  • A periodic mesoporous organosilica material was synthesized by microwave heating (PMO-M) using 1,2-bis(trimethoxysilyl)ethane as a precursor in a cationic surfactant solution, and textural properties were compared with those of the product produced by conventional convection heating (PMO-C). These synthesized materials were characterized using XRD, TEM/SEM, N2 adsorption isotherm, 29Si and 13C NMR, and TGA, which confirmed their good structural orders and clear arrangements of uniform 3D-channels. Synthesis time was reduced from 21 h in PMO-C to 2-4 h in PMO-M. PMO-M was made of spherical particles of 1.5-2.2 m m size, whereas PMO-C was made of decaoctahedron-shaped particles of ca. 8.0 m m size. Effect of synthesis temperature, time, and heating mode on the PMO particle morphology was examined. The particle size of PMO-M could be controlled by changing the heating rate by adjusting microwave power level. PMO-M demonstrated improved separation of selected organic compounds compared to PMO-C in a reversed phase HPLC experiment. Ti-grafted PMO-M also resulted in higher conversion in liquid phase cyclohexene epoxidation than by Ti-PMO-C.

  • The present paper is concerned with a two-competitor/oneprey population system with Holling type-II functional response and two discrete delays. By linearizing the system at the positive equilibrium and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium and existence of local Hopf bifurcations are investigated. Particularly, by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for functional differential equations (FDEs) explicit formulae determining the direction of bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are derived. Finally, to verify our theoretical predictions, some numerical simulations are also included at the end of this paper.

  • In this paper,we consider a LQG problem subject to the stochastic multirate system. By restating the problem as a periodic LQG problem, it is pointed out that the lack of measurements and control inputs in some time instants makes the problem singular. A method of transforming the problem into a nonsingular one enables us to obtain the solution, however which gives a resulting value of the LQG cost and the setimation error dynamic different with those of the original system. As a consequence, we present a optimal value of the original cost and the estimation error covariance of the original system, which are expressed by periodic Lyapunov equation respectively. The evaluation resulte can be exploited in comparing the control system performances and specifying the sampling rates.

  • In this paper, a fixed-horizon $H_{\infty}$ tracking control (HTC) for continuous time-varying systems is proposed in state-feedback case. The solution is obtained via the dynamic game theory. From HTC, an intervalwise receding horizon $H_{\infty}$ tracking control (IHTC) for continuous periodic systems is obtained using the intervalwise strategy. The conditions under which IHTC stabilizes the closed-loop system are proposed. Under proposed stability conditions, it is shown that IHTC guarantees the $H_{\infty}$-norm bound.

  • An efficient solution method for harmonic balance techniques with Fourier transform is presented for periodic unsteady flow problems. The present partially-implicit harmonic balance treats the flux terms implicitly and the harmonic source term is solved explicitly. The convergence of the partially Implicit method is much faster than the explicit Runge-Kutta harmonic balance method. The method does not need to compute the additional flux Jacobian matrix from the implicit harmonic source term. Compared with fully implicit harmonic balance method, this partial approach turns out to have good convergence property. Oscillating flows over NACA0012 airfoil are considered to verify the method and to compare with results of explicit R-K(Runge-Kutta) and dual time stepping methods.

  • Distributive desynchronization algorithms based on pulse-coupled oscillator (PCO) models have been proposed for achieving collision-free wireless transmissions. These algorithms do not depend on a global clock or infrastructure overheads. Moreover, they gradually converge to fair time-division multiple access (TDMA) scheduling by broadcasting a periodic pulse signal (called a 'firing') and adjusting the next firing time based on firings from other nodes. The time required to achieve constant spacing between phase neighbors is estimated in a closed form or via stochastic modeling. However, because these algorithms cannot guarantee the completion of desynchronization in a short and bounded timeframe, they are not practical. Motivated by the limitations of these methods, we propose a practical solution called PD-DESYNC that provides a short and deterministic convergence time using a flag firing to indicate the beginning of a cycle. We demonstrate that the proposed method guarantees the completion of desynchronization within three cycles, regardless of the number of nodes. Through extensive simulations and experiments, we confirm that PD-DESYNC not only outperforms other algorithms in terms of convergence time but also is a practical solution.

  • A reaction-diffusion model with spatiotemporal delay modeling the dynamical behavior of a single species is investigated. The parameter regions for the local stability, global stability and instability of the unique positive constant steady state solution are derived. The conditions of the occurrence of Turing (diffusion-driven) instability are obtained. The existence of time-periodic solutions, the existence and nonexistence of nonconstant positive steady state solutions are proved by bifurcation method and energy method. Numerical simulations are presented to verify and illustrate the theoretical results.

  • An SIR epidemic model with pulse vaccination and time delay describing infection period is investigated. The global attractiveness of the infection-free periodic solution is discussed, and sufficient condition is obtained for the permanence of the system. Our results indicate that a large vaccination rate or a short period of pulsing leads to the eradication of the disease.

  • The modified F-expansion method is used to construct analytical solutions of the foam drainage equation with time- and space-fractional derivatives. The conformable derivatives are considered as spacial and temporal ones. As a result, some analytical exact solutions including kink, bright-dark soliton, periodic and rational solutions are obtained.

  • Parallel tasks in distributed real-time systems can be divided into several subtasks and be executed in parallel according to their real-time attributes. But, it is difficult to gain the optimal solution which is to allocate a tasks deadline into the subtasks deadline while minimizing the subtasks deadline miss. Tn this Paper, we propose the algorithm that allocates deadlines into each subtask, according to the attributes of each subtask(i.e. using communication time and execution time to periodic tasks). Also, we suggest a processor mapping algorithm that considers the communication time among the processors and the effective duplication algorithm which is allocated to the identical processor for the purpose of improving the communication time between the subtasks. We can obtain a result that reduces IPC(Inter-Processor Communication) time and uses the idle processor through applying effective real-time attributes to FUTD(Fully connected, Unbounded Task Duplication) algorithms. As a result, we can improve the average processor utilization.
