In this paper the transient electron transport in GaAs bulk is simulated by using ensemble Monte Carlo method. To analyze the transient electron transport the 10000 electrons in the .GAMMA. valley are simulated simultaneously for 10 picoseconds. The electric field-velocity relation is obtained. The high impurity density reduces the negative differential resistance effect. The result of transient average velocity shows the electron velocity in the transient state is faster than that in the steady state. This transient velocity overshoot is caused by the intervalley scattering mechanism. And we confirmed the fact that the energy relaxation time is longer than the momentum relaxation time.
A prediction method for determining the welding residual stress by artificial neural network is proposed. A three-dimensional transient thermomechanical analysis has been performed for the CO $_{2}$ Arc Welding using the finite element method. The validity of the above results is demonstrated by experimental elastic stress relief method which is called Holl Drilling Method. The first part of numarical analysis performs a three-dimensional transient heat transfer anslysis, and the second part then uses results of the first part and performs a three-dimensional transient thermo-clasto-plastic analysis to compute transient and residual stresses in the weld. Data from the finite element method were used to train a backpropagation neural network to predict residual stress. Architecturally, the finite element method were used to train a backpropagation voltage and the current, a hidden layer to accommodate failure mechanism mapping, and an output layer for residual stress. The trained network was then applied to the prediction of residual stress in the four specimens. The results of predicted residual stress have been very encouraging.
A transient hydraulic flow rate computation scheme is described here so that the transient hydraulic flow rate can be determined using the dynamic pressure measurements at the ends of a straight flowline with a dynamic, model of the hydraulic line. Simulation results indicate that the method is relatively robust to realistic levels of uncertainties in the fluid properties.
Transient stability analysis of Korea Electric power Corporation(KEPCO) system is conducted by time simulation method, and the method is robust and reliable. But, time simulation consumes enormous computing resources and engineering time, and it does not provide a measure of the degree of stability of the system. Therefore, this method does not apply to every changed condition appropriately and quickly in planning and operating. And Transient Energy Function (TEF) method whis can assess quickly and quantatively the degree of stability of the system and which judges the stability and the instability to analyse transient dynamic charater of the system by mutual changing kinetic energy and potential energy, is developed. TEF method analyses the first Swing transient stability of the system by using the thought that if after disturbance happening, the increase of all the rotator kinetic energy changes into the potential energy after diturbance clearing, the system is stable, otherwise the system is unstable. This paper represents the availabiIity of the TEF method by comparing with time simulation method on the two cases.
This paper describes a calculation method of source level of a ship transient noise, which is one of the important elements for the ship detection. Aim of transient noise measurements is to evaluate of acoustic energy due to singular occurrence, which is therefore defined as non-periodic and short termed events like an attack periscope, a rudder and a torpedo door. In generally, in the case of randomly spaced impulse, the spectrum becomes a broadband random noise with no distinctive pattern. Therefore, frequency analysis is not particularly revealing for type of signal. In the paper, it is performed in time domain to analyze a transient noise. However, a source level of transient noise is required an investigation for multiple frequency band. So, in order to calculate a source level of transient noise, a design of exponential weighting function, convolution, band pass filtering, peak detection, root mean square, and parameter compensation are applied. The effectiveness of this calculation scheme is studied through computer simulations and a sea test. Furthermore, an application of the method is applied in a real case.
An efficient method is presented for determining transient responses of locally nonlinear structures using substructure eigenproperties and Lagrange multiplier technique. The method is based upon the mode synthesis formulation procedure, but does not construct the equations of motion of the combined whole structure compared with the conventional methods. For modal bases of each linear substructure, either fixed or free interface modes can be employed. The transient analysis is based upon the recurrence discrete-time state equations and offers the simplicity of the Euler integration method without requiring small time increment and iterative solution procedure. Numerical examples reveal that the method is very accurate and efficient in calculating transient responses compared with the direct numerical integration method.
In transmission system, reclosing scheme is very useful method to improve continuity of power supply and reliability of system. Especially, high speed reclosing which is used generally in transmission systems has a benefit improving transient stability. However, the reclosing can jeopardize the stability under the condition having high difference of voltage phase angle between both ends. Thus, this paper proposes optimal sequential reclosing scheme to improve transient stability due to reclosing operation. The optimal sequential reclosing is that each phase is closed sequentially considering transient energy. In this paper, 345kV and 154kV transmission system is modeled using EMTP (ElectroMagnetic Transient Program) to verify the performance and effectiveness of optimal sequential reclosing on transient stability. Also, Integral Square Error(ISE) method is used to assess the transient stability.
In general, the electromagnetic transient phenomenon always exists in induction motor(IM) with the torque change. The control performance of IM is very worse than that of D.C motor owing to this transient phenomenon. So many studies about the elimination methods of the transient phenomenon have been making progress. Interesting methods of them are the Field acceleration method(FAM) and the method of impulse addition on the input voltage at the time point of torque change. In this paper, first, the circuit equation of IM is derived from the phase segregation method. The torque equation consisted of the stator and rotor currents is derived from the solving of the circuit equation. As we well known, the transient terms exist in this the torque equation. The method of impulse addition on the input voltage at the instance of torque change is confirmed theoretically for the elimination of the transient phenomenon. With the base on it, the author proposed a real time algorithm to eliminate the transient terms. The control system is consisted of the PI controller with the feedforward of torque change. The author could confirm that the quick stepwise responses of torque and speed can be obtained from response simulations.
Theoretical analysis on the transient torsional vibration was started from early 1960's for high power synchronous motor application. As for marine engineering, simulation and measuring techniques of transient torsional vibration have been steadily studied by manufacturer of flexible coupling and designer of four stroke marine diesel engine. In this paper, the simulation method of transient torsional vibration for four stroke marine diesel engine application using Newmark method is introduced.
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of transient stochastic analysis on nonlinear response of earth and rock-fill dams to spatially varying ground motion. The dam models are analyzed by a stochastic finite element method based on the equivalent linear method which considers the nonlinear variation of soil shear moduli and damping ratio as a function of shear strain. The spatial variability of ground motion is taken into account with the incoherence, wave-passage and site response effects. Stationary as well as transient stochastic response analyses are performed for the considered dam types. A time dependent frequency response function is used throughout the study for transient stochastic responses. It is observed that stationarity is a reasonable assumption for earth and rock-fill dams to typical durations of strong shaking.
