A Study on the Choice Behavior of Transportation Mode in Jeju (제주지역의 교통수단선택 행태에 관한 연구)

  • In order to solve the traffic problem in jeju, we must reduce demand for car travel. In addition, demand for passenger travel by public transport policy is needed for conversion. And to improve the quality of public transport services are desperately needed. The purpose of this study, personal characteristics of the trip traveler and the relationship between transportation choice, and personal effectiveness as a factor in travel costs and travel time on the impact of transportation choices will investigate. Restructure its public transportation routes, when to switch to buses to car traffic on the data as a basis for the factors that may be.   • Places exposed to mass media induce behavior by forming curiosity and expectations for potential travelers. The places reported through mass media influence viewers. Among TV programs, the most influential genre is drama, and reality programs that provide immersion with different characteristics from dramas influence viewers' choice of destination. CVM is mainly used for estimating the value of objects that cannot be evaluated in the market, such as tourist destinations. This study conducted an economic valuation of filming locations for dramas and travel entertainment programs using CVM, and then compared and analyzed the research results of the two filming locations. Linear and log logit analysis were performed to measure the willingness to pay for the filming location of the drama/travel entertainment program, and the payment amount was derived. The conclusion of the study is that as the travel cost required to visit the filming location of the drama/travel entertainment program increased, the intention to visit decreased. The amount payable when visiting the filming location of the drama/travel entertainment program was higher than the average consumption amount for a day trip, and the amount payable for the drama was higher than that of visiting the filming location of the travel entertainment program.

  • There are unique aspects of truck vehicle movements compared with the personal travel in trip chaining. This paper reports an analysis on the truck vehicle trip chaining which intercity/metropolitan/intraregional trips are classified. Data collected from the travel dairy survey is used the truck trip-chaining analysis. The pattern of trip chaining classes is classified by the GIS mapping based on orgin-destination trip information. The physical index and efficiency index for each trip diary is used to the truck vehicle activity. Truck trips lengths and time differs from its truck type, service type and travel patterns. It is shown that the efficiency of the truck trip chaining depends on vehicle types and its delivery patterns. There are many other topics for research on trip chaining modeling such as the classification of trip chain, time use and mode choice by trip chaining.

A Study on the Transport-related Impacts of Flexible Working Policy using Activity-Based Model (활동기반모형을 이용한 유연근무제의 교통부문 영향 연구)

  • This study aims to evaluate the availability of ABM (Active-Based Model), FEATHERS, as a policy evaluation tool. To achieve the goal, scenario analysis on flexible working policy was conducted to measure its impact on activity-travel behavior. As a consequence, there seems no significant change in worker's daily life, other than mitigating traffic congestion due to decreasing commuting travel in the rush hour. The result of VKT (vehicle kilometers traveled) shows an opposite pattern according to given household/individual constraints. The scenario analysis on telecommuting indicates a decreasing trend in both travel frequency and distance because of the diminished number of commuting trips. As the activity space of telecommuters is shifted to a residential area, there are more short-distance trips by using non-motorized transport, which leads to decrease in VKT (using a private vehicle). Thus, the sensitivity of VKT by population groups varies due to transport mode shift (between personal and another mode) and growing non-work trips (using a private mode). This study found few things. First, it is necessary to evaluate the details of policy impact by population groups since it can be varied depending on household/individual characteristics. Second, the case study shows a promising performance of ABM as policy measurement that provides reality in policy evaluation. Third, ABM allows us to do more accurate analysis (i.e. time-series analysis by population groups) of policy assessment than those of FSM (Four-Step Model). Lastly, a further effort in data collection, literature review, and expert survey should be made to enhance the accuracy and confidence of future research.

Consumption Behavior of Women Consumers in their 20s and 30s for Imported Famous Brand Products (20, 30대 여성의 수입유명브랜드 제품 소비행동)

  • This study investigated the plan to activate consumption behavior through research using a questionnaire investigating the consumption behavior of imported famous brand products and conducted a case study in order to supplement the qualitative sense. This research was conducted on women consumers in their 20s and 30s. 483 questionnaires were used for statistical analysis. The interview research was conducted with 10 consumers in the case study. Following are the study results: 1. Women consumers showed the highest level of conspicuous consumption behavior in the consumption behavior of imported famous brand products. 2.The educational level of consumers and friends showed the greatest statistically significant effect on conspicuous consumption behavior. Both the perception on the openness of imports and the frequency of travel abroad had significant effect on function-pursuit consumption behavior, while age and marital status had the greatest effect on aesthetic-pursuit consumption behavior.

  • In recent years, energy consumption in the transportation sector by expanding motorization continues to increase in almost every country in the world. Moreover, the growth rate of the transportation energy consumption is significantly higher than those of the civilian and industrial sectors. Therefore, every country strives to reduce its dependence on private transport, which is the main contributor to the transportation energy consumption. In many countries, concepts such as Transit Oriented Development (TOD) or New Urbanism, which controls road traffic by increasing the proportion of the public transportation significantly, have been implemented to encourage a modal shift to public transport. However, the level of change required for eliminating environmental problems is a challenging task. Minimizing transportation energy consumption by controlling the increase of the traffic demand and maintaining the level of urban mobility simultaneously is a pressing dilemma for each city. Grasping the impact of the diversity of the urban transport and infrastructure is very important to improve transportation energy efficiency. However, the potential for reducing urban transportation energy consumption has often been ineffectively demonstrated by the diversity of cities. Therefore, the accuracy of evaluating the current efficiency rate of the urban energy consumption is necessary. Nevertheless, quantitative analyses related to the efficiency of transportation energy consumption are scarce, and the research on the current condition of consumption efficiency based on international quantitative analysis is almost nonexistent. On the basis of this background problem definitions, this research first built a database of the transportation energy consumption of private modes in 119 cities, with an attempt to reflect individual travel behaviors calculated by Person Trip data. Subsequently, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used as an assessment method to evaluate the efficiency of transportation energy consumption by considering the diversity of the urban traffic features in the world cities. Finally, we clarified the current condition of consumption efficiency by attempting to propose a target values for improving transportation energy consumption.

  • Through Tourism Information System, we can know, how much we feel importance of travel information and how to they spending, research when they need to go to travel according to we have to realize about anticipation/planning phase and on-site phase are different exactly. This purpose is how to get a basic data when we support with tourist about information of festival in travel and also how to give satisfaction for tourist and how many tourist wants to join the travels in addition, it is possible to we can develop all of things about travel informations. This is a result of research. First, all of the tourists participate the FESTIVAL, even though they didn't get any informations about travel. The second, information of festival in travel has different feeling between importance of participate in festival and performance after experience.

  • This study utilized TEXTOM, a social network analysis program to analyze changes in current tourism behavior after travel restrictions were eased after the outbreak of COVID-19. Data on the keywords 'domestic travel' and 'overseas travel' were collected from blogs, cafes, and news provided by Naver, Google, and Daum. The collection period was set from April to December 2022 when social distancing was lifted, and 2019 and 2020 were each set as one year and compared and analyzed with 2022. A total of 80 key words were extracted through text mining and centrality analysis was performed using NetDraw. Finally, through the CONCOR, the correlated keywords were clustered into 4. As a result of the study, tourism behavior in 2022 shows tourism recovery before the outbreak of COVID-19, segmentation of travel based on each person's preferred theme, prioritization of each country's corona mitigation policy, and then selecting a tourist destination. It is expected to provide basic data for the development of tourism marketing strategies and tourism products for the newly emerging tourism ecosystem after COVID-19.

Relationships between Diversion Rates and Traffic Conditions on Expressways (고속도로 소통상황과 우회율과의 상관분석)

  • Due to increasing interest in dispersion of traffic flows through providing traffic information, there has been much research of driver behavior and effectiveness of diversion. In this paper the authors intend to analyze how a diversion was determined and its effects through correlation analysis between diversion rates estimated by actual surveys and the traffic conditions. Through speed-flow analysis, the diversion mechanism was found. When travel speed decreased, detour volume increased. Then when the traffic volume was decreased through an increase of diversion and traffic conditions got better, the detour volume decreased again. In addition, the authors found negative correlation between the diversion rate and travel speed through correlation analysis. It shows that there were various relationships between diversion rates and traffic conditions according to congestion level and direction of traffic. Finally, it is suggested that the regression equation for calculating the diversion rate with the traffic flows, travel speed, and travel time as variables has a coefficient of determination of 38.5%. It means that traffic conditions on expressways take about 40% of driver's decision-making for diversion.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the important travel agency service quality factors in relation to the amount of information search efforts through major information channels of customers such as interpersonal source, retailer source, and external media source. Factor analysis using varimax rotation was performed and 20 service attributes of travel agent was reduced to 6 factors; convenience system, personal service, customer maintaining service, reputation, atmosphere and accessibility. According to MANOVA analysis there are significant differences in the service quality factor due to the type of source and amount of efforts of information search.
