Direct Drive Valves (DDV) with electric closed loop spool position control are suitable for electrohydraulic position, velocity, pressure or force control systems including those with high dynamic response requirements. The spool drive device is a permanent magnet linear force motor which can actively stroke the spool from its spring centered position in both directions. This basic study is carried out to drive the design parameters for developing a domestic DDV. The static and dynamic characteristics of DDV are examined. The simulation results are compared with data of manufacture's catalog to show the validity of the modelling.

The poppet valve had used every field area due to high quality of leakage property and response characteristic. But this valve still has terrible disadvantage that is self-exited vibration. This problem affects stability of total system and raises noise. The researcher tries to reduce that self-exited vibration when valve was designed. The stability discriminant is the typical study to improve the performance of the poppet valve. This paper concerns about stability discriminant that uses poppet valve with a drain orifice. At the first, the mathematical model is computed from poppet valve. After that, the limitation of stability is calculated that based on Nyquist criterion. At the final, the stability discriminant is selected in each condition and the graph that shows stability in the system is drown by dimensionless quantity.

A geortor type pump is widely used in lubrication and actuator systems. Especially the pump is an essential machine element of an automotive engine to feed lubrication oil and power source of automatic transmission. A gerotor is a planar mechanism consist of a pair of rotor and circular tooth of stator assembly which forms a closed space. However, related industries do not have necessary technology to design and optimize the pump and paid royalties of gerotor profile on an advanced company. Also, gerotor profiles with setting design parameter have not been sufficiently analyzed from a theoretical view. Therefore, it is very difficult for designer to decide the specifications of the gerotor profiles, and calculation and fluctuation of flow rate is not yet confirmed. In this study, theoretical analyses and optimal design of the gerotor profiles have been performed numerical method by mathematical base. An automated design system of the tooth profile has been developed through MATLAB GUI Program considering various design parameters.

As for an oil hydraulic vane pump of vehicle hydraulic systems, the highest of planning technique required by the acquisition of optimum profile data which can be available to predict noises and vibrations. Pressure pulsation may result in considerable vibration and noise of pump component as well as cavitation in hydraulic system. The influences of the discharge pressure and rotating speed of the vane on the dynamic pressure in chamber surrounding a vane have been investigated. It is very important to predict pressure pulsation in vane pump. This paper presents analysis of technique of vane pump for automatic transmission. The predicted result using AMESim model were good agreement with the experimentally obtained results.

It is hard and complex to analytically derive a volumetric displacement formula of a gerotor hydraulic motor because geometric shape of its rotors is complicate. An analytical method about the volumetric displacement is proposed in this work, which is relatively easy and based upon two physical concepts. The first one is energy conservation between hydraulic input energy of the motor and mechanical output energy. The second concept is torque equilibrium with respect to inner and outer rotors. The proposed formula about the volumetric displacement is verified by comparing an analytical displacement and a numerical displacement for an example specification of the motor. The numerical displacement is calculated through a kind of CAD technology. The analytical formula can be utilized in analysis and design of hydraulic gerotor motors.

A series hydraulic hybrid vehicle(SHHV) concept has been explored as a potential pathway to an ultra-efficient city vehicle. Improvements in SHHV fuel economy with reduced emissions strongly depend on their supervisory control strategy. Thermostatic control is simple and reliable but it's cause of frequent engine on-off. Therefore, power follower strategy is presented. In this paper, thermostatic control strategy and power follower strategy is compared for the SHHV model developed using AMESim.

Simulator is a development equipment which enables the ECU to operate in normal mode by simulating the interface signal between ECU and mechanical system electrically. Embedded simulator means simulation function is embedded in ECU firmware, hence the electrical signal interface is replaced by the substitution of information at system program level. This paper explains the development of embedded transmission simulator for the verification of TCU firmware function which covers shifting control and on-board diagnosis. The embedded simulation program is executed in TCU processor along with the TCU firmware and it provides TCU firmware with not only the speed information those are appropriate both in driving and shifting conditions, but also the fault detection signals. Experimental results show that the validity of embedded simulator and its usefulness to the TCU firmware development and verification.

Field robot represented by excavator can be applied for various working in manufacturing, construction, agriculture etc. Because of the flexibility of its multi-joint mechanism and the high power of hydraulic actuators. Since the excavator operates in the hazardous working circumstance, operators exposed in harmful environment. Therefore, automation system has been investigated to protect from the harmful environment. In this paper, the method to construct the remote control system is proposed. The remote control system is consisted of a manual and auto mode. Manual mode controls a hydraulic cylinder as open loop control. and auto mode controls the end effecter of excavator using tracking control system. The efficiency of remote control system was evaluated through the field test.

A punched pipe in a muffler for an automobile has many important variables, like location of holes in the pipe and length of the pipe related to noise reduction of a diffuser. This pipe is cut depending on length of product and this process, generally workers cut pipes by hands. In this process, there are many errors and it relies on the skill of workers, so it can happen that cycle time for complete product gets long and productivity gets low. Therefore, we need a vision system to distinguish holes in the punched pipe and a transfer system to set the cutting position automatically by moving the pipe depending on forward and backward part of the holes. This paper explains the development of an automatic transfer device which will cause the beating pipe to be cut correctly, exactly the same length as the product.

In order to provide theoretical analysis for the active roll stabilizer (ARS), the simulation model based on AMESim is developed in the paper. The simplified vehicle rolling motion model is derived firstly, and then the entire ARS control system model is constructed. Furthermore, the simulation is implemented to confirm the roll control effect. The simulation results show that the derived model can be used as theoretical analysis for developing components of ARS control system.

This paper deals with the issue of motion control of a single rod cylinder-load system using simple adaptive control (SAC) method. Prior to controller design, the experiment of open-loop response has been performed. Based on it, design parameters of transfer function are obtained. The effect of parallel feedforward compensator has been investigated by computer simulation, suppressing the oscillatory motion. Through experiments it is conformed that the SAC method gives good tracking performance compared to the PD control method.

The typical hydraulic hoisting system of the rack-bar type sluice gate is composed of a hydraulic supply unit using an uni-directional pump, a direction control valve, a hydraulic motor, a counter balance valve, and flow control valves. Here, the hydrostatic transmission is applied to the hoisting system of rack-bar type sluice gate to simplify the operation of gate such that the upward and downward direction of gate is simply controlled by the direction of pump rotation. The new hydraulic hoisting system is composed of a bi-directional pump, a hydraulic motor, a counter balance valve, two check valves, two pilot-operated check valves, two relief valves and a shuttle valve. The characteristics of a suggested system are analyzed by computer simulations and experiments.

Wheel skids may occur during train operations due to low adhesion at the wheel-rail contact point abnormally, and the skids, in turn, result in flats appearing on the wheels, which affect safety and ride comfort significantly. Thus, anti-skid control has a crucial role for safe braking and prevention from flats that could cause a disastrous train accident. This paper presents simulation studies on an anti-skid control unit (ASCU) with a brake system of a rolling stock including a pneumatic model for brake power supply and dump valve operation.

Nonlinear seal friction in pneumatic cylinders can impede the performance of pneumatic systems designed for high precision positioning with favorable high speed actuation. The behaviour of an elastomeric piston seal in high speed pneumatic cylinders is analysed by nonlinear finite element analysis using ABAQUS. The contact pressures, stress and strain distributions and frictional forces of the piston seal are simulated with variation of interference fits, supply pressures, friction coefficients and piston rod velocities. The nonlinear finite element model of the piston seal is used to predict deformation of a seal, friction force and contact pressure distributions.

In this study, a MR(Magneto-rheological) brake to obtain high torque-to-size ratio instead of conventional powder brake is presented for high-tension control of converting machinery such as coater, slitter and so on. First, to obtain the higher performance than conventional powder brake, a MR brake with a modified rotor shape is newly designed and analyzed by using electromagnetic field analysis. Second, a prototype of the MR brake is fabricated with the optimized structural parameters and an experimental apparatus is constructed. Finally, basic characteristics between current and torque are experimentally investigated.

In this study, a novel hydraulic energy-regenerative system was presented from its proposal through its modeling to its control. The system was based on a closed-loop hydrostatic transmission and used a hydraulic accumulator as the energy storage system in a novel configuration to recover the kinetic energy without any reversion of the fluid flow. The displacement variation in the secondary unit was reduced, which widened the uses of several types of hydraulic pump/motors for the secondary unit. The proposed system was modeled based on its physical attributes. Simulation and experiments were performed to evaluate the validity of the employed mathematical model and the energy recovery potential of the system. The experimental results indicated that the round trip recovery efficiency varied from 22% to 59% for the test bench.
