The traveling system of wheel type excavator, that is applied to drive method by friction of transmission, has many problems about transmisson. It need to settle the problem which is occurred at wheel type excavator and to study continuously variable transmisson which is used with only travel motor. This paper base on mathmetical modeling for travel motor and travel motor of wheel type excavator is designed continuously variable transmisson system without transmisson by direct control method.
Hydraulic transmission is the main component delivering power to the drive wheels of an excavator during forward and backward movement, and it has low speed, high torque and high speed, low torque gear change ratios as a forward/backward two-speed main function. It also has additional function of ensuring that the excavator is stably fixed on the ground with the built-in parking brake during excavation operations. In this study, optimal design specifications are determined by modeling and simulating about the multi-disc-type friction clutch, which is the main component improving the reliability of the hydraulic transmission for a 14-ton wheel excavator, and the friction properties of the transmission clutch are analyzed by performing sample tests.
This study investigates the strength durability on the results of structural and vibration analysis due to the shape of excavator wheel. As model 2 has the least stress by comparing three models with maximum equivalent stress, model 2 has most durability among three models at static analysis. Maximum equivalent stress is shown at the bottom part contacted with ground and this part on wheel is most affected by load in cases of all models. Safety factor can be decided with the value of 2.3 by considering the yield stress of this model. The range of maximum harmonic response frequencies becomes 6900 to 7000Hz. As model 2 has the least total deformation and equivalent stress at these critical frequencies, model 2 has the most durability at vibration analysis among three models. The structural and vibration analysis results in this study can be effectively utilized with the design of excavator wheel by investigating prevention and durability against its damage.
For the design and development of the wheel type excavator, the dynamic effects of travelling on the performance of the equipment should be first analyzed and conside- red in the initial design stage. In order to test the durability of the equipment in a short period, th travelling test should be performed over accelerated durability test tracks. which is more severe than general field roads such as city road, paved road, unpaved road and rough road. In this paper, a parametric study is performed in order to determine important design parameters of durability test track of a wheel type excavator. A rigid body model is developed using DADS and dynamic analysis is performed for the equipment travelling over several test roads with different severity. A comparison of test and analysis results is also presented.
In general, a brake system of axle for heavy duty machine as a wheel excavator makes use of wet-type multiple disk brakes. These disk bakes are very important parts of heavy duty machine because they are advanced in durability and braking power, and can be designed compactly. Thus, we designed and made wet-type multiple disk brakes of axle for the 14ton class wheel excavator to be localization of these imported all. These disk brakes were made a comparative test with the existing disk brakes by the SAE No.2 dynamometer, and the friction characteristics as dynamic and static friction coefficient and wear depth of friction paper were measured.
The power train of transmission for 21-ton grade wheel excavator makes use of a complex gear train composed of a planetary and helical gear system to drive the wheel excavator by transmitting power to the axle. The complex gear train with a shift mode is an important part of the transmission because of strength problems in an extreme environment. To calculate the specifications of the complex gear train and analyze the gear bending and compressive stresses of the complex gear train, this study analyzes gear bending and compressive stresses accurately for the optimal design of the complex gear train with respect to cost and reliability. In this article, the gear bending and compressive stresses of the complex gear train are calculated using the Lewes and Hertz equation. Evaluating the results with the data of the allowable bending and compressive stress from the stress and number of cycles curves of the gears verified the calculated specifications of the complex gear train. A computer structure analysis is performed with the 3D model of the planetary and helical gears to analyze the structure strength of the complex gear train. The results demonstrate that the durability and strength of the complex gear train are safe, because the safety factors of the bending and compressive stresses are more than 1.0.
According to the successful development of hybrid vehicle, hybridization of construction equipments like excavator, wheel loader, and backhoe etc., is gaining increasing attention. However, hybridization of excavator and commercial vehicle is very different. Therefore a specialized energy management control algorithm for excavator should be developed. In this paper, hybridization of excavators is investigated and a new energy management control algorithm is proposed. Four control parameters, i.e., lower baseline, upper baseline, idling generation speed, and idling generation torque, are newly introduced and a new operating principle using those four control parameters is proposed. The use of Genetic Algorithm for the optimization of the four control parameters from the view point of minimization of fuel consumption for standard excavating operation is suggested. In order to verify the proposed algorithm, dedicated simulation program of hybrid excavator was developed. The proposed algorithm is applied to a specific hydraulic excavator and 20.7% improvement of fuel consumption is achieved.
In this study, a real-time simulation system and a washout algorithm for an excavator have been developed for a driving simulator with six degrees of freedom. The excavator model consisting of a boom. bucket, upper frame, lower frame and four wheels, has total 11 degrees of freedom. The suggested washout algorithm consists of high and low pass filters with second order. The high pass filters cut off low frequency of the motion cues limited by platform motion. The cut off frequency for the tilt coordination are suggested for a realistic regeneration of excavator motion.
This study focuses on the energy saving of construction machinery, especially excavators and wheel loaders coming on a backdrop of energy shortage and environment pollution. Due to the problem of the low energy efficiency and the pollution of conventional hydraulic excavators, hybrid hydraulic excavators were developed to solve this challenge. Firstly, this paper discusses the different configurations of the hybrid hydraulic excavator and recent research trend of hybrid hydraulic excavator is reviewed. Secondly, the productions and research of the construction machine companies were analyzed and finally, the future challenges of hybrid technology to the hydraulic excavator were discussed.
In this paper, the experimental study on the identification of noise sources and noise transmission paths was carried out for the cabin noise control of construction equipment. In order to investigate noise and vibration characteristics of cabin structure, sound absorption, transmission, and radiation tests were performed using cabin assembly models. The noise/vibration source levels were obtained from the real cabins of wheel loader and excavator. Using transfer functions of cabins and real cabins' source data, cabin noise was decomposed into airborne and structureborne noise transmissions. Finally noise sources and major transmission paths were successfully identified for wheel loader and excavator's cabins.
