Narrow gap welding has many advantages over conventional V-grooved butt welding such as high productivity, small deformation and improved mechanical property of joints. With narrower groove gap, less arc heat input is expected will all the other advantages of narrow gap welding. The main defects of narrow gap welding include the lack of root fusion, convex bead surface and irregular surface, all of which have negative effects on the next welding pass. This paper suggests an up-and-down torch oscillation for ultra narrow gap welding with gap size of 5mm and investigates the proper welding conditions to fulfill the reliable and high welding quality. First, GMA welding model was suggested for ultra narrow gap welding system with Halmoy's model referenced for wire melting modeling. And the arc length in ultra narrow gap was defined. Secondly, based on the experimental results of up-and-down torch oscillation welding, phase shift of current and wire extension length were simulated for varying oscillation frequency to show that weld the bead shape in ultra narrow gap welding can be predicted. As the result, it was confirmed that reliable weld quality in ultra narrow gap welding can be achieved with up-and-down torch oscillation above 15Hz due to its ability to provide uniform heat input along the sidewall of gap.
In this paper, we ecamined the effect that MCM-L technique influencess on the design and fabrication of multichip memory modules in increasing the packing desity of memory capacity and maximizing its electrical characteristics. For that purpose, we examined the effective methods of reducing the area of module layout and the wiring length with the variation of chip allocation and the number of wiring layers. We fabricated a 256K${\times}$8bit SRAM module with eight 32K${\times}$8bit SRAM chips. The routing experiment showed that we could optimize the area of module layout and wiring length by placing chips in a row, arranging module I/O pads parallel to chip I/O pads, and equalizing the number of terminal sides of module I/O's to that of chip I/O's. The routing was optimized when we used three wire layers in case of one sided chip mounting or five wire layers in case of double sided chip mounting. The fabricated modules showed 18.9 cm/cm$^{2}$ in wiring density, 65 % in substrate occupancy efficiency, and module substrate and functionally tested to find out the module working perfectly.

Two turbulent jet with different sinusoidal nozzle exit configurations of in-phase and $180^{\circ}$ out-of-phase were investigated experimentally using a smoke-wire method and a hot-wire anemometry. Mean velocity and turbulence intensity were measured at several downstream locations under $Re_D\;=\;5000$. For the case of in-phase nozzle configuration, the length of potential core exhibits negligible difference with respect to the transverse locations (0, $\lambda/4$ and $\lambda/2$), similar to that of a plane jet. On the other hand, a maximum difference of 30% in the potential-core length occurs for the $180^{\circ}$ out-of-phase configuration. The spatial distributions of turbulence intensities also show significant difference for the nozzle of $180^{\circ}$ out-of-phase, whereas non-symmetric distribution is observed in the near-exit region(x/D = 1) for the in-phase sinusoidal nozzle jet. Compared to a slit planc jet, the sinusoidal nozzle jets seem to suppress the velocity deficit as the flow goes downstream. The sinusoidal nozzle jet was found to decrease turbulent intensity dramatically. The flow visualization results show that the flow characteristics of the sinusoidal nozzle jet are quite different from those of the slit plane jet.
High charge state electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source is important on the performance of heavy ion accelerators. In this paper, a low temperature superconductor (LTS) was used to make a hexapole coil for an 18-GHz ECR ion source. Several hexapole structures, including racetrack, graded racetrack, and saddle were implemented and analyzed for the hexapole-in-solenoid ECR ion source system. Under the appropriate radial confinement field, the smaller outer radius of hexapole can be better for the solenoid design. Saddle hexapole was selected by comparing the wire length, maximum outer radius of the hexapole, the Lorentz force at the end part of the hexapole and the maximum magnetic field in the coil. Based on saddle hexapole, a new design for hexapoles, the snake hexapole, was developed in this paper. By comparative analysis of the Lorentz force at the end part of the saddle and snake hexapoles, the snake hexapole is much better in the ECR ion source system. The suggested design for the ECR ion source with the snake hexapole is presented in this paper.
Helical magneto-cumulative generators(MCGs) are devices which convert explosive energy into electromagnetic energy. The electromagnetic energy supplied from an external circuit is amplified by an explosively driven metal conductor mounted at the center of a helical coil compressing magnetic flux between the conductor and the coil. To optimize the coil design, output properties of small-size helical MCGs were measured while varying design parameters; the number of coil sections, length of the sections, pitch in the sections, and type of copper wire. Dimensions of the coil were kept constant, 50 mm in diameter and 200 mm in length. The coil was fabricated by using enamel-coated copper wire of 1 mm in diameter. The highest energy amplification ratio and figure of merit were 52.5 and 0.81, respectively. from an helical MCG with initial inductance of 63.7 $\mu$H at initial energy of 0.152 kJ Based on the experimental and calculated results, empirical formulas capable of optimizing coil designs were derived. By using these formulas, pitch in each coil section can be obtained at an arbitrary inductive load for high energy amplification ratio and figure of merit.
This paper studies the influence of parameters of a novel SMA helical spring energy dissipation brace on the seismic resistance of a frame structure. The force-displacement relationship of the SMA springs is established mathematically based on a multilinear constitutive model of the SMA material. Four SMA helical springs are fabricated, and the force-displacement relationship curves of the SMA springs are obtained via tension tests. A numerical dynamic model of a two-floor frame with spring energy dissipation braces is constructed and evaluated via vibration table tests. Then, two spring parameters, namely, the ratio of the helical spring diameter to the wire diameter and the pre-stretch length, are selected to investigate their influences on the seismic responses of the frame structure. The simulation results demonstrate that the optimal ratio of the helical spring diameter to the wire diameter can be found to minimize the absolute acceleration and the relative displacement of the frame structure. Meanwhile, if the pre-stretch length is assigned a suitable value, excellent vibration reduction performance can be realized. Compared with the frame structure without braces, the frames with spring braces exhibit highly satisfactory seismic resistance performance under various earthquake waves. However, it is necessary to select an SMA spring with optimal parameters for realizing optimal vibration reduction performance.
Zinc oxide(ZnO) micro/nanocrystals are grown via thermal evaporation of ZnO powder mixed with Mn powder, which is used as a reducing agent. The ZnO/Mn powder mixture produces ZnO micro/nanocrystals with diverse morphologies such as rods, wires, belts, and spherical shapes. Rod-shaped ZnO micro/nanocrystals, which have an average diameter of 360 nm and an average length of about $12{\mu}m$, are fabricated at a temperature as low as $800^{\circ}C$ due to the reducibility of Mn. Wire-and belt-like ZnO micro/nanocrystals with length of $3{\mu}m$ are formed at $900^{\circ}C$ and $1,000^{\circ}C$. When the growth temperature is $1,100^{\circ}C$, spherical shaped ZnO crystals having a diameter of 150 nm are synthesized. X-ray diffraction patterns reveal that ZnO had hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure. A strong ultraviolet emission peak and a weak visible emission band are observed in the cathodoluminescence spectra of the rod- and wire-shaped ZnO crystals, while visible emission is detected for the spherical shaped ZnO crystals.
This study provides basic reference data for brassiere wearing conditions, design preferences of new silver women (50s-60s) and development of brassiere products. We compiled and compared 163 pieces of brassiere (considering of 105 domestic general brassieres and 58 foreign silver brassieres) analyzed using SPSS Statistics 21 program. A survey was then conducted on the actual wearing, purchasing conditions, design preferences for 176 females (50s-60s). The result of this study are as follows: First, comparing actual product conditions (domestic general products and foreign silver products), the ratio of full cup in cup height, V-shape type in neckline shape, long type in front-end length, wide type in wing width, U-shape type in shoulder strap form, wide type in shoulder strap width, no-wire brassieres in breast wire type, all-in-one type in shoulder strap separation, back type in closure type appeared higher than other types of brassiere in domestic general product. Second, a study also showed that 60s women's wearing time is lower than 50s women's; however, 60s women expressed a higher figure and preference for the purchasing ratio in the department store, full cup in cup height, short type in length of brassieres, wide type in wing width, U-shape in shoulder strap form, small type in shoulder strap width, back type in closure type and no-wire brassieres than those in their 50s. It was found they prefer fabric with a high natural content, nude tone color without decoration & pattern and camisole brassieres.
Pipe inside clad welding is mainly used to the flow pipe of sub-sea or chemical plant. For the inside clad welding to the medium pipe with the diameter of about 12", TIG welding is frequently applied with filler metal. In this case, the clad welding has the very broad weld area over $10m^2$. And, the non-destructive test (NDT) such as ultrasonic test (UT) or radiographic testing (RT) should be conducted on the broad weld area, and it costs very high due to the time-consuming work. Therefore, the present study investigated the variation of arc voltage to develop the in-line quality monitoring system for the pipe inside TIG cladding. The 4 experimental parameters (current, arc length, wire feed position, and shield gas flow rate) varied to observe the change of arc voltage and to establish the model for the monitoring. The arc voltage was decreased when the wire was fed to the backward eccentric position(over 2mm), and the shield gas flow rate was insufficient under 10L/min. In the case of the backward eccentric position over 2mm, the bead appearance was not good and the dilution ratio was increased due to deep penetration. When the shield gas flow rate was lower than 10L/min, the bead surface was oxidized.
