  • A neutral section is installed around feeding substation(SS) and sectioning post(SP) that M phase and T phase are isolated in AC feeding system. Electric Train under "Notch-OFF" is operated by inertia within the neutral section. It causes disturbing the operation of electric trains for speed drop and driver's mistakes. A automatic changeover system with thyristor recently have taken under development.   • This paper shows the form of the optimal solution and how to minimize energy of train driving control using SA(simulated annealing). In this paper, we consider the case where a train is to be driven by automatic operation mode along a non-constant gradient, curve and with speed limits. Using the combinational optimal technique, SA, we constructed optimal train driving strategy.

  • This paper shows the form of the optimal solution and how to minimize energy of train driving control. In this paper we consider the case where a train is to be driven by manual operation mode along a straight level track, and with speed limits. Using the constrained optimal technique(Lagrange Function & Kuhn-Tucker equations), we constructed optimal train driving strategy.

  • The high speed train service will be offered for high-quality transport service in existing railway by Korean National Railroad(KNR). Therefore, this paper presents the results of analysis carried out to determine the dynamic response characteristics of deck plate girder bridges which are representative elevated structures of existing railway and to evaluate their suitabilities for supporting Korea Train Express(KTX) trainsets in the speed range 0-250 km/h. Their dynamic characteristics are analyzed concerning structural safety, train-operation safety and passenger comfort. The simplified method for 2-dimensional train/track/bridge interaction analysis is utilized in the analysis of dynamic behaviors of deck plate girder bridges.

  • This paper presents the effects of dynamic response of the railway bridge through the suspension system when the train is moving with uniform speed and non-uniform speed Railway bridges are subjected to dynamic loads generated by the interaction between moving vehicles and the bridge structures. these dynamic loads result in response fluctuation in bridge members. To investigate the real dynamic behavior of the bridge, a number of analytical and experimental investigation should be carried out. This paper, a train/bridge interaction analysis program considerate braking action. New scheme consideration of braking action on the bridge using speed-dependent braking function is presented. This program also used torsional degree of freedom and constraint equation based on geometrical relationship in order to take into consideration three-dimensional eccentricity effect due to the operation on double track through quasi three-dimensional analysis.

  • Electric railway system driving the electric cars using power from catenary has been secured by performance of stable tracking between pantograph and catenary. The performance of the power collecting of pantograph is the one of the most important skills for high-speed train speed. The first Korea high-speed train(KTX) is 20 cars in one train set. In the meantime, collecting capability of single pantograph collector at one train set was confirmed through evaluation of the performance and the stability test. However, more research is needed to build for a stable collecting capability of coupled Korea's KTX-II High-speed system which is developed in Korea. In this study, actual vehicle test of coupled KTXSanchon was made to analyzing the data presented by the dynamic nature of catenary and pantograph, and the interface characteristics.

  • The ballast or other objects may be located on the rail road by a lump of ice, repairing operation on the track, or the strong gust due to the high speed running of the train. When a train operated in this condition, it causes serious damages to the wheel, train, and structures near the track, or the secondary ballast flying. To remove these objects safely, a ballast blower is suggested which was attached under the train. Firstly, the numerical analyses are investigated to find out the basic flow characteristics of the ballast blower. Next, the performance of the ballast blower is verified by wind tunnel experiments. Through these studies, it is expected that the ballast blower can be applied practically.

  • Tilting train has been developed to increase the operational speed of the trains on conventional lines which have many curves. This train are tilted at curves to compensate for unbalanced carbody centrifugal acceleration to a greater extent than compensation produced by the track cant, so that passengers do not feel centrifugal acceleration and thus trains can run at higher speed at curves. This paper show that results of normal capacity calculations of the electrical equipments such as Main transformer, PWM converter, VVVF inverter, traction motor in TTX(tilting train express) with maximum operation speed 180 km/h

  • This paper deals with design and thrust force measurement of EMS type LSM for propulsion of the high-speed maglev train. The load of maglev train is calculated, and the design equations of the LSM are presented, and the LSM which is suitable for the operation of short-distance test track is designed. In addition, the finite element analysis is performed to confirm the back-EMF and thrust force characteristics of the LSM designed model. A short length LSM prototype model is manufactured. Finally, the thrust force of the LSM is measured by the method applying dc current to the stator winding instead of three-phase ac current. And the validity of the design and analysis is verified by this measurement.

  • Recent social needs for promoting traffic safety increased and the demand social security in economic, increasing the demand for environmentally friendly rail transport. In particular, when train express such as to secure reliability KTX(Korea Train eXpress) from potential disaster(fire) in the train operation caused by the train express running has been very important. Railroad fire extinguishing system is operated to fire exploding before reaching the flashing point more important than early to quickly detect because of CAN(Controller Area Network) communication to fire suppression and fire receiver, interface, fire fighting equipment from HMI((Human Machine Interface) and fire high-performance to research and development for intelligent composite fire receiver is required.
