithms.

Computation of Radar Cross Section of Ship's Structure using a Physical Optics Method (물리 광학법을 이용한 함정구조물의 레이다 반사면적 계산)

  • In this study, a numerical scheme based on physical optics method is developed to predict RCS of perfectly conducting body. The scheme is verified through the comparisons of numerical values of cylinder and sphere with analytical ones. It is also applied to compute RCS of a fast naval craft. Major reflection of this ship at threat angle of 0 degrees is found to be due to superstructure and stern part of main hull. In order to investigate the shaping effects on the ship. inclination angles of the stern of main hull and superstructure are set to 12 degrees. The RCS of the ship with shaping is proven to be much reduced in comparison with one without shaping.

  • 본 논문에서는 작전환경과 위장무늬 디자인 영상 간의 색상 및 구조 분석 기반의 새로운 정량적 위장무늬 평가 방법을 제안한다. 작전환경 및 위장무늬 디자인 영상 간 RGB, Lab 색상 공간에서의 화소간 평균 오차 및 색상 히스토그램 비교를 통해 색상 유사도를 계산한다. 또한, PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio), MSSIM(Mean Structural Similarity Index), UIQI, GMSD 및 딥러닝 기반 영상 간 구조 유사도를 계산한다. Random Forest Regressor를 통해 각각 계산된 색상 및 구조 유사도 파라미터를 회기 분석하여 최종 위장무늬 평가 결과를 계산한다. 20명의 피실험자를 대상으로 제안한 위장무늬 평가 방법과 기존 평가 방법을 비교함을 통해 제안한 방법의 성능을 검증하였다.

Design Sensitivity Analysis for the Vibration Characteristics of Vehicle Structure (수송체 구조물의 진동특성에 관한 설계민감도 해석)

  • Design sensitivity analysis method for the vibration of vehicle structure is developed using adjoint variable method. A variational approach with complex response method is used to derive sensitivity expression. To evaluate sensitivity, FEM analysis of ship deck and vehicle structure are performed using MSC/NASTRAN installed in the super computer CRAY2S, and sensitivity computation is performed by PC. The accuracy of sensitivity is verified by the results of finite difference method. When compared to structural analysis time on CRAY2S, sensitivity computation is remarkably economical. The sensitivity of vehicle frame can be used to reduce the vibration responses such as displacement and acceleration of vehicle.
