  • We use a congruence relation on deductive systems of a Hilbert algebra H, to define a uniform structure on H and investigate the corresponding topology.

  • A linear map T from a Banach algebra A into a Banach algebra B is almost multiplicative if $\left\$\mid$ T(fg) - T(f)T(g) \right\$\mid$ \leq \in\left\$\mid$ f \right\$\mid$\left\$\mid$ g \right\$\mid$(f,g \in A)$ for some small positive $\in$. B.E.Johnson [4,5] studied whether this implies that T is near a multiplicative map in the norm of operators from A into B. K. Jarosz [2,3] raised the conjecture : If T is an almost multiplicative functional on uniform algebra A, there is a linear and multiplicative functional F on A such that $\left\$\mid$ T - F \right\$\mid$ \leq \in', where \in' \to 0$ as $\in \to 0$. B. E. Johnson [4] gave an example of non-uniform commutative Banach algebra which does not have the property described in the above conjecture. He proved also that C(K) algebras and the disc algebra A(D) have this property [5]. We extend this property to a derivation on a Banach algebra.

  • Throughout this paper, let X be a compact Hausdorff space, and let C(X) (resp. $C_{R}$ /(X)) be the complex (resp. real) Banach algebra of all continuous complex-valued (resp. real-valued) functions on X with the pointwise operations and the supremum norm x. A Banach function algebra on X is a Banach algebra lying in C(X) which separates the points of X and contains the constants. A Banach function algebra on X equipped with the supremum norm is called a uniform algebra on X, that is, a uniformly closed subalgebra of C(X) which separates the points of X and contains the constants.(omitted)

  • In this paper, we consider a collection of ideals of a difference algebra X. We use the concept of congruence relation with respect to ideals to construct a uniformity that induces a topology on X which makes this to a topological difference algebras. We study the properties of this topology regarding different ideals.

  • Let A be a uniform algebra, and let $\phi$ be a self-map of the spectrum $M_A$ of A that induces a composition operator $C_{\phi}$, on A. It is shown that the image of $M_A$ under some iterate ${\phi}^n$ of \phi is hyperbolically bounded if and only if \phi has a finite number of attracting cycles to which the iterates of $\phi$ converge. On the other hand, the image of the spectrum of A under $\phi$ is not hyperbolically bounded if and only if there is a subspace of $A^{**}$ "almost" isometric to ${\ell}_{\infty}$ on which ${C_{\phi}}^{**}$ "almost" an isometry. A corollary of these characterizations is that if $C_{\phi}$ is weakly compact, and if the spectrum of A is connected, then $\phi$ has a unique fixed point, to which the iterates of $\phi$ converge. The corresponding theorem for compact composition operators was proved in 1980 by H. Kamowitz [17].

  • In [1], Alo and Deeba introduced the uniformity of a BCK-algebra by using ideals. Meng [5] introduced the concept of dual ideals in BCK-algebras. We note that the concept of dual ideals is not a dual concept of ideals. In this paper, by using dual ideals, we consider the uniformity of a BCK-algebra.
