  • The purpose of this study is to identify the differences of student satisfaction depending on tutor's content expertise and experience in PBL of nursing. Nursing department, the subject of this study, is operating Hybrid PBL Curriculum that integrates the courses in nursing for all grades. Tutor's expertise was categorized based on their final dissertations and the clinical fields for which they worked. Tutor's experience in PBL is less than one year for beginners and more than 10 years for experts. After the PBL class for 6 weeks, the 3rd grade students were surveyed. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in the student satisfaction according to the content expertise, however, the student satisfaction depending on tutor's experience and the interaction effect between tutor's content expertise and experience were not significant. This study has raised the importance of the role of tutor as content expert in PBL. It is suggested that future studies be repeated for more tutors with diverse subject areas and majors to examine the differences between diverse variables other than student satisfaction.

This correlational study involved 210 third- and fourth-year nursing students with clinical practice experience. Data were collected from April 1 to May 30, 2014. Data were analyzed using t-tests, correlation analyses, and regression analyses with SPSS Program 20.0. Also, AMOS were used for confirmatory factor analysis. Stress in clinical practice explained 30% of the variance in satisfaction with one's major, and was the strongest predictor of nursing professionalism, explaining 53% of the variance in the same. The results show the need for educational interventions to enhance students' perceived value of and satisfaction with nursing, as well as for structured and systematic educational programs that consider individual characteristics.

  • This study is a phenomenological study that aimed to understand the meaning of nursing students' experience of class using flipped learning method. The participants are 8 senior nursing students. The data collected by individual in-depth interviews and analyzed by Colaizzi's method. As a result of this study, 35 key themes and 11 clusters of themes were derived. The 11 thematic categories are classified in pre-education, in-classroom, and post-education. At the pre-education, the theme clusters are 'lack of information', 'psychological burden', 'different teaching methods', 'improvement of self-directed learning ability', and 'different learner's achievement'. At the in-class, the theme clusters are 'efficient teaching direction' and 'confidence improvement'. At the post-education stage, the theme clusters are 'positive influence on class', 'strengthening self-pay', 'not preferred', and 'lecture preference'. Therefore, a more diversified and in-depth repetitive study is suggested in order to apply the flipped learning method to the nursing major.
