  • This paper presents an effective numerical method for analyzing three-dimensional unsteady conjugate heat transfer problems of a curved pipe subjected to infernally thermal stratification. In the present numerical analyses, the thermally stratified flows in the pipe are simulated using the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$turbulent model and the unsteady conjugate heat transfer is treated numerically with a simple and convenient numerical technique. The unsteady conjugate heat transfer analysis method is implemented in a finite volume thermal-hydraulic computer code based on a non-staggered grid arrangement, SIMPLEC algorithm and higher-order bounded convection scheme. Numerical calculations have been performed far the two cases of thermally stratified pipe flows where the surging directions are opposite each other i.e. In-surge and out-surge. The results show that the present numerical analysis method is effective to solve the unsteady flow and conjugate heat transfer in a curved pipe subjected to infernally thermal stratification.

프리텐션 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 부재의 정착길이 평가 (Experimental study on development length of prestressing strand in pretensioned prestressed concrete members)

  • By bond mechanism between the prestressing strand and the concrete surrounding it, the effective force of prestressing must be transferred to the concrete entirely. The distance required to transfer the effective force of prestressing is called the transfer length, and the development length is the bond length required to anchor the strand as it resists external loads on the member. Transfer length was determined from the concrete strain profile at the level of the strands at transfer and development length was determined from various external loading lengths and compared with current code equation. Through the test results, bond failure is predicted based on the distress caused by cracks when they propagate within the transfer zone of prestressing strand. The current code equation was found to be conservative in comparison with the measured value.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the relationship between managerial system and incremental innovation, and the mediating effect of knowledge transfer in small business. In order to verify and achieve the purposes mentioned above, questionnaire data were gathered and analysed from 255 enterprise managers in western Kangwon-do province. Empirical survey's findings are as follows; First, CEO's support and education/training appeared to be positively related with knowledge transfer. Second, managerial system and knowledge transfer appeared to be positively related with incremental innovation. Third, knowledge transfer had mediating effect on the relationships of CEO's support-incremental innovation and education/training-incremental innovation.

  • In this paper, we introduce the results of the development of a care robot for the safe lifting and transportation of bedridden patients with difficulty moving by themselves, especially, in medical facilities. The purpose of the developed patient transfer robot is to improve the convenience of care givers and enhance the safety and comfort of care recipients by facilitating patient lifting and patient transfer tasks by applying robot technology. In order to implement the lifting function, a hoist was designed and developed, and a sway control and rollover warning system were included in the hoist module as product differentiators. In addition, in terms of implementing the transfer function, an omnidirectional movement mechanism to improve operability in confined spaces and an active safety system to prevent collisions were developed. The function of the developed patient transfer robot was verified through performance evaluation by an authorized testing agency.

This paper aims to predict marine pilot occupational accidents before it occurs by using historical data.   • This paper aims at presenting bunkering educational programs for LNG fueled ship taking into consideration existing similar education programs and safety systems at the international level in order to enhance both seafarers' and vessels' safety. Heavy fuel oil has typically been used as fuel of ship propulsion. The competitiveness of the fuel oil is recently getting weak in terms of cost and environmental aspects. Liquefied natural gas is introduced for ship propulsion in the maritime field as a new energy source replacing heavy fuel oil. In order to prepare for installation and operation of LNG fueled propulsion ship on board, International Maritime Organization has discussed this subject for about 10 years. As a result of the discussion on such ships in IMO, the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-Flash-Point Fuels entered into force on the year 2015. International organizations and several countries therefore drives actively entire researches and other businesses with a view to providing equipment and system of LNG bunkering. The systems are divided into ship-to-ship transfer, terminal / pipeline-to-ship transfer and truck-to-ship transfer. By adopting transfer system of LNG bunkering, many human resources will be needed in these areas on scene as well as on managing, operating, trading, finance, design of LNG bunkering industries. LNG bunkering is just in the beginning stage. Hence, this paper reviews and proposes professional educational programs of LNG bunkering in consideration of technical aspects of the safety system of LNG bunkering based on the types of bunkering systems.

  • The gas holdup and volumeteric liquid phase mass transfer coefficient with the variation of the concentration of CMC aqueous solution, gas velocity, diameter and area of the draught tube were investigated. As the results of the experiments, the gas holdup and volumetric liquid phase mass transfer coefficient decreased with decreasing the concentration of CMC aqueous solution, increased with increasing the gas velocity and increased with increasing the circulated area ratio of the draught tube.

  • In a compartment fire with openings, convective heat transfer consists of natural convection from the hot bodies and forced convection by airflow through the openings. The same finite volume method that was applied to pure natural convection in part I was utilized without modification to the square cavity with two openings. The objective of this study is to investigate effects of the openings on temperature distribution. Flow patterns, temperature distribution and heat transfer were compared for different Rayleigh numbers and with and without the openings.

  • Efficiency calibration is a fundamental procedure in gamma spectrometric measurement. Experimental technique for efficiency calibration transfer in gamma spectrometer along different geometries and volumes has been developed and validated in this work. The developed technique offers simple and easy procedures to overcome several problems encountered in efficiency calibration of gamma spectrometer such as rate-related correction and different sample volumes. The validation shows that application of the developed technique has a precision of 95%.
