  • This paper describes a new programmable DLL_based frequency synthesizer. Generally, PLLs have been used for frequency synthesis. Inherent fast locking DLLs are also used for frequency synthesis. However, DLL needs a frequency multiplier for various frequencies. A conventional frequency multiplier used in DLL has a restriction in which a multiple is fixed. However, the proposed DLL can generate clocks which are from 6 times to 10 times of the reference clock. Frequency range of the proposed DLL is from 600MHz to 1GHz. The idea has been confirmed by HSPICE simulations in a $0.35-\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process.

  • The system that is thermal test system for elements has been controlled generally by PID algorithm because of its characteristic. There is not a mathematical model for the system. So the system that is use the PID controller is not properly operated. To solve this problem, we propose a fuzzy algorithm that parameters and rule base is selected by self-searched algorithm for each system. The input fuzzy membership function is adapted based on the set stable range. Output membership function is nearly fixed but some parameter is adjustable. The rule base is changed under basis on the system response. The output value computed through inference and defuzzification is mapped into a value that is proper for the system operation. Through this regulation, it will be possible to prevent the temperature of system to go into the unstable temperature.

  • Learning procedure in the neural network is updating of weights between neurons. Unadequate initial learning coefficient causes excessive iterations of learning process or incorrect learning results and degrades learning efficiency. In this paper, adaptive learning algorithm is proposed to increase the efficient in the learning algorithms of Self-Organization Neural Networks. The algorithm updates the weights adaptively when learning procedure runs. To prove the efficiency the algorithm is experimented to classification of strokes which is the reference handwritten character. The result shows improved classification rate about 1.44~3.65% proposed method compare with Kohonan and Mao's algorithms, in this paper.

  • In this paper we propose an auto tonal detection method which exploits short term stationary when targets located in a detection beam area and then additional methods are proposed in order to reduce the computational complexity of the proposed method. The proposed method is adaptive to input signals and robust against interference caused by multiple targets because it compares an expected value of input signals with a threshold value which are estimated from a single beam while signals are keep stationary. The performances of the proposed methods are evaluated using by simulated data and acquired data from real ocean. The proposed method has shown better performance than conventional CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) methods.

  • We presents a modified variable dimension filter with input estimation for maneuvering target tracking. The conventional variable dimension filter with input estimation(VDIE) consists of the input estimation(IE) technique and the variable dimension(VD) filter. In the VDIE, the IE technique is used for estimation of a maneuver onset time and its magnitude in the least square sense. The detection of the maneuver is declared according to the estimated magnitude of the maneuver. The VD filter structure is applied for the adaptation to the maneuver of the target after compensating the filter parameter with respect to the estimated maneuver when the detection of the maneuver is declared. The VDIE is known as one of the best maneuvering target tracking filter based on a single filter. However, it requires too much computational burden since the IE technique is performed at every sampling instance and thus it is computationally inefficient. We propose another variable dimension filter with input estimation named 'Modified VDIE' which combines VD filter with If technique. Modified VDIE has less computational load than the original one by separating maneuver detection and input estimation. Simulation results show that the proposed VDIE is more efficient and outperforms in terms of computational load.

  • In this paper, an 1-Watt amplifier for IMT-2000 was designed and fabricated using feedfarward method which has the highest linearity and wide bandwidth. Since feedforward is sensitive to surroundings for example heat, input power level, time and so on, adaptive controller using micro controller is adopted. We fabricated a HPA with 35 dB gain, 40 dBm of 1-dB compression point, and utilized variable attenuator and variable phase shifter using reflection type to cancel loop signal. From the measured results, the fo11owing facts were obtained, in signal loop, main carrier over 35 dB was suppressed and error signal over 30 dB is cancelled in error loop, IMD characteristics above 60 dBc were obtained.

  • Chattering phenomenon is still a large drawback of VSS. To overcome this problem, various approaches have been reported. A new notion of sliding sector has been proposed recently. Inside this sector, a kind of norm of the state decreases without control input. Therefore, so long as the state is constrained inside this sector, the norm of the state approaches to zero. The sliding sector theory is elementary study step and is studied about only linear systems. In this paper, new methods of the tracking control of unstable nonlinear systems using the sliding sector is proposed. This paper analyzes the stability, using Lyapunov function on the sliding sector. Through the computer simulations for an inverted pendulum system, it is verified that sliding sector control is capable to reduce the chattering.

  • Speech recognition performance is degraded by the variation in vocal tract length among speakers. In this paper, we have used a vocal tract length normalization method wherein the frequency axis of the short-time spectrum associated with a speaker's speech is scaled to minimize the effects of speaker's vocal tract length on the speech recognition performance In order to normalize vocal tract length, we tried several frequency warping functions such as linear and piece-wise linear function. Variable interval piece-wise linear warping function is proposed to effectively model the variation of frequency axis scale due to the large variation of vocal tract length. Experimental results on TIDIGITS connected digits showed the dramatic reduction of word error rates from 2.15% to 0.53% by the proposed vocal tract normalization.

  • In this paper, we propose an LLC resonant converter that operates over a wide controllable output voltage ($50V_{DC}$ to $800V_{DC}$) and shows high efficiency characteristics under all load conditions and output voltages. Two 3.3kW prototypes are designed for an experimental comparison between the variable frequency control (control scheme 1) and the variable input voltage($V_{IN}$) control (control scheme 2) mechanisms. The experimental results show that the variable input control mechanism demonstrates high efficiency under all loads and output voltages.
