NH4+Y-zeolite의 개질을 통한 벤젠 흡·탈착 성능 증진 연구 (A Study on the Modification of NH4+Y-zeolite for Improving Adsorption/Desorption Performance of Benzene)

  • 활성탄(activated carbon, A.C)은 휘발성 유기화합물(volatile organic compounds, VOCs) 제거를 위해 가장 많이 사용되고 있지만 흡/탈착 시 열화현상으로 인한 화재위험성, 잦은 교체 주기로 인한 비용 부담, 수분에 의한 성능 저하 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 소수성 제올라이트 흡착제가 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소수성 개질법 중 하나인 수증기처리 및 산 처리를 통해 $NH_4{^+}Y$-zeolite를 소수성 Y-zeolite로 합성하여 높은 표면적, 열적 안정성과 습도저항성을 확보하고자 하였다. Y-zeolite와 개질된 Y-550-HN, Y-600-HN, Y-650-HN의 흡착성능은 23, 38, 77, $61mg\;g^{-1}$으로 나타났으며, 소수성 개질 정도를 확인할 수 있는 지표인 Si/Al ratio 변화를 XRF 분석으로 확인하였다. 그 결과, Y-zeolite를 개질하였을 때 흡착성능이 증진되었고, Si/Al 비는 Y, Y-550-HN, Y-600-HN, Y-650-HN 순으로 각각 3.1765, 6.6706, 7.3079, 7.4635 임을 확인하였다. 반면에 높은 열처리 온도에 의한 구조적 결정화가 성능 저하에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 확인하였다. 반면에 Y-zeolite의 최적 열처리 온도가 존재하며, 이와 같은 최적 개질 조건 연구는 높은 내구성과 안정성을 갖는 흡착제를 제조할 수 있는 조건으로써 향후 활성탄을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 판단하였다.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation Studies of Zeolite A. Ⅵ. Vibrational Motion of Non-Rigid Zeolite-A Framework

  • In the present paper, we report a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation of non-rigid zeolite-A framework only as the base case for a consistent study of the role of intraframework interaction on several zeolite-A systems using the same technique in our previous studies of rigid zeolite-A frameworks. Usual bond stretching, bond angle bending, torsional rotational, and non-bonded Lennard-Jones and electrostatic interactions are considered as intraframework interaction potentials. The comparison of experimental and calculated structural parameters confirms the validity of our MD simulation for zeolite-A framework. The radial distribution functions of non-rigid zeolite-A framework atoms characterize the vibrational motion of the framework atoms. Mean square displacements are all periodic with a short period of 0.08 ps and a slow change in the amplitude of the vibration with a long period of 0.53 ps. The displacement auto-correlation (DAC) and neighbor-correlation (DNC) functions describe the up-and-down motion of the framework atoms from the center of α-cage and the back-and-forth motion on each ring window from the center of each window. The DAC and DNC functions of the framework atoms from the center of α-cage at the 8-ring windows have the same period of the up-and-down motion, but those functions from the center of 8-ring window at the 8-ring windows are of different periods of the back-and-forth motion.

FA-Zeolite A 및 X에 의한 수용액 중 양이온성 제초제의 흡착 (Adsorption of Divalent Cationic Herbicides from Aqueous Solution by FA-zeolite A and X)

  • The purpose of this study is to elucidate the adsorption properties of fly ash (FA)-derived zeolites A and X for the divalent cationic herbicides, paraquat and diquat. Their adsorption isotherms were well fitted to the Langmuir equation, indicating that adsorption mainly occurred on the crystal surface. FA-zeolite X showed a higher adsorption capacity than that of FA-zeolite A due to wide pore window size in spite of its low CEC. The equilibrium adsorption increased with increasing the reaction temperature because of the enhanced molecule activity and the thermal expansion of zeolite pore windows. Overall, these results demonstrated that the FA-zeolite synthesized from fly ash could be used as a low-cost mineral adsorbent for the removal of environmental cationic organic pollutants from the aqueous solution.

Zeolite-Mediated Cation Exchange Enhances the Stability of mRNA during Cell-Free Protein Synthesis

  • The addition of zeolite particles enhances the stability of mRNA molecules in a cell-free protein synthesis system. When $20{\mu}g/{\mu}L$ of zeolite (Y5.4) is added to a reaction mixture of cell-free protein synthesis, a substantial increase in protein synthesis is observed. The stabilizing effect of zeolite is most dearly observed in an in vitro translation reaction directed by purified mRNA, as opposed to a coupled transcription and translation reaction. Upon the addition of zeolite in the in vitro translation reaction, the life span of the mRNA molecules is substantially extended, leading to an 80% increase in protein synthesis. The effect of zeolite upon the mRNA stability appears be strongly related to the cation exchange (potassium to sodium) reaction. Our results demonstrate the possibility of modifying this biological process using heterogeneous, non-biological substances in a cell-free protein synthesis system.

화력발전소 비산회를 이용한 제올라이트합성 (Synthesis of zeolite from power plant fly ash)

  • A study on the synthesis of zeolite from bituminous coal ESP fly ash as a raw material, which was emitted from the power plant, was carried out to reduce environmental problems and reuse of the industrial wastes. Bituminous coal fly ash was used as the source of silica and alumina. Zeolite was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction in aqueous NaOH solution with sodium aluminate as additive. The objective of this study is to elucidate the effect of several experimental variables on the synthesis of zeolite. The effects of preroasting temperature, mixing speed, leaching alkalinity, and molar ratio of Na$_{2}$O/SiO$_{2}$ and SiO$_{2}$/Al$_{2}$O of the products were investigated. The synthesized zeolite was proved to be NaA, which is known as 4A type, by comparing with SEM images, and X-ray diffraction analysis. And also we know that the transformation of zeolite A take places into other types of zeolites, i.e. Hydroxysodalite, zeolite P, with the variation of leaching alkalinity.

PEBAX-NaY zeolite 복합막에 의한 기체($H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$) 분리에 관한 연구 (Separation of Gases ($H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$) by PEBAX-NaY Zeolite Composite Membranes)

  • PEBAX[poly(ether-block-amide)]-NaY zeolite 복합막에 대한 $H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$의 투과도와 선택도에 대하여 연구하였다. PEBAX-NaY zeolite 복합막에 대한 $H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$ 투과도는 막 내의 NaY zeolite 함량이 증가할수록 $H_2$의 투과도는 증가하였고, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$의 투과도는 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. PEBAX-NaY zeolite 복합막 내의 NaY zeolite 함량이 증가함에 따라 $N_2$에 대한 $H_2$$CO_2$의 선택도, $CO_2$에 대한 $H_2$의 선택도, 그리고 $CH_4$에 대한 기체 선택도는 증가하였고, 그외의 $H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$에 대한 기체($H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$, $CH_4$)의 선택도는 감소하였다. 그리고 각 기체들에 대한 가장 높은 선택도는 $CO_2$인 경우에 얻어졌고, $H_2$, $N_2$, $CH_4$에 대한 $CO_2$의 선택도 값은 12~156이었다.

국산 Bentonite의 수산화나트륨 수용액 처리에 의한 결정의 변화 (On Crystallization of Korean Bentonite Treated with Aqueous Sodium Hyeroxide Solution)

  • 우리나라 영일산 Bentonite를 0.5-6 N NaOH로 $70-90^{\circ}C$에서 $Na_2:SiO_2$의 비율로 $1:1{\sim}4:1$로 2-30일의 범위에서 처리하여 그 겨정성의 변화를 X선회절법으로 조사하였다. 그 결과 2N NaOH로 $70^{\circ}C$에서 Zeolite Species가 좋은 수율로 생성되었다. 그러나 NaOH의 농도가 더 크고 온도가 더 높으면 이 Zeolite는 Hydrozysodalite로 변한다. 이 결정 외에도 처리조건에 따라서는 raujasite, sodium A zeolite, mordemite등의 결정도 소량 생겼다.

NaX zeolite의 결정성장에서 seed 첨가에 따른 영향 (The effect of seeding on crystal growth of NaX zeolite)

  • NaX zeolite 결정을 성장시키기 위하여 ${4.12{Na}_{2}O{\cdot}{Al}_{2}{O}_{3}{\cdot}3.5{SiO}_{2}{\cdot}593{H}_{2}O$의 몰비를 가진 모액에 합성된 NaX powder(1~2$\mu\textrm{m}$)를 seed를 첨가하였다. 그 결과 초기 혼합물에 seed를 첨가하므로 결정화 시간을 감소시킬수 있었으며, 결정의 크기도 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 결정화 시간을 증가시키면 NaX zeolite 결정은 보다 안정한 NaP zeolite와 또 다른 상으로의 전이가 발생하였다. 본 연구에서 우리는 이러한 결과에 대해서 XRD, SEM, FT-IR과 BET을 이용하여 상세하게 연구하였다.

제주 스코리아로부터 합성한 제올라이트 물질에 의한 암모니아성 질소의 흡착 특성 (Adsorption Characteristics of Ammonia-Nitrogen by Zeolitic Materials Synthesized from Jeju Scoria)

  • The characteristics of ammonia-nitrogen (NH4+-N) adsorption by a zeolitic material synthesized from Jeju scoria using the fusion and hydrothermal method was studied. The synthetic zeolitic material (Z-SA) was identified as a Na-A zeolite by X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence analysis and scanning electron microscopy images. The adsorption of NH4+-N using Jeju scoria and different types of zeolite such as the Z-SA, natural zeolite, and commercial pure zeolite (Na-A zeolite, Z-CS) was compared. The equilibrium of NH4+-N adsorption was reached within 30 min for Z-SA and Z-CS, and after 60 min for Jeju scoria and natural zeolite. The adsorption capacity of NH4+-N increased with approaching to neutral when pH was in the range of 3-7, but decreased above 7. The removal efficiency of NH4+-N increased with increasing Z-SA dosage, however, its adsorption capacity decreased. For initial NH4+-N concentrations of 10-200 mg/L at pH 7, the adsorption rate of NH4+-N was well described by the pseudo second-order kinetic model than the pseudo first-order kinetic model. The adsorption isotherm was well fitted by the Langmuir model. The maximum uptake of NH4+-N obtained from the Langmuir model decreased in the order of Z-CS (46.8 mg/g) > Z-SA (31.3 mg/g) > natural zeolite (5.6 mg/g) > Jeju scoria (0.2 mg/g).
