Implementation of Signboard Voice Guidance Service for Visually Impaired Person Using Virtual Beacon (가상비콘을 이용한 시각장애인 대상 간판 음성 안내 구현)

  • In this paper, we implement the signboard voice guidance service for visually impaired person using virtual beacon. The new location to provide a location-based service can be added easily by using virtual beacons, which are locating by Wi-fi, GPS, and so on, instead of physical beacons, which are locating by physical devices. We provide the voice service for guiding information of the captured signboard for the visually impaired when he arrived at the location registered through the virtual beacon.

  • In this study we develop core technology of Multi-Charmel Voice Guidance System based on active 2.45GHz RFID that can be used in the field of advertising. Through this, we can service more familiar with voice information to foreigners by own language in large scale international event. As an alternative to the current high-expensive voice guidance system in exhibition hall and provide more value added services to user. As the result, we present the configuration of integrated software platform which include media server, media client and receiver. It can be as a basis infra equipment for a signtseeing in RFID/USN environment. Additionally through tag information analysis about exposure of advertisement that is collected late, supposed system may achieve role as a new marketing tool.

  • This research proposes a method to provide visually impaired persons with better medical services and to mitigate their difficulties in taking medicines in their daily lives. Normally, pharmaceutical information are distributed in a form of printed materials, but it is not accessible by those who are visually impaired. Since persons who are visually impaired by accidents or diseases are required to take more types of medicines compared to other handicapped persons, and thus it is an important matter to let them have appropriate medicines at the right time. Although there are several web sites which are run by the Ministry of Health and Welfare providing pharmaceutic information, the information on those web sites are duplicated and some of the menus are similar, and thus giving users difficulties and discomfort in finding appropriate pharmaceutical information. Since ontology can define and describe the resource in an information system more clearly, in this research, an ontology consists of pharmaceutical information and knowledge on medicines is constructed to give patients more precise information more efficiently. Also, a service in which users can have voice guidance on pharmaceutical information retrieve from the ontology-based information system by contacting RFID sticker on the medicine to the reader.

  • The voice recognition technology is to recognize the voice of an user and execute the command. Recently, the voice recognition is evolving to the artificial intelligence voice recognition by adding the scheme of the natural language processing. The AI voice recognition is exploited to control the IoT devices or provide the information, such as the news or the wether. The University Information which is one of fields serviced by the information provider is mainly presented on the web. However, since too much information are presented on the web, it is difficult for an user to find efficiently the specific information which the user want to know. In this paper, we design and implement the university guidance system to recognize the user voice searching the information and provide the result using the voice. To do this, we classify the university data and design the lambda function to provide the data.

  • When a new student, a guest, or a student who first visited a school wants to know information about the school, he / she searches through a smartphone or a tablet. However, if you visit the homepage of the school, you do not know exactly where the information you want to find is located, and you spend a lot of time. In this paper, we develop a school guidance system using Alexa with speech recognition function. Divide the school guidance system into college introduction, major, college activities, and entrance information topics, and fill in the details by topic. In the lambda function of Amazon Web Services, we use Node.js to create information on topics and provide information to users by voice.

  • This study is aimed at enhancing mobility rights for the transportation underprivileged that has been made light of relatively compared to normal people. In order to do this, we've suggested having ITS (Intelligent Traffic System) built and improving satisfaction through the test operation of its main system. The existing sound signal device for the visually handicapped has one problem with managing it. Because, the people in charge of it had to visit each problematic site directly to maintain and fix some problems every time it was out of order. Moreover, it couldn't provide sustainable services about voice guidance and the visually handicapped had to control it by either confirming the location of buttons that were installed on the pillar of traffic light and then pressing one of them or using a remote controller on their own. In order to improve such inconveniences, we have created a new typed sound signal device for the visually handicapped by applying the cutting-edge wireless technology based on ergonomics considering actual road situations. Such technology enables it report the status of signal device and light to them by using its voice guidance system automatically every time they have access to it. Additionally, we've already introduced it to a couple of test areas and then known the fact that they recognized traffic situation more conveniently and safely compared to the existing sound signal device. That is above average in terms of satisfaction. In addition to that, we've provided LTS (Location Tracking System - Location-based service intended for elementary students) by utilizing the existing wireless infrastructure and founded the fact that about 87% of their parents were satisfied with the service based on LTS.

  • This paper presents an Auto-Drive-Guidance System which provides a path to the destination with the shortest driving distance(or time), as well as service information such as the location of gas stations, hospitals, or police stations. This system displays on the monitor screen the best driving path to the destination, points the current car position on the map, informs the driver of current position by voice whenever the car passes well-known places, or displays the map the driver wishes to view. With this system, driving becomes more comfortable, and traffic jams will be greatly reduced. As a result, gasoline consumption will be reduced and so air pollution. The system can also be applied to such areas as communication network, geographic map, and tour information.

  • Generally, disabled people have a lot of bad health status at low income levels, the need for health care is higher than for non-disabled people. Although the number of persons with disabilities is increasing with each passing year, their medical services and support are still limited and limited. This problem is not so different from approach to medical information. Conventional medical information is usually printed and transmitted to the patient, but visually impaired people have difficulty accessing such printed information. In the case of the visually impaired, there are many cases where it is not possible to read not only the printed letter but also the braille because the acquired incidence is high. Therefore, this paper tried to solve this problem by transmitting the information of medicine by voice using RFID. In addition, ontology was used to select more accurate drug information. Currently, there are drug information sites provided by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. However, since duplicate information is scattered on these sites, the ontology was used to build up the database.

  • The need for customized services providing real-time subway information through mobile devices for the blind using subway as their primary transportation method is becoming more essential. Therefore, this study is aimed at developing a mobile service to provide real-time subway information by displaying with braille and utilizing Dot Watch. The process of real-time subway information guidance mobile service is as follows: the route confirmation stage, the ride waiting & judgment stage, the on-the-go stage, and lastly, the off-road phase & wrong path state. The service provides real-time appropriate information to the visually impaired people for each situation. It receives subway information through API provided by Seoul Metropolitan Government and ODSay API. The service is developed and coded with in Java using Android Studio, and the communicating method with Dot Watch was done using Bluetooth. The usability evaluation was conducted in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction. The evaluation methods mentioned above were carried out by testees, and feedback was given. They assessed that the information provided was useful but still unstable to use the system. It is expected that actual usability will increase if our study is supplemented using voice output function.

  • This paper is a study on the design and realization of Pedestrian navigation service system for the visually impaired. As it is an user interface considering visually impaired, voice recognition functioned smartphone was used as the input tool and the Osteoacusis headset, which can vocally guide directions while recognizing the surrounding environment sound, was used as the output tool. Unlike the pre-existing pedestrian navigation smartphone apps, the developed system guides walking direction by the scale of the left and right stereo sound of the headset wearing, and the voice guidance about the forked or curved path is given several meters before according to the speed of the user, and the user is immediately warned of walking opposite direction or proceeding off the path. The system can acquire stable and reliable directional information using the motion tracker with the dynamic heading accuracy of 1.5 degrees. In order to overcome GPS position error, we proposed a robust trajectory planning algorithm for position error. Experimental results for the developed system show that the average directional angle error is 6.82 degrees (standard deviation: 5.98) in the experimental path, which can be stated that it stably navigated the user relatively.
