To evaluate the performance of the question and answer services provided through the internet portals in Korea, question and answer transcript of four major services were sampled systematically. Using the digital reference evaluation framework, number and types of questions, response rate, timeliness, accuracy for information questions and user satisfaction were measured and analyzed. The level of the service performance is identified and compared. The conclusion includes suggestions for service improvement.

본 논문에서는 정보검색에서 시소러스를 이용한 효율적이고 효과적인 질의 평가 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서 시소러스 내부 용어들 간의 관계와 관련도가 용어 매트릭스로 표현되며, 용어들 간의 관계는 동의, 계층, 그리고 연관관계의 세 가지 관계가 제공된다. 시소러스 내부 용어들 간의 무시된 관련도가 퍼지 이론에 근거한 용어 매트릭스의 전이폐쇄 알고리즘에 의해 추론된다. 따라서 다양한 관계에 따른 시소러스에 표현된 지식을 이용할 수 있다. 또한 질의 평가시 용어 매트릭스를 이용하기 때문에 논문[3-7]에서 사용되는 방법보다 시간적으로 효율적이다. 그리고 정의된 용어 매트릭스는 논문[8]에서 발생되는 문제점을 제거하여 검색 효과를 높이기 위해 논문[6]에서 제안된 질의 평가함수와 용이하게 통합시킨다.

This experimental study suggests an element-based XML document retrieval method that reveals highly relevant elements. The models investigated here for comparison are divergence and smoothing method, and hierarchical language model. In conclusion, the hierarchical language model proved to be most effective in element-based XML document retrieval with regard to the improved exhaustivity and harmed specificity.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a new educational model of information retrieval suited to the practical needs. For this, technical, methodological, social, and economic changes of information retrieval environment are analysed and the required roles for the information retrieval services are evaluated. In addition, this study investigated the educational situation of the subject of information retrieval at 32 universities and 2 institutions. The findings suggest that the subject of information retrieval should be seperated into theoretical instruction and practical hours in order to meet the new requirements.

지식구조로 시소러스를 이용하는 기존의 정보검색 시스템들이 사용자에게 만족할 만한 검색결과를 제시하지 못하고 있다. 이것은 기존의 정보검색 시스템들이 이용하고 있는 시소러스 구조가 사람의 지식구조와 다르고, 시소러스를 이용하는 검색 방법이 사람의 검색 방법과 차이가 있기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 어떤 분야의 인간 전문가가 해당분야에 관한 전문지식이 없는 일반인이 필요로 하는 정보를 찾아주는 방법을 모델링한 지능형 정보검색 시스템을 개발하기 위하여 인간 전문가의 지식구조를 모방한 시소러스 구조를 설계하였고, 인간 전문가의 검색 방법을 모방한 검색 방법을 고안하였다. 설계된 시소러스 구조에는 인간 전문가의 지식구조 내에 표현되어 있는 여러 종류의 관계들이 포함되어있고, 고안된 검색방법은 관련도를 사용자의 질의어와 확장된 색인어 사이의 관계의 종류를 추론한 결과와 거리 단계를 고려하여 평가한다.

퍼지관계 개념을 응용한 BK-퍼지정보검색기법은 형태론에 입각하는 기존의 정보 검색기법과는 달리 문서와 용어의 상대적 의미에 근거하는 정보검색 기법이다. 그러나 BK-퍼지정보검색기법은 높은 시간복잡도(time-complexity)의 검색 연산을 내재하고 있어 실제 대용량의 정보 검색은 사실상 불가능하다. 본 논문에서는 BK-퍼지정보검색모델(BK-FIRM)의 높은 시간복잡도를 낮추기 위해, 용어집합의 부분집합으로서 그 원소 개수는 상수처럼 작용하는 축소용어집합(reduced term set)을 이용한 개선된 퍼지정보검색모델(A-FIRM)을 제안하고 실제 이를 처리시간과 신뢰도 측면에서 분석 및 비교한다.

In this thesis, we propose a semantics-based video retrieval system which supports semantics-retrieval for various users of massive video data. Proposed system automatically processes the extraction of contents information which video data has and retrieval process using agent which integrate annotation-based retrieval and feature-based retrieval. From experiment, the designed and implemented system shows increase of recall rate and precision rate for video data scene retrieval in performance assessment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze mobile web accessibility of public libraries. To achieve this, accessibility checklists were driven from mobile web and application guidelines. The study also conducted automatic and manual evaluations. As results, the study found that text alternatives for resource image, main menu, image for text contents were mainly missing. In addition, focus for retrieval, operating system accessibility for retrieval, and id & password label, color difference for library calendar and seat reservation, brightness difference for main manu and resource display, and space between controls for retrieval were mainly missing. The study also suggested focal missing areas for main library services. It will be utilized as checklists for development of mobile services.

This paper focuses on the opinion information extraction and analysis system through Web mining that is based on statistics collected from Web contents. That is, users' opinion information which is scattered across several websites can be automatically analyzed and extracted. The system provides the opinion information search service that enables users to search for real-time positive and negative opinions and check their statistics. Also, users can do real-time search and monitoring about other opinion information by putting keywords in the system. Proposing technique proved that the actual performance is excellent by comparison experiment with other techniques. Performance evaluation of function extracting positive/negative opinion information, the performance evaluation applying dynamic window technique and tokenizer technique for multilingual information retrieval, and the performance evaluation of technique extracting exact multilingual phonetic translation are carried out. The experiment with typical movie review sentence and Wikipedia experiment data as object as that applying example is carried out and the result is analyzed.

This study aims to propose considerations for improving search services in local archives. In this study, evaluation areas and factors were derived through the analysis of previous research and case studies of finding aids and archival contents in local archives. Afterward, an interview was conducted with five experts to verify the developed evaluation area and factors. Through the evaluation factors and considerations suggested in this study, it will be possible to objectively identify the search service of the institution. In addition, it is expected that practitioners can use it as basic data in the future, and furthermore, it will help improve the search service.
