This study investigated Korean medical students' satisfaction with education and examined the factors that affect the satisfaction with education. Based on a total of 372 survey responses, we analyzed the satisfaction with education by sectors, differences in the satisfaction with education between groups, and variables affecting the satisfaction with education. The results showed that the satisfaction with curriculum, instructors, evaluation, environment and overall education were all between 'neutral' and 'satisfied.' In addition, there were significant differences in overall satisfaction by gender and dropout experience, and the variables that significantly influenced overall satisfaction were curriculum, evaluation, and environment. This study is significant in that it investigated Korean medical students' satisfaction with education through the sophisticated measurements in various sectors, and suggested specific improvement strategies to increase educational satisfaction. However, there is a limitation that the results cannot be generalized because the study was limited to students at one university, so it is necessary to expand the scope of the further research to represent the population. Furthermore, it is necessary to collect and analyze data from various aspects, such as collecting qualitative data through student interviews to complement the quantitative data, so as to fully understand learners' needs. It is hoped that this study will encourage theoretical and practical research for improving Korean medicine education.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the preferred SSI topics of students and teachers in elementary, middle, and high schools. It analyzed the similarity of students' and teachers' preferred SSI topics by school level using the cosine similarity measure. A total of 566 students and 327 teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools participated in the study. Sixty topics were identified and listed in the areas of environment, science and technology, health and medicine, and other social issues based on the literature and SSI programs. Students and teachers were asked to select five of their favorite topics. The data was collected online using SurveyMonkey. The collected data was divided into six groups of students and teachers, and the frequency of topic selection was analyzed within each group. The topic preference similarity was analyzed by calculating vector values based on the frequency of the selected topics and measuring the cosine similarity between students, teachers, and teachers and students by school level. The results are as follows: First, the cosine similarity of SSI Preferred Topics between students' school-level cohorts was higher between middle and high school students (0.982) than between elementary and middle school students (0.651) or between elementary and high school students (0.662). Second, the cosine similarity of SSI Preferred Topics between teachers' school-level cohorts was similar for all comparison groups between elementary, middle, and high school. Third, the SSI topic preference similarity between students and teachers by school level had a higher cosine similarity between the elementary student and teacher cohorts (0.974) than the other school level comparisons, middle school (0.621) or high school (0.645). Access to topics of interest to students in SSI education is strongly associated with motivation and persistence in learning, as well as an enjoyable learning experience and positive attitudes toward learning. Therefore, when designing SSI lessons, it is important to examine topics from the perspective of student interest, especially if the teacher has selected SSI topics that are different from students' preferences. Careful instructional design will be needed to overcome the gap.

The purpose of this study was to investigate 1) how the middle school Home Economics teachers perceive the importance of the practical problem-focused instruction, 2) how often they perform the instruction, and 3) what they require for the implementation the instruction. Data were collected from 150 Home Economics teachers via e-mail survey and from 6 Home Economics teachers' face-to-face interviews. Descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation, and the results of such analyses as ANOVA, T-test, and correlation were reported using SPSS/win 10.1. The results of this research were as follows: First, even though the majority of the respondents recognized the high need for practical problem-focused instruction, only a small portion of the respondents reported that they performed that instruction in the classroom. There was no correlation between the perception of the need for practical problem-focused instruction and the degree of performance of practical problem-focused instruction. Secondly, the of performance of practical problem-focused instruction was significantly different depending on the years of teaching experience and the subject that the teachers majored in. Job satisfaction had positive correlations with the perception of the need for practical problem-focused instruction and the degree of performance of practical problem-focused instruction. Thirdly, the more teachers shared information and materials with colleagues, the better they tended to be at practical problem-focused instruction. On the other hand, insufficient time for their instruction and a deficiency in understanding the rationale of the instruction were pointed out as barriers to classroom practice. The respondents answered that long-term training programs on the philosophical foundation of practical problem-focused instruction, materials related to the instruction as well as additional credits for Home Economics are most critical to reduce the discrepancy between the teacher perception and the classroom practice of practical problem-focused instruction.

Science inquiry has long been emphasized in Korean science education. Scientific modeling is one of key practices in science inquiry with a potential to provide students with opportunities to develop their own explanations and knowledge thereafter. The purpose of this study is to investigate teacher's understanding of models in science and science teaching. A professional development program on Models (PDM) was developed and refined through three times of implementation while teachers' conceptions of models and modeling were examined. A total of 29 elementary and secondary teachers participated in this study. A survey based on model use of scientists in the history of science was developed and used to collect data and audio recordings of discussions among teachers and artifacts produced by the teachers during PDM were also collected. Three ways of ontological and two ways of epistemological understanding of models and modeling were found in teachers' ideas. After PDM, a quarter of the teachers changed their ontological understanding whereas very few changed their epistemological understanding. In contrast, more than two thirds of the teachers deepened and extended their ideas about using models and modeling in teaching. There were no clear relationships between teachers' understanding of models and ways and ideas about using models in science teaching. However, teachers' perceptions of school conditions were found to mediate their intention to use models in science teaching. The findings indicate possible approaches to professional development program content design and further research.

In 1946, many native korean mathematical terms are coined newly by the ministry of education of USAMGIK(the United States Army Military Government in Korea) through referring to the opinions of various circles. In native korean mathematical terms created at the time, many of them are coined, either by using native korean words corresponding to the meaning of chines characters, or by abbreviating newly coined native korean mathematical terms. However, in less than 20 years, about half of native korean mathematical terms made in 1946~1947 has been went back to chines character mathematical terms, and most of those chines character mathematical terms has been used up to now from then. Although, in the teaching and learning of mathematics, the discomfort of chinese characters mathematical terms is pointed out and it is claimed that the use of native korean mathematical terms is helpful, it is not everything to hurry to use native korean mathematical terms. Attempts to convert chinese characters mathematical terms into native korean mathematical terms should be prudent. When a certain native korean mathematical term is used, if it must be used only because it is a native korean mathematical term, then the term has no choice but to fail. In this paper, we propose the following three implications as conclusions for the successful use of native korean mathematical terms in this viewpoint. First, attempts to coin native korean mathematical terms should be continued. Second, it is necessary to identify the survival power of well-preserved native korean mathematical terms. Third, it is necessary to identify the failure factors of native korean mathematical terms which does not survive today.

The purpose of this study is to propose the direction of AI education in K-12 education through investigating and analyzing aspects of the purpose, content, and methods of AI education as the curriculum and teacher training factors. We collected and analyzed 9 papers as the primary literature and 11 domestic and foreign policy reports as the secondary literature. The collected literatures were analyzed by applying a descriptive reviews, and the implications were derived by analyzing the curriculum components and TPACK elements for multi-dimensional analysis. As a result of this study, AI education targets were divided into three steps: AI users, utilizer, and developers. In K-12 education, the user and utilizer stages are appropriate, and artificial intelligence literacy must be included for user education. Based on the current computing thinking ability and coding ability for utilizer education, the implication was derived that it is necessary to target the ability to create creative output by applying the functions of artificial intelligence. In addition to the pedagogical knowledge and the ability to use the platform, The teacher training is necessary because teachers need content knowledge such as problem-solving, reasoning, learning, perception, and some applied mathematics, cognitive / psychological / ethical of AI.

The purpose of this study is to investigate pre-service science teachers' motivation factor and satisfaction of teaching choice in Korea. For this purpose, we surveyed 815 pre-service science teachers in 11 universities in Korea. The questionnaire used in this study was the FIT-Choice scale (Factors Influencing Teaching-Choice) developed by Richardson and Watt (2006). The most significant factor in choosing teaching science as a profession was 'intrinsic value,' followed by 'social utility value,' but lower than the average of other countries in the previous research results. The confidence in teaching professions was low because the percentage of respondents about 'ability' was low and 'task demand' was high. Satisfaction with teaching choice was 5.36, and it is lower than the average of responses in Australia and USA. As for the differences according to gender, male pre-service teachers responded that they chose teaching because they have the proper ability to teach, while female pre-service teachers perceived that the influence of others was greater. Also, female pre-service teachers felt the burden of job such as hard work and emotional demands more than men. Finally, the motivation which showed the highest correlation with the satisfaction of choosing to teach was the intrinsic value. Therefore, finding ways to increase the intrinsic/social utility motivation for pre-service science teachers and differentiated approach considering gender differences are needed.
Many factors that may affect teaching aptitude of pre-service early childhood teachers have been discovered. However, little is known about the relationship between self-esteem and teaching aptitude in them. This study aimed to investigated self-esteem in relation to teaching aptitude in pre-service early childhood teachers. Pre-service early childhood teachers' self-esteem scale and teaching aptitude scale assessed the self-esteem and teaching aptitude of 344 pre-service early childhood teachers in C-city in Gangwon-do and N-city in Kyunggi-do, Korea. Results showed that all four dimensions of the self-esteem were significantly related to teaching aptitude, indicating that pre-service early childhood teachers with higher self-esteem were likely to have greater teaching aptitude. Regression analysis indicated that self-esteem in the areas of leadership and popularity, self-assertiveness, and social-relations significantly predicted teaching aptitude of pre-service early childhood teachers.
The purpose of this study is meant to develop an evaluation framework for PBL and S-PBL package, as well as verify reliability and propriety of developed framework. To achieve the purpose, existing researches and related documents were considered, and composed basic questionnaire which fits to the basic frame of the framework, 3 categories 15 items for PBL/S-PBL. Verifying its contents propriety, examined by 9 experts who professors in college and made 14 items for PBL, 15 items for S-PBL. To verify construct validity of basic frameworks, carried out factor analysis. Final evaluation framework questionnaire were 15 items selected, its PBL for 3 items in motivating, 7 items in integrity, 4 items in systematic and total 14 items, S-PBL for 4 items in motivating, 6 items in integrity, 5 items in systematic and total 15 items, and was verify to have adequate reliability with Cronbach's $\alpha$ is 0.9112 in PBL, 0.9166 of S-PBL.
This study investigated the frequent mistakes and the causes of the alternative conceptions in the animal classification by using the questionnaire and interview with the middle school students (N=300). As results, some students have difficulties classifying suggested animals into vertebrates or invertebrates : snakes (31.7%), shrimps (28.3%), turtles (25.6%), frogs (24.7%), and starfish (10.7%) in order of precedence. These errors seemed to be caused by intuitive thinking over characteristics of physical motions and appearance of suggested animals, wrong inference from comparing to features of familiar animals and the lack of observation experience of the vertebrate backbone. Furthermore, the results showed that relatively many students made a mistake classifying subgroup members of vertebrates such as classifying salamanders into the class Reptilia (45.3%) and turtles into Amphibia (40.3%). It is likely that those errors are affected by ambiguousness of classification terminology (e.g. the term of Amphibia) and weak ability in relating the physiological and ecological feature to standard of classification feature. In addition, sociocultural factors could influence animal classification as 'bat in birds', 'whale in fish, and 'penguin in mammals'. The present study implied that teaching and learning animal classification may require an appropriate guide focused on activities to explore major characteristics used for the animal classification standard through providing more chances of animal observation rather than the cramming method of learning induced by technical memorizing.
