Recently, a method of measuring impulse response is widely used for a room acoustic evaluation instead of measuring reverberation time by white noise excitation. Comparing with the traditional reverberation time measurement, this method has many advantages such as good repeatability and the ability to extract various room acoustic parameters at one measurement. In this study, the author developed a measuring system that can extract mono-aural room acoustic parameters from an impulse response measured with MLS (Maximum Length Sequence) signal excitation. These room acoustic parameters include reverberation times(EDT, RT), speech intelligibilities(C50, C80, D, U50, U80, AI) and sound strength(G). This paper introduces the configuration of the developed measuring system, test results and discussions for the measurements at several rooms.
Dynamic response of two adjacent single degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structures connected with friction damper under base excitation is investigated. The base excitation is modeled as a stationary white-noise random process. As the force-deformation behavior of friction damper is non linear, the dynamic response of connected structures is obtained using the equivalent linearization technique. It is observed that there exists an optimum value of the limiting frictional force of the damper for which the mean square displacement and the mean square absolute acceleration responses of the connected structures attains the minimum value. The close form expressions for the optimum value of damper frictional force and corresponding mean square responses of the coupled undamped structures are derived. These expressions can be used for initial optimal design of the friction damper for connected structures. A parametric study is also carried out to investigate the influence of system parameters such as frequency ratio and mass ratio on the response of the coupled structures. It has been observed that the frequency ratio has significant effect on the performance of the friction damper, whereas the effects of mass ratio are marginal. Finally, the verification of the derived close from expressions is made by correlating the response of connected structures under real earthquake excitations.

The purpose of this paper is to compare the control effect of toggle brace system having amplifying displacement mechanism with that of conventional brace system when the identical MR damper is applied to each system. The force-displacement and lone-velocity relationships of MR damper are obtained using harmonic load test and the analytical model for MR damper is presented. White noise excitation tests of a single degree of freedom system with MR-toggle brace system and MR-chevron system are conducted and the transfer functions of the systems are compared. Test results show that the control effect of the toggle system is superior to that of the conventional brace system.

In order to analyze the rolling motion of a ship in random beam waves we use the partial stochastic linearization method. The quadratic damping and the nonlinear restoring moments given by the odd polynomials up to the 11th order are added to a single degree of freedom linear equation of roll motion. The irregular excitation moment is assumed to be the Gaussian white noise. The statistical characteristics of the response by the partial stochastic linearization method is compared with results by the equivalent linearization method and Monte Carlo simulation. It is fecund that the partial stochastic linearization method is not necessarily superior to the equivalent linearization method.

This paper describes a method of Korean speech synhes is using format VOCODER. The parameters of speech synthes is are a follows, 1) format F1, F2, and F3 by spectrum moment method and F4, F5 using the length of vocal tract. 2) pitch frequencies obtained by optimu, Comb method using AMDF. 3) short time average energy and short time mean amplitude. 4) The decision method of bandwidth reportd by Fant. 5) voicde/unvoiced discrimination using zerocrossing. 6) excitation wave reported by Rosenberg. 7) gaussian white noise. Synthesis results are in fairly good agreement with original speech.

In order to analyze the rolling motion of a ship in random beam waves we have used the equivalent linearization method. The quadratic nonlinear damping, the cubic and quintic nonlinear restoring moments were added to a single degree of freedom linear equation of roll motion. The irregular excitation moment was assumed to be the Gaussian white noise. The statistical characteristic of the response by the equivalent linearization method was compared with the simulation result.

Most dynamic systems have various random properties m excitation and system parameters. In this paper, a procedure for structural response and reliability analysis is proposed for the linear dynamic system with random properties in both excitation and system parameters. The system parameter and response with random properties are modeled by the perturbation technique, and then the response analysis is formulated by probabilistic and vibration theories. Probabilistic FEM is also used for the calculation of mean response which is difficult by the proposed response model. The first passage analysis by the integral equation method is used to analyze the probability of failure. The integral equation method results in the first passage probability in terms of crossing rates and first passage probability densities. In this study it is assumed that excitations, system parameters and responses are Gaussian. As an application example, the probabilities of failure at transient state are calculated for a sdof system with random mass and spring constant subjected to stationary white-noise excitation and the results are compared to those of numerical simulation.

The objective of this study is to review the current state of earthquake simulation tecniques using the shaking table and check the reliability. One degree-of-freedom(d.o.f) and three d.o.f aluminium shear models were used and $4m{\times}4m$ 6 d.o.f shaking table was excitated in one horizontal direction to simulate 1940 El centro earthquake accelerogram (NS component). When the actual acceleration history of shaking table is compared to the desired one, it can be found that the overall histories are very similar, but that the lower frequency range (0~2 Hz) of the actual excitation has generally lower amplitude than that of the desired in Fourier transform amplitude. Free vibration and white noise tests have shown almost the some values for natural frequencies, but shown quite different values for damping rations, that is, 1.37% in case of free vibration test vs 14.76 % in case of white noise test. The time histories of story shear driff show the globally linear elastic behaviors. But the elliptical shape of the histories with one of the axis being the stiffness of the story implies the effect of viscous damping.
A fundamental assumption in conventional linear predictive coding (LPC) analysis procedure is that the input to an all-pole vocal tract filter is white process. In the case of periodic inputs, however, a pitch bias error is introduced into the conventional LP coefficient. Multi-pulse (MP) LP analysis can reduce this bias, provided that an estimate of the excitation is available. Since the prediction error of conventional LP analysis can be modeled as the sum of an MP excitation sequence and a random noise sequence, we can view extracting MP sequences from the prediction error as a classical detection and estimation problem. In this paper, we propose an algorithm in which the locations and amplitudes of the MP sequences are first obtained by applying a likelihood ratio test (LRT) to the prediction error, and LP coefficients free of pitch bias are then obtained from the MP sequences. To verify the performance enhancement, we iterate the above procedure with adaptive threshold at each step.

A new clamped mechanical splice system was proposed to develop structural performance and constructability for precast concrete connections. The proposed mechanical splice resists external loading immediately after the engagement. The mechanical splices applicable for both large-scale rebars for plants and small-scale rebars for buildings were developed with the same design concept. Quasi-static lateral cyclic loading tests were conducted with reinforced and precast concrete members to verify the seismic performance. Also, shaking table tests with three types of seismic wave excitation, 1) random wave with white noise, 2) the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake, and 3) the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, were conducted to confirm the dynamic performance. All tests were performed with real-scale concrete specimens. Sensors measured the lateral load, acceleration, displacement, crack pattern, and secant system stiffness, and energy dissipation was determined by lateral load-displacement relation. As a result, the precast specimen provided the emulative performance with RC. In the shaking table tests, PC frames' maximum acceleration and displacement response were amplified 1.57 - 2.85 and 2.20 - 2.92 times compared to the ground motions. The precast specimens utilizing clamped mechanical splice showed ductile behavior with energy dissipation capacity against strong motion earthquakes.
