This study investigated pre-service elementary school teacher's perception of science curriculum use in Korea and Japan. Ninety four pre-service elementary teachers in Korea and fifty three pre-service elementary teachers in Japan are participated in this study. As the result, four patterns were revealed. First, science isn't perceived as an important or interesting subject by the pre-service elementary teachers in both countries. Second, the perception of Korean pre-service teachers about the objectives of science subject is relatively negative. Third, in the case of Korea, the perception about the effectiveness of science subject content and level, and the amount of learning is shown to be more negative than those of Japan. Finally, in both countries, the science majors and the non-science majors have negative perceptions about the inclusion of the perspectives and methods of assessment and the preparation of teaching and learning plan in curriculum.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify perception, use status and factors influencing use of medical alert identification (ID) in diabetic patients who are on insulin. Methods: A survey was conducted from December 2013 to April 2014 with 198 people who were asked to participate in the survey. Results: The medical alert ID perception score was 3.54 on a 5-point scale. Most of respondents (82.8%) knew about the medical alert ID, but only 23.2% of respondents wore a medical alert ID and only 43.5% of respondents always wore a medical alert ID. Perception and frequency of possession were positively correlated (r=.41, p<.001). The most influential factor for the possession of a medical alert ID was the perception of the medical alert ID (${\beta}=.41$, p<.001). The perception of the medical alert ID explained 17% of variance in possession of a medical alert ID. Conclusion: Most of diabetic patients who take insulin received education about hypoglycemia and knew about the medical alert ID, but only few of them wore a medical alert ID. Findings from this study indicate that perception is an important variable related to possession of a medical alert ID in this population.

Purpose: The present study was performed to identify the perception, attitude, and knowledge regarding the use of physical restraints among nursing personnel working at long-term care facilities. Method: 289 nurses, nurse aids and private caregivers working at 13 wards from 7 facilities participated in the survey. Perception, attitude and knowledge regarding the use of physical restraints were evaluated using the Perceptions of Restraints Use Questionnaire developed by Evans and Strumpf(1993) and Physical Restraint Questionnaire suggested by Janelli, et al(2006). Results: Wrist restraints were used the most frequently. The perception score regarding the use of physical restraints was 3.35, which is a moderate value. Study respondents considered 'safety measure' and 'safe use of a medical device' as the most important aspects when applying physical restraints to elderly. The respondents reported physical restraints were therapeutic at least to some degree but knowledge level about physical restraints of the respondents was rather low. Conclusion: Perception and attitude toward physical restraints were identified. The lack in knowledge about physical restraints needs to be addressed for more efficient use of them.
As the use of social media has gained mainstream popularity, concerns on the particulars of the users' motivation and method of use is on the rise. Under uses and gratifications approach, this study analyzes the use behaviors in Kakao-story, Facebook, and Twitter, and analyzes the changes in the perception of social support by the users of the media. Data was analyzed from 240 online questionnaire surveys. The study finds that the frequency of use of social media differs depending upon the personality of the users and their purpose of use, both of which also influence their type of use. It also finds that frequent use of social media increased the users' perception of social support, whereas their type of use had no effect with such perception. Communication behavior through social media seem to increase perception of social support.

The invention of computers is one of the best things that have ever happened to mankind and undergraduate students can benefit immensely from the use of computers. However, observations have showed that in the present Nigerian society, there are a number of issues arising from unethical use of computers. Interactions with some undergraduate students revealed that a majority have fallen into the trap of unethical use of computers at one time or another. This seemingly alarming rate of unethical use of computers therefore calls for concern. A literature search has shown that awareness and perception of computer ethics have not been adequately researched within the Nigerian context. Thus, the main objective of this study was to examine the awareness and perception of computer ethics by undergraduate students in a Nigerian university. Descriptive survey research method was used and the study population was comprised of 12,894 undergraduate students of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. The multistage random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 292 and the questionnaire was used to collect data. Findings showed that the level of awareness of respondents on issues associated with computer ethics was high (mean=45.19). A majority of the respondents had a favorable perception of computer ethics and the most prominent factor identified that could hinder adherence to computer ethics as noted by most of the respondents was the poor economic situation of the country. Part of the recommendations was that government at all levels should provide responsible and responsive leadership.
Purpose: The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine current status of IT-based medication error prevention system construction and the relationships among system construction, medication error management climate and perception for system use. Methods: The participants were 124 patient safety chief managers working for 124 hospitals with over 300 beds in Korea. The characteristics of the participants, construction status and perception of systems (electric pharmacopoeia, electric drug dosage calculation system, computer-based patient safety reporting and bar-code system) and medication error management climate were measured in this study. The data were collected between June and August 2011. Descriptive statistics, partial Pearson correlation and MANCOVA were used for data analysis. Results: Electric pharmacopoeia were constructed in 67.7% of participating hospitals, computer-based patient safety reporting systems were constructed in 50.8%, electric drug dosage calculation systems were in use in 32.3%. Bar-code systems showed up the lowest construction rate at 16.1% of Korean hospitals. Higher rates of construction of IT-based medication error prevention systems resulted in greater safety and a more positive error management climate prevailed. Conclusion: The supportive strategies for improving perception for use of IT-based systems would add to system construction, and positive error management climate would be more easily promoted.
This study examined the usage, perception and willingness to use beef traceability. The data were collected from 255 housewives in Busan and Gyeongnam region through a self-administered questionnaire. Frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted by SPSS Windows V.20.0. Only twelve percent of the respondents experienced to use beef traceability. Most respondents checked it by kiosk or bar code reader in a store. On the other hand, eighty-eight percent did not use beef traceability. The reasons for not usage of it were "Do not know beef traceability very well", "Do not know how to use beef traceability", and "Information from packing or counters is reliable" in order. In the level of perception of beef traceability, safety assurance was highest, followed by information quality, usefulness, and information accessibility. The percentage of correct answers of knowledge about beef traceability was not high. The multiple regression analysis showed that employment status, knowledge about beef traceability, information quality, information accessibility, and usefulness were significant factors to affect the willingness using beef traceability.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of parents' perception of infant's use of digital devices on language development. Methods: For this study, a survey was conducted on 285 parents of 1-2year old infants attending childcare centers in Jeollanam-do. Results: First, the digital devices that infants were exposed to the most was the television, and their first exposure to digital devices was at 13~17 months. The most time spent using digital devices was 30 minutes and they most frequently used them at home. Second, parents perceived the educational value of digital devices as low. Third, language development was high when the initial use of digital devices for infants was late, when the daily use time of digital devices was less than 30 minutes, when digital devices were used with parents, and when parents always managed digital devices and usage time. Fourth, Parents' perception of the use of digital devices has a significant influence on their infants' language development. Conclusion/Implications: Language development due to the use of digital devices and parents' perception of the use of digital devices has a significant impact on infants language development.
