Air pollutants nitrogen oxides are inevitably generated in the combustion reaction. Its amount trend is steadily increasing because the rapid modern industrialization and population growth. For this reason, NOx is controlled to reducing the harmful components in the exhaust gas. So Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) take effect 'Tier I', 'Tier II' of air pollution regulation in 2005 and 2011 respectively. According to NOx emissions are strictly regulated management of the vessel through them. In addition, since 2016 the regulation enter into force in the next step 'Tier III' was confirmed by MEPC 66th committee. It's 80% enhanced emissions limits than the 'Tier I' Alternatively these emission regulation, research is actively being carried out about exhaust gas after-treatment methods through the vessel application of Selective Catalytic Reduction(SCR). Therefore depending on the basic specification of cell density according to the Area velocity, Space velocity, Linear velocity is studied the effects of NOx removal efficiency

This study experimentally investigated the effects of droplet temperature on the heat transfer characteristics during collision of a single droplet on a heated wall above the Leidenfrost temperature. Experiments were performed by varying temperature from 40 to $100^{\circ}C$ while the collision velocity and wall temperature were maintained constant at 0.7 m/s at $500^{\circ}C$, respectively. Evolution of temperature distribution at the droplet-wall interface as well as collision dynamics of the droplet were simultaneously recorded using synchronized high-speed video and infrared cameras. The local heat flux distribution at the collision surface was deduced using the measured temperature distribution data. Various physical parameters, including residence time, local heat flux distribution, heat transfer rate, heat transfer effectiveness and vapor film thickness, were measured from the visualization data. The results showed that increase in droplet temperature reduces the residence time and increases the vapor film thickness. This ultimately results in reduction in the total heat transfer by conduction through the vapor film during droplet-wall collision.

In this study digital holographic microscopy system for measurements of 3-D velocities of particles in MR fluid is developed. Holograms are recorded using either a CCD camera with a double pulse laser or a high-speed camera with a continuous laser. To process recorded holograms, the correlation coefficient method is used for focal plane determination of particles. To remove noise and improve the quality of holograms and reconstructed images, a Wiener filter is adopted. The two-threshold and image segmentation methods are used for binary image transformation. For particle pairing, the match probability method is adopted. The developed system will be applied to measurements of the characteristics of unsteady 3-D particle velocities in MR fluids through the next stage of this study.

The effect of pilot injection quantity on the combustion and emissions characteristics of a compression ignition engine with a biodiesel-compressed natural gas (CNG) dual fuel combustion (DFC) system is studied in this work. Biodiesel is used as a pilot injection fuel to ignite the main fuel, CNG of DFC. The pilot injection quantity is controlled to investigate the characteristics of combustion and exhaust emissions in a single cylinder diesel engine. The injection pressure and injection timing of pilot fuel are maintained at approximately 120 MPa and BTDC 17 crank angle, respectively. Results show that the indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) of biodiesel-CNG DFC mode is similar to that of diesel-CNG DFC mode at all load conditions. Combustion stability of biodiesel-CNG DFC mode decreased with increase of engine load, but no notable trend of cycle-to-cycle variations with increase of pilot injection quantity is discovered. The combustion of biodiesel-CNG begins at a retarded crank angle compared to that of diesel-CNG at low load, but it is advanced at high loads. Smoke and NOx of biodiesel-CNG are simultaneously increased with the increase of pilot fuel quantity. Compared to the diesel-CNG DFC, however, smoke and NOx emissions are slightly reduced over all operating conditions. Biodiesel-CNG DFC yields higher $CO_2$ emissions compared to diesel-CNG DFC over all engine conditions. CO and HC emissions for biodiesel-CNG DFC is decreased with the increase of pilot injection quantity.

Main purpose of the current paper is to show results of time lag analysis using phase information of flame transfer function in order to predict combustion instabilities in a gas turbine combustor. The flame transfer function (FTF) is modeled using a commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code (Fluent). Comparisons of the modeled flame shapes with the measured ones were made using the optimized heat transfer conditions and combustion models. The FTF modeling results show a quite good agreement with the measurement data in predicting the phase delay (i.e. time lag). Time lag analysis results using the phase of FTF shows better combustion instability prediction accuracy than using time lag calculated from the steady state flame length.

This paper experimentally reports the effect of suspension stability on the thermal conductivity of water-based Au nanofluids. For this purpose, the water-based Au nanofluids are prepared by the one-step method called electro-chemical method with volume fraction of 0.0005%. The thermal conductivity of water-based Au nanofluids is measured from $22^{\circ}C$ to $42^{\circ}C$ using the transient hot wire method. To quantify the suspension stability of Au nanofluids, the suspension stability of nanofluids is evaluated using the in-house developed laser scattering system at a fixed wavelength of 632.8nm with the elapsed time. Based on the experimental results, the both thermal conductivity and suspension stability of water-based Au nanofluids are gradually decreased according to the time. These results experimentally show that the suspension stability of water-based Au nanofluids is the one of the important factor of thermal conductivity.
