  • This study was performed to analyze the physical attributes of the faces and affective words on the fares. For analyzing physical attributes inside of a face, 36 facial features were selected and almost of them were the lengths or distance values. For analyzing facial contour 14 points were selected and the lengths from nose-end to them were measured. The values of these features except ratio values normalized by facial vortical length or facial horizontal length because the face size of each person is different. The principal component analysis (PCA) was performed and four major factors were extracted: 'facial contour' component, 'vortical length of eye' component, 'facial width' component, 'eyebrow region' component. We supposed the five-dimensional imaginary space of faces using factor scores of PCA, and selected representative faces evenly in this space. On the other hand, the affective words on faces were collected from magazines and through surveys. The factor analysis and multidimensional scaling method were performed and two orthogonal dimensions for the affections on faces were suggested: babyish-mature and sharp-soft.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the impact of cognitive factors and GSR on the task performance. For this study 64 students participated. Multiple regression and repeated measures were applied to analyze the data. The result for the survey indicated that previous knowledge, physical efforts, and task difficulty had significant impacts on task performance. Particularly, task difficulty has a negative impact. This can be interpreted as someone who has high prior knowledge inputs higher physical efforts with low task difficulty perception will show high performance. On the other hand, the low arousal level of GSR in the evaluation stage is a prediction variable of task performance. This result shows that high prior knowledge and low arousal level of GSR produces high performance. However, the analysis of difference in GSR between learning and evaluation stages does not show significant difference. It suggests that physiological measure such as GSR is reliable index of cognitive load; however, it partially represents cognitive load. Other crucial factors should be added for comprehensive measures.

  • The aim of this study was to determine whether or not cardiovascular reactivity parameters serve as good indicators in identifying differential emotion in children. The study particularly focused on five emotions(i.e., happiness, sadness, anger, stress, and boredom), thus, study participants were introduced to a combination of music, color, stories, and dolls to induce complex emotions. During the experiment, corresponding cardiovascular reactivity in response to the conditioned stimuli were recorded on physiological parameters including HR, RSA, HRV, HF HRV, LF HRV, and FPV. After the cardiovascular reactivity responses were measured, participants rated on the types and intensity of emotions they had experienced during the emotional stimuli exposure. Results on psychological response show that four emotions except for stress were appropriately and effectively induced participants by emotional stimuli. Findings of physiological responses suggest that, except for RSA, all of the physiological indicators show significant differences among five emotions. This indicates that children' emotions can be measured and differentiated by cardiovascular reactivity, or in other words, emotion specific responses have the ability to distinguish different emotions in children.

  • This study examined the difference between the deaf and hearing adolescents of experiencing emotions and the intensity levels of expressing them. Three different video clips were used to induce pleasure, anger, and sadness. While watching the clips, facial expressions of the participants were recorded. The experienced emotions were measured by a self-report method, and the third person rated participants' expressed emotions based upon the recorded facial images. Two groups (deaf and hearing) were compared if those two groups shared the same experienced emotions, and whether the ratings scored by the third person corresponded with the self-rated scores. There was no significant difference in experienced emotion and its intensity level. However, hearing adolescents showed more intensive responses of pleasure than they reported, while deaf adolescents showed less intensive expressions of happiness than they reported themselves. Thus, hearing people might not be able to detect and fully comprehend how the deaf feel in general circumstances. This further indicates that the deaf adolescents cannot get enough supports from the hearing people when they express their feelings, and consequently, have a possibility of causing misunderstandings, conflicts, or even a break in relationships.

  • This is a basic research aimed at enhancing a brand image by unifying color images of a brand at both online and offline stores. h survey was conducted on color images of online and offline stores to measure the level of consistency between consumers' perception of the color image and the brand's color strategy. A brand preference survey was also performed to shed light on the relationship between the brand preference and the consistency of color images at online and offline stores. This study is committed to building an effective color strategy, based on the brand strategy, through web color planning that is consistent with the offline color image. This paper started with a specific purpose of devising solutions in regard to the prior study, entitled 'Study on Color Strategies in Brand Coffee', which recognizes the need for consistent color images, or integrated color strategies, in online and offline stores. I specifically took the approach of looking at color planning in the stage of designing a website. Two standards were used to analyze emotional and functional aspects of color images: color grading by I.R.I and five communicators of color information by Rouge. Direct visits were made to the offline stores for surveys to address the shortcomings of the prior study, in which offline stimuli were limited to printed materials. The direct visits enabled a study of an overall color image of the offline stores, while providing a set of substantial and specific guidelines for designing colors for a website. I hope this study goes a long way toward enhancing the level of consistency between online and offline color images based on the brand's unique color strategy, and thereby improving the overall level of brand image.

본 연구의 결과들은 연안해역에 benso[a]pyrene과 같은 지속성 유기오염물질이 유입되었을 때 내정여부에 따라 식물플랑크톤 군집내 종 천이와 일차생산력에 크게 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.TEX>5.2개)였으며, 등급별 회수율은 각각 GI(8.5%), GII(13.4%), GIII(43.9%), GIV(34.2%)로 나타났다.ments of that period left both in Japan and Korea. • Recently in HCI research, emotion recognition is one of the core processes to implement emotional intelligence. There are many studies using bio signals in order to recognize human emotions, but it has been done merely for the basic emotions and very few exists for the other emotions. The purpose of present study is to confirm the difference of autonomic nervous system (ANS) response in three emotions (boredom, pain, and surprise). There were totally 217 of participants (male 96, female 121), we presented audio-visual stimulus to induce boredom and surprise, and pressure by using the sphygmomanometer for pain. During presented emotional stimuli, we measured electrodermal activity (EDA), skin temperature (SKT), electrocardiac activity (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG), besides; we required them to classify their present emotion and its intensity according to the emotion assessment scale. As the results of emotional stimulus evaluation, emotional stimulus which we used was shown to mean 92.5% of relevance and 5.43 of efficiency; this inferred that each emotional stimulus caused its own emotion quite effectively. When we analyzed the results of the ANS response which had been measured, we ascertained the significant difference between the baseline and emotional state on skin conductance response, SKT, heart rate, low frequency and blood volume pulse amplitude. In addition, the ANS response caused by each emotion had significant differences among the emotions. These results can probably be able to use to extend the emotion theory and develop the algorithm in recognition of three kinds of emotions (boredom, surprise, and pain) by response measurement indicators and be used to make applications for differentiating various human emotions in computer system.

  • Using flight simulator tasks with 48 air force cadets, this research examined the effects of pilots' flight skill and self-esteem on risk-taking behavior in the context of social comparison with their cohorts. Flight skill and self-esteem were assessed for individual cadets and three conditions of social comparison (upward-, downward-, and no-comparison) were devised. Flight simulator situations inappropriate for further approach or landing were designed to assess pilots' risk-taking behavior. Weather conditions in the simulator were inadequate to make a landing and the recommended strategy was to break off the approach and attempt a go-around. In this experiment, pilots' risk taking was measured in terms of their approach altitudes; the lower approach altitudes indicative of the higher risk-taking. Our results showed interaction effects of flight skill, self-esteem, and social comparison on risk-taking behaviors. For pilots who were either high or low in both self-esteem and flight skill, social comparison had no effect on risk-taking behavior. However, pilots with high self-esteem but low flight skill showed more risk-taking behaviors in social comparison conditions. And, pilots with low self-esteem but high flight skill showed risk-aversive behaviors in the downward-comparison condition.

  • This study investigated the differential effects of childhood trauma, especially neglect, emotional abuse, and physical abuse on stress perception in relation to the ToM (theory of mind), among one-hundred and fifty five college students. For this purpose, self-reported childhood neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and stress levels during the previous week were measured. Social cognition was measured using a ToM questionnaire which asked respondents to guess the intentions of the person in each vignette by providing additional hints. In order to examine the predicting role of childhood trauma and mediating role of ToM, two distinct structural models assuming full (Model 1) and partial (Model 2) mediational effects were compared using structural equation modeling. The partial mediational model was supported and the main results were as follows. First, childhood neglect indirectly predicted stress perception through the effect of the ToM. Second, childhood emotional abuse directly predicted stress perception. Third, childhood physical abuse had no distinct effect on stress perception. Finally, the limitations of this study and the implications for future studies are discussed.

  • The study is to examine how facial EMG responses change when children experience a positive emotion(happiness) and a negative emotion(fear). It is to prove that the positive emotion(happiness) could be distinguishable from the negative emotion(fear) by the EMG responses. Audiovisual film clips were used for evoking the positive emotion(happiness) and the negative emotion(fear). 47 children (11-13 years old, 23 boys and 24 girls) participated in the study Facial EMG (right corrugator and orbicularis oris) was measured while children were experiencing the positive or negative emotion. Emotional assessment scale was used for measuring children's psychological responses. It showed more than $85\%$ appropriateness and 3.15, 4.04 effectiveness (5 scale) for happiness and fear, respectively. Facial EMG responses were significantly different between a resting state and a emotional state both in happiness and in fear (p<001). Result suggests that each emotion was distinguishable by corrugator and orbicularis oris responses. Specifically, corrugator was more activated in the positive emotion(happiness) than in the negative emotion(fear), whereas orbicularis oris was more activated in the negative emotion(fear) than in the positive emotion(fear).
