  • This paper treats the implementation of concurrent engineering principles for ROC development of a future infantry fighting vehicle. Based on the acquisition process of weapon systems and operational requirements provided by users, Quality Function Deployment(QFD) is used to translate the requirements of the user into specific trade-off analysis. Results of these studies and the use of concurrent engineering principles are presented.

  • Evolutionary Algorithm is the general method that can search the optimum value for the various problems. Evolutionary method consists of random selection, crossover, mutation, etc. Since the next generation is selected based on the fitness values, the crossover between chromosomes does not have any restrictions. Not only normal marriage but also consanguineous marriage will take place. In human world, consanguineous marriage was reported to cause various genetic defects, such as poor immunity about new diseases and new environment disaster, These problems translate into searching for the local optimum, not the global optimum. So, a new evolutionary algorithm is needed that prevents traps to...

  • An m-transversal to a family of convex sets in the plane is an m-point set which intersects every members of the family. One of Grubaum's conjectures says that a planar family of translates of a convex compact set has a 3-transversal provided that any two of its members intersect. Recently the conjecture has been proved affirmatively (see [4]). In the present paper we provide a different and straightforward proof for the conjecture for the family of translates of a closed trapezoid in the plane and give several concrete 3-transversals.

  • Solenoid type magnetic actuator is the device, which could translate the electromagnetic energy to mechanical force. The force generated by magnetic flux, could be calculated by Maxwell stress tensor method. Maxwell stress tensor method is influenced by the magnetic flux path. Thus, magnetic force could be improved by modification of the iron case, which is the route of the magnetic flux. Modified design is obtained by parameter optimization using by Response surface methodology.

  • Working with dynamic visual representations can help students-with-computer discover new mathematical ideas. Students translate among multiple representations as a strategy to investigate non-routine problems to explore possible solutions in mathematics classrooms. In this paper, we use the area models as new representations for our secondary students to investigate three problems related to the average speed of a particle. Students show their ideas in the process of investigating arithmetic mean, harmonic mean, and average speed through their created dynamic figures. These figures really utilize dynamic geometry software.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate students' constructing similarities in the understanding the problem phase and the devising a plan phase of problem solving. the relation between similarities that students construct and how students construct similarities is researched through case study. Based on the results from the research, authors reached a conclusion as following. All of two students constructed surface similarities in the beginning of the problem solving process and responded to the context of the problem information sensitively. Specially student who constructed the similarities and the difference in terms of a specific dimension by using diagram for herself could translate the equation which used to solve the base problem or the experienced problem into the equation of the target problem solution. However student who understood globally the target problem being based on the surface similarity could not translate the equation that she used to solve the base problem into the equation of target problem solution.

  • The World Health Organization and its member states, in 1978, declared that primary health care is a key to attain the goal of Health for All by the goal of Health for All by the yeas 2000. As a member state of WHO, the Republic of Korea has participated in the declaration of ALMA-ATA and committed to put national efforts for devedoping and implementing primary health care approach with the spirit and content of this Declaration. Since 1978, to translate the spirit of the Declaration into realization, Korean goverment has developed a new category of health manpower such as Community Health Practitioners serving people living in remote rural areas and Village Health Workers serving voluntarily their own village, strengthened the function of Health Centers and Health Subcenters through their reorientation and improved the infrastructure by their new construction or renovation. While primary health care is viewed as an essential health care in Korea, there are some circles who follow a narrow definition in referring to the health care at the periphey of a health system, which is erroneous. Considering the PHC is accepted as the best alternative approach to health care to solve problems that modern health systems are facing, we propose the followings as desirable health policy directions that modern health systems are facing, we propose the followings as desirable health policy directions which might translate the persopective into action at the national level after reviewing past and current PHC approach in Korea : 1. To improve the equity through the reduction of gaps between those who have access to health care and those who have not. 2. To reinforce multisectoral approach and intersectoral coordination through the re- establishment of the National Health Council or establishment of equivalent organization at the central level. 3. To stengthen community participation through lacal people's empowerment by leadership training, changing planning process from the top-down approach to bottom-up and giving the priority to human resources rater than technology, 4. To reinforce the Ministries of Health and Social Affairs through upgrading its role and function to Coordinate Ministries which involve human welfare policies, and creating a Division which is in charge of PHC in the Ministry.

  • The aim of this study was to translate and validate the revised Nottingham Sensory Assessment(rNSA) in Republic of Korea. A cross-sectional study was conducted to translate the rNSA into Korean using a modified forward/backward translation procedure. Inter-rater and intra-rater reliability, internal consistency, and concurrent validity were investigated to validate the Korean version rNSA. The Korean version rNSA showed excellent inter-rater reliability (r=0.92-1.00) and intra-rater reliability (r=0.93-1.00). Significant correlations were found between sensory assessment results of the Korean version of the rNSA and the Korean Fugl Meyer Assessment Sensory subscales (r=0.96). The Cronbach α value of internal consistency of Korean version rNSA was ranged from 0.73 to 0.90, the value of K-FMA-S was ranged from 0.70 to 0.88. In these results, psychometric properties of the Korean version of the rNSA achieved the standard level and can be feasible in clinical practice to assess sensory function following stroke in Republic of Korea.

  • In this paper, the system which can translate sign language through motion recognition of Kinect camera system is developed for the communication between hearing-impaired person or language disability, and normal person. The proposed algorithm which can translate sign language is developed by using core function of Kinect, and two ways such as length normalization and elbow normalization are introduced to improve accuracy of translating sign langauge for various sign language users. After that the sign language data is compared by chart in order to know how effective these ways of normalization. The accuracy of this program is demonstrated by entering 10 databases and translating sign languages ranging from simple signs to complex signs. In addition, the reliability of translating sign language is improved by applying this program to people who have various body shapes and fixing measure errors in body shapes.

  • With the increase of a web service technology, a new access control mechanism has developed for XML documents. As a result, as legacy access control systems, access control systems has become an active research topic. In this paper, we propose a methodology to translate access control policies for XML documents into formal specification language CSP. To do this, first, we introduce a method to translate a hierarchical access to XML documents using XPath language into CSP process algebra. Second, we explain a method to represent a XML schema as a formal model like automata. Third, we present a method for representing the semantics of access control policies such as the scope of rules and confliction resolution into a process algebra language. Finally, a CSP specification example of an XML schema and path expressions aye shown to illustrate the validity of our approach.
