Tobacco plants grown in pots by sand culture for 70 days after transplanting were used to evaluate the sensing distance and measurement efficiency of ground-based remote sensors. The leaf distribution of tobacco plant and sensing distance from the sensors to the target leaves were controlled by two removal methods of leaves, top-down and bottom-up removal. In the case of top-down removal, the canopy reflectance was measured by the sensor located at a fixed position having an optimum distance from the detector to the uppermost leaf of tobacco every time that the higher leaves were one at a time. The measurement of bottom-up removal, a the other hand, was conducted in the same manner as that of the top-down removal except that the lower leaves were removed one by one. Canopy reflectance measurements were made with hand held spectral sensors including the active sensors such as $GreenSeeker^{TM}$ red and green, $Crop\;Circle\;ACS-210^{TM}$ red and amber, the passive sensors of $Crop\:Circle^{TM}$, and spectroradiometer $SD2000^{TM}$. The reflectance indices by all sensors were generally affected by the upper canopy condition rather than lower canopy condition of tobacco regardless of sensor type, passive or active. The reflectance measurement by $GreenSeeker^{TM}$ was affected sensitively at measurement distance longer than 120 cm, the upper limit of effective sensing distance, beyond which measurement errors are appreciable. In case of the passive sensors that has no upper limit of effective distance and $Crop\;Circle^{TM}(ACS210)$ that has the upper limit of effective sensing distance specified with 213 cm, longer than that of estimated distance, the measurement efficiency affected by the sensing distance showed no difference. This result suggests that it is necessary to use the sensor specified optimum distance. The result revealed that active sensors are more superior than their passive counterparts in establishing between the relative ratio of reflectance index and the dry weight of tobacco treated by top-down removal, and in the evaluation of biomass. $The\;Crop\;Circle\;ACS-210^{TM}$ red was proved to have the highest efficiency of measurement, followed by $Crop\;Circle^{TM}(ACS210)$ amber and $GreenSeeker^{TM}$ red, $Crop\;Circle^{TM}$ passive, $GreenSeeker^{TM}$ green, and spectroradiometer, in descending order.

The Green Wall system is one of segmental concrete crib type earth retaining wall. Green wall is constructed as procedures that lay the front stretchers, rear stretchers and headers then making a rigid body through harden filled soil of interior cell. Recently, Green Wall method is applied in variable cutting ground construction because of advantage which minimize to cut base ground. In case of Green Wall method is constructed with soil nail method, expect that total system stability will increase more than flexible facing because of facing stiffness is big. However, in this case of design, facing stiffness is not considered so that is poor economy. Hence, in this study, stability increasing effect of total system analyze about that soil nail method is constructed with rigidity facing like a Green Wall method. In present study, laboratory model tests was performed for analysis on stability increasing effect of total system about changing stiffness of facing. LEM analysis conducted for evaluation on safety factor of total system sliding that facing condition changed.
Objectives: Bacterial resistant infections have become a global health challenge and threaten the society's health. Thus, an urgent need exists to find ways to combat resistant pathogens. One promising approach to overcoming bacterial resistance is the use of herbal products. Green tea catechins, the major green tea polyphenols, show antimicrobial activity against resistant pathogens. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of catechins, green tea extract, and methylxanthines in combination with gentamicin against standard and clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and the standard strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa). Methods: The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values of different agents against bacterial strains were determined. The interactions of green tea extract, epigallate catechin, epigallocatechin gallate, two types of methylxanthine, caffeine, and theophylline with gentamicin were studied in vitro by using a checkerboard method and calculating the fraction inhibitory concentration index (FICI). Results: The MICs of gentamicin against bacterial strains were in the range of $0.312-320{\mu}g/mL$. The MIC values of both types of catechins were $62.5-250{\mu}g/mL$. Green tea extract showed insufficient antibacterial activity when used alone. Methylxanthines had no intrinsic inhibitory activity against any of the bacterial strains tested. When green tea extract and catechins were combined with gentamicin, the MIC values of gentamicin against the standard strains and a clinical isolate were reduced, and synergistic activities were observed (FICI < 1). A combination of caffeine with gentamicin did not alter the MIC values of gentamicin. Conclusion: The results of the present study revealed that green tea extract and catechins potentiated the antimicrobial action of gentamicin against some clinical isolates of S. aureus and standard P. aeruginosa strains. Therefore, combinations of gentamicin with these natural compounds might be a promising approach to combat microbial resistance.

Recently, the most important paradigm is to prepare future and to protect the environment through the carbon savings occurs in everyday life and whole industry. For the success of this new paradigm, Korean government encourages the green certification and the development of green technologies and green growth as one of the important policies are adopted and implemented. Public agencies and companies establish the plans about the carbon savings and implement a lot of research has moved on using IT technology. There are some attempts in Korea to use as an electronic document instead of the use of paper document using these green IT and mobile devices. In this paper, the waiting sequence system using mobile phone is proposed as an example of practical engineering education for 'Low carbon, Green growth'.
CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) between India and Korea may vitalize Korean economy more and more. Currently most of Korean firms have entered into manufacturing industries like electronics and automobiles. But only a few Korean companies are trying to penetrate into Indian green industry so this paper suggest how to enter into Indian green industry, especially renewable energy sectors. First, Exporting main shaft, tower-flange and polysilicon products can be considered, as a first step of entry mode. Second, entry mode based on contract like technology licensing, strategic alliance and joint venture establishment can be also one of options. For example, Korean solar energy industry which show more competitiveness than that of Indians should try to make technological licensing on PV modules. In addition to this, they should also try to make joint ventures with right Indian partners and build up 'Solar City' nearby regions like Gurgaon in India where many Korean firms are located. Korean shipbuilding firms like Hyundai Engineering which keep on developing wind turbo engines can also try to make strategic alliance with Indian firms like Suzlon which has strong competitiveness. After that, they should explore Korean and Indian wind sector markets together. Third, brownfield investment can be last and final option as a entry mode as we consider the peculiar characteristics of renewable energy industry. Lastly, Korean government which are rush to indulge into green business should formulate more proper and realistic policies to give big incentives the concerned firms which are trying to open international green market so government should make Korean green firms not to lose good market opportunities related to green industry like renewable energy sectors. Renewable energy sectors are basically regarded as infrastructures so close contact to Indian central government as well as state government will be also required.
This study focuses on the university dormitory remodeled toward energy efficiency. The study has its purpose on deriving the aspects to be concerned for later green remodeling and enhancing the effects of green remodeling, by analyzing the changes of physical environment, changes of energy consumption amount, and needs of the residents. For this purpose, the study went through the review of project report from government office for green remodeling, field investigation of remodeling elements, and the occupancy evaluation by Focus Group Interview. FGI means interviewing small group of the residents who lived in the subjected dormitories both before and after the remodeling. As results, the elements of green remodeling in targeted dormitories were inner wall insulation, top-floor ceiling insulation, replacement of windows, installment of automatic entrance door and making transfer space connected the entrance door. As the parts of equipment system, EHP high-efficiency cooler, highly efficient radiator, upgraded LED lightings with covers, and automatic control system (only one building) were installed. Energy consumption was declined, and the satisfaction of residents was increased after the green remodeling. However, the aspects which were not improved or unsatisfying also have been detected. Therefore, the study states the suggestions each for the administrators, designers and planners, and residents to concern for enhancing the effects of green remodeling or construction of new dormitories.
Korean agriculture has recently focused on the 6th dimension of industrialization, which includes the functions of healing and care. The green care and healing business is one of the most representative models, satisfying modern consumers' needs for care or healing in rural agricultural environments. Many studies have shown physical and social benefits from green care and healing, but studies regarding economic performance are rarely found. The present study aimed to analyze the economic feasibility of different green care and healing farm complexes proposed in recent domestic research, with various possible combinations of business scenarios. The results show that most of the scenarios are economically feasible as B/C (benefit-cost ratio) and IRR (internal rate of return) are 1.19 and 8.53%, respectively, under scenario 1. This study also performed a break-even analysis for providing more flexible decision-making information. Overall, scenario 1 from green care and healing site and scenario 4 from green care and healing cluster are found to be superior to the other scenarios in terms of B/C and IRR. The scenarios in this study reflect the domestic farms or complexes which have similar functions of care or healing. Therefore, the results of this study provide information on practical policies and business implications in making decisions on the specific size and operational patterns when adopting green care and healing complexes by central or local governments and private sectors in the future.
In the analysis of the foreign cases on the use of Transit Signal Priority(TSP), the reduction in bus travel time ranged from 6 to $32\%$. This study demonstrates how TSP can be applied to Ulsan Metropolitan City. TSP techniques were used on the bus routes that run eastward for 4.07 kilometers along Munsoo-Ro, a major artery in the most congested part of the city. The simulation was performed on one hour of peak traffic time, using the two TSP strategies of Early Green and Extended Green. The use of the Early Green strategy resulted in an average decrease in travel time ranging from 18.1 to $25.8\%$ and an increase in average travel speed ranging from 30.9 to $40.1\%$. The Extended Green strategy resulted in an average decrease in travel time ranging from 18.1 to $30.3\%$ and an increase in an average travel speed of approximately $30.1\%$. This study demonstrates that TSP is effective in decreasing travel time and increasing travel speed of the bus system in Korea.

The Highway Capacity Manual(HCM) suggests estimating the average green time for the performance evaluation of the traffic actuated operation and Provides the average green time estimation model. However, the model provides with much room for improvements. This document proposes a new analytical model that overcomes the shortage of the HCM model. The average green times estimated by the HCM model and the proposed model were compared. A computer program using the proposed model was coded for the study, while the ACT348 program was used for the implementation of the HCM model Through the comparison study based on the 1,196 hypothetical simulation data surrogating field data, it was found that the average green times estimated by the proposed model yields much nicer one-to-one linear relationship to the simulation results than the ones from the HCM model in both exclusive-only and shared-permitted cases. The R2 values of the proposed and the HCM models with those cases are 0.90 and 0.56, and 0.86 and 0.57, respectively.

The purpose of this paper is the development of measurement algorithm for green-sheet based on the digital image processing technique. The Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic (LTCC) technology can be defined as a way to produce multilayer circuits with the help of single tapes, which are used to apply conductive, dielectric and / or resistive pastes on. These single green-sheets have to be laminated together and fired in one step all. Main functionality of the green-sheet film measurement algorithm is to measure the position and size of the punching hole in each single layer. The line scan camera coupled with motorized X-Y stage is used for developing the algorithm. In order to measure the entire film area using several scanning steps, the overlapping method is used. In the process of development of the algorithm based on the image processing and analysis, strong background technology and know-how have been accumulated.
