풍력터빈 출력예측 및 극한하중평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Ultimate Load Assessment and the Performance Prediction of a Wind Turbine)

  • Design life-time of a wind turbine is required to be at least 20 years. In the meantime, the wind turbine will experience a lot of load cases such as extreme loads and fatigue loads which will include several typhoons per year and extreme gusts with 50 years recurrence period as well as endless turbulence flow. Therefore, IEC61400-1 specifies design load cases to be considered in the wind turbine design and requires the wind turbine to withstand the load cases in various operational situations. This paper investigates the ultimate loads which the wind turbine will experience for 20 years and their characteristics based on the IEC61400-1 using an aero-elastic software, GH-Bladed. And the performance characteristics of a wind turbine such as electrical power generation and annual energy yield are also investigated.

Ultimate and fatigue response of shear dominated full-scale pretensioned concrete box girders

  • Two full-scale, precast, pretensioned box girders were subjected to shear-dominated loading, one under monotonic loads to failure and the other subjected to one-half million cycles of fatigue loads followed by monotonic ultimate loads. The number of cycles was selected to allow for comparison with previous research. The fatigue loads were applied in combination with occasional overloads. In the present study, fatigue loading reduced the shear capacity by only six percent compared to the capacity under monotonic loading. However, previous research on flexure-dominated girders subjected to the same number of repeated loads showed that fatigue loading changed the mode of failure from flexure to shear/flexure and the girder capacity dropped by 14 percent. The comparison of the measured data with calculated shear capacity from five different theoretical methods showed that the ACI code method, the compression field theory, and the modified compression field theory led to reasonable estimates of the shear strength. The truss model led to an overly conservative estimate of the capacity.

  • 선체를 구성하는 판부재는 일반적으로 면내하중과 횡하중의 조합하중이 작용하게 된다 면내하중으로서는 주로 전체적인 선체거더의 휨과 비틀림에 의한 압축하중 및 전단하중이 있다. 횡하중은 수압과 화물압력에 의해서 작용하게 된다. 이러한 하중의 요소들은 항상 동시에 작용하는 것이 아니지만 한 개 이상의 하중이 존재하고 상호작용하게 된다. 그러므로, 좀더 합리적이고 안정적인 선박구조의 설계를 위해서는 이러한 조합하중이 선체판에 작용할 경우에 발생하게 되는 좌굴 및 최종강도거동의 상호관계를 좀더 자세히 분석할 필요가 있다. 실제로 선체판은 슬래밍과 팬팅과 같은 충격하중을 제외하고는 상대적으로 적은 수압이 작용하게 된다. 본 연구논문에서는 조합하중을 받는 선체판부재의 거동에 있어서 최종한계상태설계법에 기반을 둔 탄소성대변형 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 압축하중과 횡하중이 판부재에 작용하였을 경우 횡하중의 크기에 따른 영향을 탄소성대변형 유한요소해석(ANSYS)을 수행하여 분석하였다.

Repair of flange damage steel-concrete composite girders using CFRP sheets

  • Damaged steel-concrete composite girders can be repaired and retrofitted by epoxy-bonded carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets to the critical areas of tension flanges. This paper presents the results of a study on the behavior of damaged steel-concrete composite girders repaired with CFRP sheets under static loading. A total of seven composite girders made of I20A steel sections and 80mm-thick by 900mm-wide concrete slabs were prepared and tested. CFRP sheets and prestressed CFRP sheets were used to repair the specimens. The specimens lost the cross-sectional area of their tension flanges with 30%, 50% and 100%. The results showed that CFRP sheets had no significant effect on the yield loads of strengthened composite girders, but had significant effect on the ultimate loads. The yield loads, elastic stiffness, and ultimate bearing capacities of strengthened composite girders had been changed as a result of prestressed CFRP sheets, the utilization ratio of CFRP sheets could be effectively improved by applying prestress to CFRP sheets. Both the yield loads and ultimate bearing capacities had been changed as a result of steel beam's flange damage level and CFRP sheets could cover the girders' shortage of bearing capacity with 30% and 50% flange damage, respectively.

외압(外壓)을 받는 축대칭(軸對稱) Shell의 한계하중(限界荷重)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Ultimate Load Analysis of Axisymmetric Shells of Revolution Subjected to External Pressure)

  • This paper describes the application of the finite element method to the large deflection elastic plastic analysis and ultimate load calculation of axisymmetric shell of revolution with initial imperfection subjected to external pressure. The nonlinear equilibrium equations are linearized by the successive incremental method and are solved by the combination of load increment and iteration scheme with considering plastic deformation theory. To get the more realistic effect of large deflection, corrected coordinats and directions of applied load ar every load increment steps are used. The effects of the plasticity, initial imperfection and the shape of shells on the ultimate load of clamped circular cap under external pressure are investigated. Consequently, the following conclusions are obtained; (1) At same geometric parameter $\lambda$, each shape of clamped circular caps yield same elastic ultimate loads in both cases, i.e. with and without initial imperfections, whereas, in the case of elastic-plastic state the shell becomes thicker, the ultimate loads are getting smaller. (2) The effects of initial imperfection to ultimate load are most significant in the elastic case and are more senstive in the elastic-plastic state with the thinner shells.

컨테이너선의 최종 종강도 평가를 위한 비선형 유한요소 해석의 적용 (Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis for Ultimate Hull Girder Strength of Container Ship)

  • Through the recent accident, the checking of ultimate hull girder capacity for container ship should be needed. Smith’s method is well known as the only simplified method to access rapidly for ultimate hull girder capacity except very expensive nonlinear F.E approach. This simplified method, however, is admitted to apply only to bulker and tanker in accordance with Classification Rules up to now. The targets of this study are to verify effectiveness of the simplified method for container ship’s ultimate hull girder strength and to propose the safety factor considering the local bending in double bottom structures due to out of plane loads through the nonlinear F.E analyses. Two different sized ships and three loading conditions which are pure bending, homo-loading and one-bay empty condition were used for this study. Based on the F.E results, the present study showed that CSR’s simplified method is available for the ultimate hull girder strength of container ship and over 1.2 of safety factor should be applied to consider the local bending effect in double bottom structures due to out of plane loads such as sea pressure an cargo.

분포하중이 포물선 아치의 정적 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Distributed Load on the Static Behaviour of tile Parabolic Arches)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of partially distributed loads on the static behavior of parabolic arches by using the elastic-plastic finite element model. For this purpose, the vertical, the radial, and the anti-symmetric load cases are considered, and the ratio of loading range and arch span is increased from 20% to 100%. Also, the elastic-visco-plastic analysis has been carried out to estimate the elapse time to reach the stable state of arches when the ultimate load obtained by the finite element analysis is applied. It is noted that the ultimate load carrying capacities of parabolic arches are 6.929 tf/$m^2$ for the radial load case, and 8.057 tf/$m^2$ for the vertical load case. On the other hand, the ultimate load is drastically reduced as 2.659 tf/$m^2$ for the anti-symmetric load case. It is also shown that the maximum ultimate load occurs at the full ranging distributed load, however, the minimum ultimate loads of the radial and vortical load cases are obtained by 2.336 tf/$m^2$, 2.256 tf/$m^2$, respectively, when the partially distributed load is applied at the 40% range of full arch span.

  • Simple and efficient way of nonlinear analysis considering elasto-plastic large deformation is introduced to calculate the strength of ring-stiffened cylinears subject to combined load of axial compression and lateral pressure. Parametric study gives various collapse modes according to the combination ratio of axial compression and lateral pressure, interaction between axial compression and lateral pressure and imperfection sensitivity of ultimate strength.

  • In this paper, full-scale airframe static test of 4-seater canard airplane(the Firefly) was explained. From the results of the structural analysis, 5 design limit loads test conditions and 11 design ultimate loads test conditions were selected. Test loads analysis was performed and test fixtures and load control system(LCS) were prepared to realize the test loads. To protect the test article during the test, the overload protection system was prepared. Strain and deflection values were acquired through the data acquisition system(DAS) to verify the structural analysis results.
