Cycle Detection in Discrete Logarithm Using a Queue (큐를 이용한 이산대수의 사이클 검출)

  • This paper proposes a discrete logarithm algorithm that largely reduces execution times of Pollard's Rho and Brent's algorithm in obtaining ${\gamma}$ from ${\alpha}^{\gamma}{\equiv}{\beta}$(mod p). The proposed algorithm can be distinguished from the conventional Brent's algorithm by three major features: it sets an initial value as $x_0={\alpha}{\beta}$ in lieu of $x_0=1$; replaces $y=x_i$, ($i=2^k$) pointer with $y_j{\leftarrow}x_i$, ($i=2^k$, $1{\leq}j{\leq}10$) for a Queue the size 10; and detects collision of ${\beta}_{\gamma}$, ${\beta}_{{\gamma}^{\prime}}$, ${\beta}_{{\gamma}^{-1}}$ instead of ${\beta}_{\gamma}$. This Queue method has reduced the execution time of Pollard's Rho algorithm with $x_0=y_0=1$ by 65.02%, and that of Brent's algorithm with $x_0=1$ by 47.80%.

Immunostimulating Effects of Acanthopanax in mice following Gamma-ray irradiation (방사선 조사 마우스에서 오가피의 면역활성 효과)

  • This experimental study was carried out to investigate the immunostimulating effect of Acanthopanax, as Oriental rhizomata herbs, on jejunal survival, endogenous spleen colony formation, apoptosis in jejunal crypt cells and lipid peroxidation in the liver of mice following Gamma-ray irradiation. The subject of this study includes 72 mice which were divided into each 7 groups. Acanthopanax experiment groups were Acanthopanax. Gamma-ray(lOGy), Acanthopanax. Gamma-ray(3Gy), Acanthopnax. Gamma-ray(1Gy), Gamma-ray control(1OGy), Gamma-ray control(3Gy), Gamma-ray control(1Gy), Normal groups. The results of this study were as follows : Treatment with Acanthopanax showed significantly increased(p<0.05) on the cell death apoptosis in crypt, intestine crypts survival of intestine in mice following low-dose(1Gy) Gamma-ray radiation. And that significantly increased(p<0.05) on jejunal crypt survival and reduced(p<0.05) on lipid peroxidation in mice following high-dose(1OGy) Gamma-ray radiation. The above results suggest that Acathopanax were immunostimulating effectively reduced Gamma-ray irradiation.

  • Let ${\gamma}$ be a hyperbolic closed orbit of a $C^1$ vector field X on a compact boundaryless Riemannian manifold M, and let $C_X({\gamma})$ be the chain component of X which contains ${\gamma}$. We say that $C_X({\gamma})$ is $C^1$ robustly shadowable if there is a $C^1$ neighborhood $\mathcal{U}$ of X such that for any $Y{\in}\mathcal{U}$, $C_Y({\gamma}_Y)$ is shadowable for $Y_t$, where ${\gamma}_Y$ denotes the continuation of ${\gamma}$ with respect to Y. In this paper, we prove that any $C^1$ robustly shadowable chain component $C_X({\gamma})$ does not contain a hyperbolic singularity, and it is hyperbolic if $C_X({\gamma})$ has no non-hyperbolic singularity.

For the operator $A_{\beta,\gamma} : K \longrightarrow H(U)$ defined by $$ A_{\beta,\gamma}(f)(z) = [\frac{z^\gamma}{\beta + \gamma} \int_{0}^{z} f^\beta (t)t^{\gamma-1} dt]^{1/\beta} $$ and $\beta,\gamma \in C$, we determined conditions on g(z), $\beta and \gamma$ such that $$ z[\frac{z}{f(z)]^\beta \prec z[\frac{z}{g(z)]^\beta implies z[\frac{z}{A_{\beta,\gamma}(f)(z)]^\beta \prec z[\frac{z}{A_{\beta,\gamma}(g)(z)]^\beta $$ and we presented some particular cases of our main result.

  • Glutathione(GSH),a tripeptide thiol, found in virtually all cells, functions in metabolism tranasport and cellular protection. It protects cells against the destructive effects of reactive oxygen intermediates and free radicals. Also ${\gamma}-Glutamyl$ transpeptidase(${\gamma}-GTT$), an enzyme of major importance in GSH metabolism, initiates GSH degradation. In order to explore the $GSH-{\gamma}-GTT$ system as periodontal disease activity indicator, we observed the ${\gamma}-GTT$ and arachidonic acid metabolits according to clinical groups(Control, Adult periodontitis, Rapidly progressive Periodontitis). From the experiments, the following results were obtained. 1. When compared with normal, ${\gamma}-GTT$ of A. P. and R. P. P. were increased, and only the change of ${\gamma}-GTT$ of R. P. P. was statistically significant(P<0. 05). 2. The amounts of arachidonic acid metabolites were not different with statistical significance among the clinical groups. 3. ${\gamma}-GTT$ may by useful adjuncts as new cytoprotective indicator and periodontal disease activity indicator in accordance with positive corelation pocket depth, attachment level and ${\gamma}-GTT$.

The Priming Effect of IFN-$\gamma$ and Numbers of IFN-$\gamma$ Receptors in Patients with Chronic Refractory Tuberculosis (난치성 결핵 환자의 단핵구에서 IFN-$\gamma$ 활성화 효과 및 IFN-$\gamma$ 수용체의 숫적 변화에 대한 연구)

  • Background: IFN-$\gamma$ plays an important role in host response to intracellular organisms such as mycobacterium. Human infection with mycobacterium leads to a wide variety of outcomes, ranging from asymptomatic infection to widespread and rapidly fatal disease. Recent reports suggest that alteration of the function of IFN-$\gamma$ caused by a defective IFN-$\gamma$ receptor gene can explain different host response to mycobacterium. In this study, we investigated the role of IFN-$\gamma$ in the development of chronic refractory tuberculosis. Methods: The LPS-induced TNF-$\alpha$ production with or without IFN-$\gamma$ priming was compared by using monocytes taken from recently diagnosed tuberculosis, chronic refractory tuberculosis patients and controls. And the IFN-$\gamma$ receptor was measured by indirect fluorescent antibody technique to know whether change in the priming effect of IFN-$\gamma$ is related to IFN-$\gamma$ receptor deficiency or not. Results: The ratio of TNF-$\alpha$ produced in response to stimulation with INF-$\gamma$ and LPS to LPS alone was $13.5{\pm}7.6$ in controls, $10.8{\pm}6.4$ in recently diagnosed tuberculosis patients and $6.7{\pm}3.9$ in chronic refractory tuberculosis patients. The priming effect of IFN-$\gamma$ significantly decreased in chronic refractory tuberculosis patients compared with that in controls(p=0.002). However, IFN-$\gamma$ receptor deficiency was detected in one of chronic refractory tuberculosis patients. Conclusion: The decrease of the priming effect of IFN-$\gamma$ may play an important role in the development of chronic refractory tuberculosis, and in some patients, this may be related to the IFN-$\gamma$ receptor deficiency.

  • In this paper, we introduce the notion of $g{\cdot}{\gamma}$-closed sets and study its basic properties. Also we introduce the notion of ${\gamma}-T_*$ spaces and investigate relationships among these spaces and ${\gamma}-T_i$ spaces (i = 0,1/2,1) due to Ogata [5].

Combinational Effect of Moist Heating and Gamma Irradiation on The Inactivation of Trypsin Inhibitory Activity in Soybean

  • The combinational effect of gamma irradiation and moist heating on the trypsin inhibitor activity (TIA) in soaked and dried soybeans was evaluated by measuring the inhibition using N-benzoyl-DL-arginine-p-nitroanilide (BAPNA) as substrate. Gamma irradiation significantly decreased the TIA level in soybean at doses above 5 kGy, and the $ID_{50}$ (the gamma irradiation dose required to reach 50% inhibition) value for TIA was 13.53 kGy. Soaking prior to gamma irradiation significantly lowered the $ID_{50}$ to 8.44 kGy, and the soaking process enhanced the efficiency to inactivate TIA by as much as 48%. When soaking prior to gamma irradiation was followed by subsequent mild heating ($60^{\circ}C$) process, the $IT_{50}$ (heating time required to reach the 50% inhibition of TIA) value at even 1 kGy (5.28 min) was greatly reduced by over 50% compared to the level for the no-soaking process. In addition, the activation energy of soaking prior to gamma irradiation at 1 kGy was 2.45 kcal/mole, which was also about 50% lower than the 5.10 kcal/mole of dried soybean gamma-irradiated. Based on these results, soaking prior to gamma irradiation is an effective method for TIA inhibition. Furthermore, a combination of two or more processing methods such as soaking, heating and gamma irradiation is much more effective than any single processing method.
