Iterative Deep Convolutional Grid Warping Network for Joint Depth Upsampling (반복적인 격자 워핑 기법을 이용한 깊이 영상 초해상화 기술)

  • Depth maps have distance information of objects. They play an important role in organizing 3D information. Color and depth images are often simultaneously obtained. However, depth images have lower resolution than color images due to limitation in hardware technology. Therefore, it is useful to upsample depth maps to have the same resolution as color images. In this paper, we propose a novel method to upsample depth map by shifting the pixel position instead of compensating pixel value. This approach moves the position of the pixel around the edge to the center of the edge, and this process is carried out in several steps to restore blurred depth map. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves both quantitative and visual quality compared to the existing methods.

Underpricing, Investor Attention, and Post-IPO Performance: An Empirical Analysis of IT Firms (저가발행과 투자자 관심이 기업 공개 이후 장·단기 성과에 미치는 영향: IT 기업을 중심으로)

  • This study examines IPO underpricing and its interaction with investor attention as one of key factors that can affect post-IPO performance in the short- and long-run. With higher investor attention measured as Google searches around IPO dates, our empirical results show that IT firms are underpriced more severely than non-IT firms. We also demonstrate that investor attention is positively associated with IPO performance in the short-run for both IT and non-IT firms. However, the impact of investor attention is more sustained for IT firms over a longer time horizon when coupled with a high level of underpricing while its impact is neutralized for non-IT firms. Given the unique attributes such as network effects embedded in the IT industry, our findings suggest that IPO underpricing and its interplay with investor attention for IT firms play an important role in shaping long-run performance and ultimately affecting fundamental value.

Analysis of Promising Country for Seawater Desalination Plant Using Delphi Method (Delphi 기법을 이용한 해수담수화 플랜트 유망 국가 분석)

  • An index was developed for analyzing the promising countries for seawater desalination plant and related data sets were collected and analyzed. Each indicators was standardized by scale readjustment method and Delphi method was used to calculate the weights for indicators from questionnaire survey by experts in seawater desalination plant field. Twenty three indicators were selected and they were classified into three groups, economic, social, and environmental indicator groups. Eleven countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Qatar, China, Singapore, India, Algeria, Turkey, United States) were selected considering present data availability and index for each country was calculated. The results show United States and China took the first (0.537) and second (0.490) place for the most promising country for seawater desalination plant. However it will not be easy to play a significant role in the markets because of present seawater desalination technology level and national policy, etc. Saudi Arabia took the third (0.329) place and other countries which has more than 0.2 index value can be considered as a promising countries for seawater desalination plant. We can establish a strategy to export our seawater desalination technology and plant using the result of this study. The developed index can be applied to other countries, which were not included in this study, when their data is available.

  • An important features of next-generation wireless networks will be heterogeneous environment in which a mobile terminal will be able to connect to multiple radio access networks and network selection mechanisms play an important role in ensuring QoS for users in this environment. In this paper, our study is concerned with an extension of the well known AHP to the group decision making methods. The users requested specific QoS divide into a group and the access networks with similar characteristics split into a group. Between each group, the one group is selected and within that group, the best access networks will be assigned according to priority order by network selection algorithm. The experimental results of MATLAB simulation show that the every user in each services can select the same network with decision value as large as 0.9. Consequently, the proposed network selection mechanism is more effective than conventional one in integrated UMTS and WLAN networks.

  • In order to enhance the national competitiveness of the korean knowledge economy it is necessary to establish new, cooperative industrial relations. In the past mass production economy the technological innovations generally substitute the real assets for the labour so that the interest conflict between employers and employees was inherent and the resistance of the labourers to innovations was unavoidable. In the knowledge economy, however, the real assets and the labour are complementary to each other and the investments in skills and education bring increasing returns. These are the most important reasons for the common interest of employers and employees in improved skills and advanced education. In the knowledge economy, therefore, establishing and maintaining the cooperative industrial relations is a necessary condition to maximize the value creation, where in Korea the 'Tripartite Commission' can and has to play a active role.

A Study on Radio Resource Management for Multi-cell SC-FDMA Systems (다중셀 SC-FDMA를 위한 무선자원 관리기법에 관한연구)

  • This study proposes a rad o resource management scheme to maximize the performance of the LTE(Long Term Evolution) uplink, using SC-FDMA(Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access). Rather than the single-cell SC-FDMA system the existing studies are mainly concerning, this study focuses on multi-cell system which needs considering the interaction among cells. Radio resource management is divided into two phases, planning and operation phases. The former is for the master eNB(e-NodeB) to allocate RBs(radio bearer) to eNB, the latter for eNB to assign RBs to the mobiles in the cell. For each phase, an optimization model and greedy algorithm are proposed. Optimization models aim to maximize the system performance while satisfying the constraints for both QoS and RB continuity. The greedy algorithms, like generic ones, move from a solution to a neighboring one having the best objective value among neighboring ones. From the numerous numerical experiments, the performance and characteristics of the algorithms are analyzed. This study is expected to play a volunteering role in radio resource management for the multi-cell SC-FDMA system.

  • In the twenty first century of rapid cultural change performing art requires new mode of expression based on imaginative power and creativity as well as establishing its own identity. The modern technological environment support this with advanced technology and bring about the expansion of reason from new experience. The introduction of digital media on artistic expression in particular, expands the physical ability of human body which is the main subject of performing art. A virtual body from digital technology is freed from physical boundaries and goes over space and time. It also suggests the possibility of new mode of communication with audience. This study aims at examining the subject of performing art and its digitalized movement focusing on EveR, the world's first professional robot actor. The robot actor which came on stage according to the new expression medium, a digital body, stands in need not only of technological value but also of cultural and artistic application for expression in art. In this endeavor to meet the demand, this study examines the development process and function of 'EveR' the robot actor. Also it searches into the performance of Ever which replaced human being as well as the historical significance of the title:the world's first. To be more specific, there is a example research on two performances:a pansori play "EveR is simply stunning(2009)" and children's play "The Robot Princess and Seven Dwarfs(2009)." Through this example research, it is enabled to anticipate the influence of robot actors on performing arts and to search for the better way of them to evolve. Furthermore, it aims at finding ways to create high value through promoting robot actors to be familiar to the public as well as supporting them to become active cultural contents. The performance with robotic technology is one of the artistic experiment that may cause the change of the future of performing art by actualizing technological imagination together with human body and machinery. As a consequence, it is expected that the meeting of performing art and robotic technology gives positive influence on activating performing art as one of the integrated cultural phenomenon which satisfies the taste of modern era. Moreover, this study may also be the beginning of the expansion of performing art to stretch to diverse field.

The Landslide Probability Analysis using Logistic Regression Analysis and Artificial Neural Network Methods in Jeju (로지스틱회귀분석기법과 인공신경망기법을 이용한 제주지역 산사태가능성분석)

  • This paper presents the prediction and evaluation of landslide using LRA(logistic regression analysis) and ANN (Artificial Neural Network) methods. In order to assess the landslide, we selected Sarabong, Byeoldobong area and Mt. Song-ak in Jeju Island. Five factors which affect the landslide were selected as: slope angle, elevation, porosity, dry density, permeability. So as to predict and evaluate the landslide, firstly the weight value of each factor was analyzed by LRA(logistic regression analysis) and ANN(Artificial Neural Network) methods. Then we got two prediction maps using AcrView software through GIS(Geographic Information System) method. The comparative analysis reveals that the slope angle and porosity play important roles in landslide. Prediction map generated by LRA method is more accurate than ANN method in Jeju. From the prediction map, we found that the most dangerous area is distributed around the road and path.

A Survey on the Utilization of Maternity and Child Health Service, and Service Requirement (보건소 모자보건실 서비스 이용실태 및 요구도 조사 연구)

  • Thus, I studied Health services supplied by local health centers and the requirements of the inhabitants visiting the health care facilities. The purpose of this study was to provide basic material for the establishment of Health care policy and the development of health care businesses. The target places for this study were 4 health centers; Chungrang-Gu, Nowon-Gu, Eunpyung-Gu, Songpa-Gu, with 509 mothers who were visiting the Centers. The question items of this study concerned a total of 124 health-related services provided by the Health Centers. The data was collected for a total of 92 days; July 1st~September 30th, 1999. 800 questionaries were distributed and 559 answered, 509 were analyzed finally. The collected data were processed using the SAS program to get mean, standard deviation, percentage. Open questions were made to reveal the opinions of mothers using the health care center. The results were as follows : 1. Among the participants of the study, 49.7% were 25~29 years of age, 84.3% were house wives by current occupation, 56.2% were from 4~6 person households. 52.1 were educated at a high school level, and 43.6% were educated at a collage level. 2. The highest percentage(53.6%) of the users were spontaneous in their utilization of health care center. The major reason for using the Health care center is that it is free to 65.8% of those covered and of low cost to 19.3% of those covered. 3. The satisfaction level of those using the health care center appeared to be generally high. The general average value showed up as $3.027{\pm}0.519$. 4. The level of recognition of the value of the heath care center services was high, particularly in the basic item of diagnoses of pregnancy, particularly in the basic item of diagnoses of pregnancy. However, the satisfaction level of health care education In pregnancy is low at 20~40%. In the meantime, the level of recognition in breast- feeding benefits is high at 76.8%. 5. The rate of realizing health care center's service campaign was generally low at 10~20%. 41.3 of the people knew the advertizing material of the health care centers. 32.4% of the people knew the advertizing material of the health care centers. 32.4% of the people knew the campaign of health care center for importance of breast-feeding benefits. 30.1% of the people knew the campaign for testing congenital mechanism disease. In the meantime about 50% was recognised the health care centers campaign for the importance and time of infants vaccination. 6. The need for enhancement of health care center services was shown to be high as $3.266{\pm}0.676$ as an average, chicken pox vaccination being the most highly requested at $3.565{\pm}0.587.$. 7. Among the open questions, the additional service to be provided were as follows ; increase of campaign of health care center services, furnishing advertizing books in public locations, providing shuttle bus service to the health care centers, extension of desire for preventative injections, rest and play areas for the children of the families serviced, consultation rooms, etc.

Association of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor I genotype with body weight, dominance of body weight, and mRNA expression in Korat slow-growing chickens

  • Objective: Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) play a critical role in animal growth rates. We aimed to investigate the effect of GH and IGF-I genotypes on body weight (BW), dominance, and gene expression in slow-growing chickens at different ages. Methods: A total of 613 Korat chickens (KRs) were bred and divided into three groups by genotype - A1A1, A1A3, and A3A3 for GH and AA, AC, and CC for IGF-I. Chickens were weighed every two weeks, and liver and breast muscle tissues were collected at 10 weeks of age. Genetic parameters of KRs were estimated using ASReml software. The GH and IGF-I mRNA levels were measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Significant differences between traits were analyzed using the generalized linear model. Results: A significant effect of GH genotypes on BW was found at most ages, and the A1A1 genotype had the highest value of BW. Compared with the A3A3 genotype, the A1A1 and A1A3 genotypes showed a higher dominance effect at 0 and 2 weeks, and genotype A1A1 had the highest value of dominance at 8 weeks of age. A difference in GH mRNA levels between genotypes was detected in breast muscle at 6 weeks and in the liver tissue at 2 weeks. In the case of IGF-I gene, the AA genotype had the highest BW at the beginning of life. Significant differences in BW dominance were found at 2 weeks. However, IGF-I mRNA levels were not different among genotypes in both breast muscles and liver tissues. Conclusion: Our results revealed that GH and IGF-I influence growth, but may not be involved in heterosis. GH can be used as a marker gene in selection programs for growth because the homozygous genotype (A1A1) had the highest BW at all ages. The IGF-I is not a useful marker gene for selection programs.
